HOW is that supposed to help fasten a tie easier when it's on the back of the shirt?!?
That is the one thing that puzzled me...and yet he never explained it...
In USA we never heard of guys in school Gym or biz men at their Club using the frat loop to hang their neckties when they changed clothes. See above post.
“Most people think the windshield wipers on a car are just for decoration”
Yo so if we got on a plane and covered the lil hole would the window crack
@@TurtlzTwist idk probably
Most people also think the turn signals on a car are ornamental.

How the hell is a loop on the BACK of a shirt going to help you to fasten a tie easier?
Obviously he doesn't wear ties, so he doesn't know how stupid he sounds when explaining nonsense :D lol
It is for Suspenders! They cross in the back and going through the loop keeps them neat and positioned.
You're right.
That actually makes a lot of sense
I thought it was for suspenders tbh
Wow, you guys didn't clickbait, didn't pressure to subscribe, simply just asked at the end, respect

“Fruit Loops”. That little loop, in the center back of men’s shirts, was something for fellow classmates to pull off shirts in the mid-60’s. Fun. 🤣👀
10 things I did not know? Me - I knew them already ..... NEXT!
#1 - "There are actually 3 documented reasons, and it's unkown which is correct." So what you're saying is that you don't know what they are for either? Oh boy I can't wait to watch the rest of this video.
and one of three "documented reasons" is some legend from a specific university
And that legend deals with how students of that university essentially used the thing for a purpose that was not intended.
MaiAolei That seriously made me laugh... like, for the students to do that, the loops had to have been there already... which means they were put on there for a different purpose. "List channels" these days...
you didn't even try to understand what he was saying? there are three different documented use cases people have had for it, but it is vague to say which one is correct. I would say the loop in the shirt is used by the manufacturers to do something with the shirt before it's finished.
Thanks captain obvious, but vague and unknown pretty much mean the same thing, its not known. If you're not sure if you're even right, then how can you be so sure you're not wrong either? The students using it to signal they're going steady is pretty much like saying hanging a sock on the door as a do not enter sign one of it's intended uses. That's pretty much the exact opposite, its code.
I think most of these "reasons" are total bullshit.
The ferrite one is true.
Yea, but those two were things that everyone knows.
I didn't know that.
1,2,3,7, and 10 are true.

3:18 the small pocket is actually called a "ticket" pocket. Levi introduced it for gold miners back in the day as prospectors were given tickets, as receipt, for the gold they deposited at the assayers
You're an assayer lol
4:04 I tought it was ice cream at first lol
how does the loop on the back of your shirt help you fasten your tie?? what the fuck?
Maybe it replaces the tie clip when you wear it backwards?
I was wondering the same thing. You can't make a statement like that without explaining how.
I thought he would say it's for suspenders at least, But a tie? Mk.
Katana E omg suspenders makes so much sense.. lol that might actually work!
MaiAolei lol good one
The little loop in back of some shirts was originally called a locker loop and it indeed used to hang shirts in lockers . Contrary to the video, it causes far less wrinkling than hanging by the color on locker hooks.
Thank you for the actual explanation!
Its actually for the Y shaped suspenders (2 in the front, one in the back *wink wink*) it's designed like that so the rear strap wouldn't move.
Allan Richter no its not.
Barb5001

The loop on the back of this shirt was for suspenders to hold your pants up it would go through the loop then over your shoulders and then clip onto your trousers
Thanks for watching!
Holy shit so I've been over eating my pasta lol 3- 4 portions 😂
4:25 The purpose of the hole on the pen cap is, to let the air go through, so you can close the pen properly. Without the hole, the extra air inside the cap will push the pen against it, when you try to close it. Dumb.
you're dumb
+mrarticshadow no I'm pretty sure you're dumb
I never actually thought about that. This seems like a better use than "so the cap doesn't get absorbed into my lungs membrane"
Then why didn't any pen have them until they passed a law that they had to allow air though for when toddlers swallowed them?
Oh so making sure you don't die if you accidentally swallow it is a worse reason? smh
Most people believe this video is just for decoration.
Matt -
This is false!

