I’m more impressed with whoever is in charge of counting the skips so accurately
Eh they just slow it down and count em
Saying the same thing 🤣
On God
You'll hear somebody say this should be in the Olympics 😂
ESPN the Ocho.🤣
Holy. I had no idea I’ve been training my whole life to be an athlete.
Yeah your max of 3 skips and the very rare 4th skip isn't going to get you anywhere lol
Shiiiieeet my record is 27 skips age 14 any body beating me???
Dont listen to let me sleep... Keep on training and dreaming buddy 😁
@@letmesleepinpeace7052 You said that like your skip and a half has been taking you places.
😂😂😂
Im actually curious though. Do they have standardized rocks so that everyone is throwing with the exact same shape rock? Or is walking around and searching for a good stone part of the sport?
They probably cheat by keeping a choice stone in their sleeve
Exactly what I was thinking
I saw a vid of a comp where they were using clay stones. They're all the same size and shape, apparently a good match weight wise to a stone. Also they break down after sinking 👍
Lol….Halarious..imagine the senior fist fights over the flattest stones!
Hahahahaha
I've never seen someone skip rocks and thought, "this guy should go pro". Didn't know you could.
😭
Welcome to America, you can make a career out of the most random shit
The man in this video looks homeless so I’d like to think they just picked him off the street and gave him some stones
🤣
Glad to know I'm not the only one left out
I was today’s years old when I found out competitive rock skipping existed.
Right? No one told me that this was an option at career day..
Well there's a competitive slapping competition so-
I was like 10 years old when "today years old" was unoriginal and cringy. Shut up.
@@ridiculousrandy1401 Says the guy who uses first name last name as his username with some dumbass skeleton. Pretty tough hiding behind that keyboard huh. Feeling the need to comment something like this shows your character. Clearly, something in your life isn't going well, so you have nothing else better to do than portray that negative energy onto others. You must be highly successful.
@@creaky2436 Damn, someone feels called out. And by the way, that "dumbass" skeleton is Skeletor from the He-Man series. You'd know that if you didn't have a TikTok IV running into your carotid artery at all times.
The announcers are working their way into professional bowling and eventually Major League Darts. Gotta start somewhere I guess!
News anchors never start out in big markets like NY or LA they always start out in the smaller markets I guess it makes sense 😆 🤣
Bruh, comment so underrated😂
Bowling at least has altercations that make it 1 out 10 times interesting the other 9 out of 10 I can't say your wrong🤣🤣🤣
Darts is very big in the UK so if he gets into pro darts that would be good for him
Curling !!!
As impressive as the guy who throws the stone is the guy who can count the skips.
It's an algorithm. :{
The fish count it
its the fish
English 100.
Its on video. They can slow it down and count. You think basketball announcers just know all the stats by heart too?
Gotta be the only sport where u can still be an MVP at 68 years old
Golf
Arm wrestling
Shooting
Chess
@@icedtohfuu9555 Actually not true lol
Since when does ESPN cover Rock skipping competitions?!
ESPN el ocho is branching out
My thought when I saw this too! 🤣
@@jesmichel my experience even though I'm not much of a sports guy ESPN usually covers the more popular sports. I would imagine Rock skipping is probably pretty low on the totem pole as far as having an audience looking to view it
@@HighTide_808 weird
same shit i was thinking
The fact that this made it to espn is more impressive than the skips themselves
Quite the conundrum
You crack me up bro funny as hell 😂🤣😂🤣😂
EXTREME!
You sure? Those skips were very important imo😂
On 8/8 every year they host the Ocho on espn 8. 24 hours of the weirdest sports imaginable including this, contact juggling, electrician competition etc
ESPN in 2047: “WOW, he really dried off quickly straight out the bath right there!” “Let’s see who can beat his time of 4.30 seconds”
The "Now that's a big number and can be intimidating to the guys that haven't thrown yet" had water come out of my nose from laughing so hard
.. and coffee out of mine even though it was probably the fifth time I heard it but I happen to read your comment in perfect sync with the announcer so it made an extra funny
Next year they should skip gallstones
Took him off the corner, but he still slanging rocks. . .
Not bad!
😂😂😂
Lmao
Bravo.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Imagine how many dragonflies this dude has killed
Not many
Probably none. They aren't as stupid/slow as you seem to think.
Don't tell PETA.
Not a damn one.🙄
Probably none. Dragonflies are the most agile insects there are and they have 5 eyes that gives them extremely good vision.
Why has noone told me this is an actual sport??!? I love skipping rocks
Prismo, you can grant any wish, why not just host you own tournament?
