  • Since I happen to have the same rockler sled, I tried your method of cutting the miters and it worked out well. That sled is very easy to true up against the blade with a plastic engineer’s square. The result was perfect, crisp joints. I don’t think I’ll need to build a dedicated picture frame sled after all.

  • My frames I have made for years are almost identical, splines and all. I don’t do the rabbets quite as deep but I may try that next time I mill up some stock. The look is awesome without being distracting from the subject of the frame. A trick I have found on the splines is if they fit a bit tight is to hammer the spline like you are trying to flatten them. Flatten just enough where they slide easily into the slot. When you put the glue on the spline stock it will swell back up so install it without delay. I do this because the spline material is not always perfectly consistent in thickness even when I’m careful. You did a great job on the video. Thanks👍