When I was in grade school in the mid 60's, the loop on the back of the shirt was called a fairy loop. The loop isn't sewed, so it could be pulled out with a good tug. If you still had the loop on your shirt, that meant that no one had the guts to take it from you. ie you were a bad ass.
I love this stuff. Since it costs money to make any detail on an object, it makes sense it has a use.
The primary purpose for the hole in a pen lid is to prevent air pressure forcing ink down the channel of the ink tube when the lid is placed on the pen. Without the hole, when the lid is put on, there would be no where for the air in the lid to go, so it would put pressure on the ball in the point of the pen and force the ink down the tube, creating an air lock and preventing ink flow the next time the pen is used. I can't imagine shirt manufacturers adding a loop to a shirt for the purpose of college students to indicate their relationship status. This is an adapted use.
Ooooohh and true
Your point on the pen cap proves my point on the video being stolen. First mind warehouse got it wrong, and then facts verse got it wrong also in exactly the same way as mind warehouse lol.
+Almero yes it would save their lives. its used for when someone chokes and cant breathe. they either get that much air until help arrives (which is more than enough) or die. you take your chances
mark walburg you are right. children need lees air and have smaller wind pipes.
ka da The hole was not always there. When i was a child it used to be solid. I remember pens that would not always work directly after opening the cap. Only after shaking and scribbling a lot. But i still think the reason for the hole is to relieve pressure when placing the cap on, other wise the pen will not work every time you open it, and that would put the manufacturer in a bad light.
Be cool if you actually would have done research and realized that yes, the loop on a shirt came from sailors, who used it to hang up their shirts while changing. Also, hangers are a pretty recent invention, not really used until the 20th century. The loops are, in fact, for hanging up shirts.

The little pocket is for COINS.
Maybe now.... But original Levi advertisements prove its original purpose was for the pocket watch. Only pretentious modern douchebags would wear a waist coat with jeans.
Blue Jeans were originally designed by Levi Strauss as work pants for California gold miners, and the pocket was for a watch. These days people wear wristwatches , but that was the original purpose of the design.
NOOOOOOO, HIPSTERS !!!! AAAAAARGGGH!
I initially thought what kind of tyrant would make such a sweeping statement about dress. Then I googled images for "waistcoat and jeans" and saw that you were actually right.
In my country it's even called watch-pocket, so I think it is for a watch.
1:33 I love those snowflakes ❄️
My dad, my uncle, my grandad all carried pocket watches. I knew at an early age what a watchpocket was, and Im 57, I still carry one myself.
I use the little pocket on my Levi's for my guitar picks. I never lose them.
Aw.. That's so cute for some reason.
I have never seen an eraser that is pink & blue in my life until now lol

The hole in the spaghetti spoon is actually not for a portion. Its just the most simply way to make water drain. Some spoons have several small holes, or slits for this purpose. And the holes are of different sizes with different spoons. The Loop on the back of a shirt is also really just to hang it up, the school story is complete and utter bullshit. Its used because in lockers you usually can't use clothes hangers, it was made popular during the 1960s. And its even called "Locker Hanger" Stop making shit up and believing stuff you saw on 9 gag.
Exactly. Not sure where he came up with this nonsense. I use that to hang my shirts in the locker at gym after work. It's better to hang it there than on inside of shirt collar because you actually get less wrinkles and it's less stress on fabric than if hung on inside of collar.
You don't end up with points in the shoulders, it's better to hang from the loop and I have yet for one to wrinkle because of the loop, they just aren't heavy enough to cause a crease.
I was thinking the same thing
I could be wrong, but I believe with the spaghetti theory, he means when it is still dry. The amount you can bunch up and push though the hole is a serving. That part wasn't mentioned though.
The hole in the spaghetti spoon and the loop on the back of a shirt are actually for making people wonder what these dope things are for, meaning the smartasses who devised them are somewhere jerking off and saying: "I GOT THEM ALL! HAHAHA".
07: watch pocket, to keep other pocket contents from damaging your watch, and make it easier to get your watch out, & without dumping out your other pocket contents. I still don't feel like I know what the loop on the back of the shirt is for.
he only gave theories and not actually the intended purpose
Y shaped suspenders, only worn by the Amish anymore.
Apparently it's to help tie a tie, whatever the fuck he meant by that, he didn't explain.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh u sad a bad word

The little pocket is where I keep guitar picks.

i put pens in pencils in it
That's the accepted purpose as far as most people are concerned . This video is off the deep end.
I heard a cop said it was a coin pocket once. I've been putting my change in there ever since. 😯
yeah same
And for all these years I've been wearing my tie on the front...Here I always thought the loop was a pony tail tamer. Really gang... The loop is called a "locker loop" and it is for hanging. If you hang a dress shirts by the collar it will distort them. Hanging it at the back, where it is under pressure from the shoulders when worn, will quickly smooth out any hanging wrinkles. And the watch pocket was kept and was later referred to as a key pocket. It keeps a key separate from other crap in your pocket so it's easy to find. If you have a few keys together, the pocket keeps them from rattling arounnd in the main pocket.
#7 I was told the little pocket on jeans is for coin change.. makes sense to me..
I use the small pocket in my jeans all the time to carry my lighter, my pocket knife/box cutter, my multi-tool, pencils, drill bits, screw-gun tips, or sharpies. It's actually incredibly useful and I wish both pockets had them.

Interesting "things", a lot of them had unsatisfactory explanations though. The Cable Cylinder for example nullifies static electromagnetic noise? What would happen if it wasn't there? The Spaghetti spoon hole is to measure a serving? That doesn't even make sense. Of course it's to drain out the water. The Pencap hole is so that the whole cap is not absorbed by mucus? How does that work mechanically exactly? The bits of fabric that come with clothe can be washed first to see what they react to washing like? Does that make sense? Unless the color actually changed I don't think you could tell if the wash shrank or ruined your piece of fabric much.
I always though it was so you could take the little piece with you to buy shirts/ties etc... and check they match the jacket...
The hole is to measure the sapghetti BEFOR you cook it. Try google spaghetti measure.
Martin Lyhagen o that could be.
I'm 100% sure that is exactly what it is not for. It does not take a genius to figure out a serving, It has been around for a long ass time. No one wants water in there spaghetti so it's only natural to put a few holes in the bottom of the spoon. Also no two brands of spoons have the same types of holes so its not consistent with servings. Some spoons have a lot of small holes, how does that help measure a serving? It doesn't.
I agree with you. What a lame lame made up reason for the hole. And worse... they didn't even explain the made up reason properly. If you went from this video, you would think they meant the hole was to measure cooked spaghetti. But it doesn't matter because it's bogus anyway.
that extra pocket on the jeans, is for my lighter.
perfect size for a zippo
or loose change..
Fits nicely, just doesn't the oil evaporate even faster by keeping it that close to the body? I got a gas operated blue-flamed zippo, thus I do no longer need to worry about that.
edi nah i don't have a zippo just bics
that's nice.
The small extra pocket on jean was also used to hold paper money or house key

+Carlton Fisk funniest comment I have read in a while. Thanks!
Yep that there small pocket is for coins. End of story.
... but I've always heard it called a watch pocket.
How would that shirt loop help you fasten your tie easier?
Same way a hole in a spaghetti spoon will help you measure out a serving. This whole list is fuck of shit.
You're supposed to stick the spaghetti through the hole before you boil them. When they're stiff and straight the bundle should just barely be able to fit through the whole, and when you boil that amount it is the average serving size. I don't know about the shirt loop though.
the holes are always different sizes though, I have one with tiny hole and one from Ikea that is in a shape of a cross...so that's bullshit
잠꾸러기 Maybe that was the original purpose (as well as draining any water of course), but eventually stopped being used for it.
Danubian yeah that's possible
“The design is quite simple: it’s made from therite and wrapped for its protection.” Most videos wouldn’t have the balls to mention something obscure like therite and then not actually explain what it is despite being an informative video. Kudos.
And then promotly not explain what it is or why it is there.
Ferrite bead*. If a device is susceptible to interference, without this your device will act erratically or itself will emit interference. Think radio antenna. It stops the cable acting as an antenna basically.
Ferrite, not therite.
The fieite bead is a choke that stops the cabel becoming a antenna. It's essentially a EMI filter electro magnetic interference. This because of high frequency form electronic circuits liks switching power supplies.
How is a hole in a spoon a measurement for 1 serving of spaghetti. That makes no sense.
The uncooked noodles, if allowed to fill the hole, comprise a compromise portion...
X Fade they're just not good at explaining things
What happens if the spoon won't allow them to fill it? Will a few sneak through anyway?
You gather the spaghetti into a grouping when it's dry, put it through the hole, and the amount that fits is a serving.
The uncooked ones
They didn't explain the hole in the spaghetti spoon very well. By "measure out one serving" they mean measure out *uncooked* spaghetti. The amount of uncooked spaghetti that fits in the hole is the equivalent of one cooked serving. It's much easier than using a separate spaghetti measuring tool, which works the same way. Need 10 servings? Measure out 10 times. You don't need a bigger hole. Now I crave spaghetti. 🍝
Me too. Making spaghetti for dinner now. LOL
You use the hole to measure one serving when the spaghetti is dry. In other words, before cooking.

#9 is wrong. The hole in the pen cap is to let air escape when it's being placed on the pen. Otherwise, the air pressure inside it would prevent the cap from going on all the way or push it off later. The hole is also on aerosol can caps.

Yes
@@coltranecoltrane3005 How the fuck does a hole in the pen cap prevent choking?
Correct
@young... Seriously, think before you comment. It prevents choking by LETTING AIR THROUGH. There was a major campaign about this in the media when I was at school, previously they didn't have holes. Also at this time in history retailers plactic bags didn't have holes in them. Presumably you can't see how this would prevent suffocation either.