Any pass time can be an actual sport if you just make it a competition
I will never show this to my son. He makes me feel like a rock star cause I can get 2!
Leave men alone long enough EVERYTHING becomes a sport/competition. 💪🏾
Truly sad
@@Sir-Red how is that sad?
@@AK33M how is that not sad, why can’t everyone just live together why compete
@Something Different would be fantastic if I wasn’t naturally unable to due sports since my lungs suck…born with asthma and all…I like the concept of sports buddy…but the “my team Is better” leads to toxicity and cult like behavior, if we can somehow have healthy behavior before it gets a lot worse than I’m happy …it’s going to be okay buddy ❤️
@@Sir-Red competition ≠ toxicity Like @Something Different said, without our competitive nature, we may not even exist. Maybe you've noticed that nearly every successful species shares this quality, it's a must. What I'm about to say is probably controversial, and I truly do not mean to be rude, having asthma is not a good trait to have, and while I do not want you to be treated differently, the more that we cater to negative qualities, the more we will develop, there's really no more natural selection for the human race, we've gotten rid of it except for a few extreme cases. I don't think that a non competitive mindset is progressive. While it is important that we conduct ourselves for society to function, I really don't think we should fight our nature that much, our society will not function, we will not be able to have relationships, you're wanting to get rid of all the qualities that have gotten us to where we are, it's a gamble.
This is waaaay harder than it looks to anyone who just brushed this off.
No. No it is not.
Whatever. So is working 40hrs a week without the central planners holding your hand. What about mowing the lawn or vacuuming the house as a pro sport on ESPN? Somehow those events will be racist, though.
@@davidpatton7298 Well, you’ve inspired me to complete your hypothetical triathlon: mowing the lawn, vacuuming , and washing your car…..I’m in!
@@noitallmanaz then by all means make your short video proving me wrong. With out that your just a normal troll talking shit on the internet because your life is sad. Facts is facts.
I actually was just at this competition in Bennington VT about two weeks ago Judges actually count skips by sight. No tools or measuring devices used.
"That can be intimidating for those who havent thrown yet" Man id look over to my wife whos been supporting me on my rock skipping journey for the last 10 years and say "i love you very much honey but ill see you back in the car." And walk away in pure defeat 😂😂😂
Look at how athletic that guys build is! He's been working on this for a while
Skipping rocks like this is surprisingly easy, then again I was a pitcher
His body is from lumber jack competition, he just does this for fun 😂
🤣👍
@@lunchNsinners 🧢 man. You try doing 40 skips lmao
@@luke_222 i can easily do 40 skips lol and i can do it with a random rock i find on the ground
I am so happy the commentator and I were on the same wavelength with that “Nice chuck, you don’t often say that unless the guys name is Chuck...” comment. Just top tier stuff
Hahahahaha you're quite funny dude. I was focused on that comment too haha
"Nice chuck" like wtf what that guy did was mesmerizing
i was watching this live i still get goosebumps watching it again here.
Wow!, where do you get tickets for such a heart stopping event, I imagine it was super crowded there! Can you imagine all the infrastructure that had to be in place ?, like having traffic control, an emergency paramedic crew on standby, etc... and then you would have to get Mrs. Murphy's permission to use her septic tank ( I mean pond ), it would be a logistics nightmare!
@@robertmann7277 lol
This has inspired me to quit my job and dedicate my life to becoming a rock skipping athlete
Possible sponsors...
Why not ? At least your health will benefit of fresh air
@@WillSurvive2TheEnd Good one, I wish I could give you (FIVESIES).
Won’t the lake just eventually fill up with rocks
Ironically, I almost *skipped* ... this video... Turns out, this clip is solid...as a ROCK... A skill that shouldn't be taken for... -granite- *granted* . This performance will be etched...in STONE for sure. The next guy is going to be stuck between a......ROCK and a hard place if his toss isn't even -boulder- bolder than this one. I mean really... what a GEM of a throw. And yes...I'm aware... my comments have hit...ROCK bottom....
“Oh yeah? Lemme just erase it from your memory”
Hahahah this is amazingggg😂😂
I think your comment gave me cancer
This comment made me hard as a rock
Do you have a child? Even my dad wouldn’t be able to come up with these.
I understand now, this is what the combination of peak physical and mental fitness looks like.
I was TODAY years old when learning that rock skipping was a sport worthy of ESPN footage 😳
Didn't know this was an actual sport. Learn something new everyday.
Yeah I'm 51 yrs young😊and never knew this was an actual sport🏹 you never know it may come to the Olympics🤔
I guess we're just calling anything a sport now a days. There HAS to be a different name to help differentiate throwing a rock or playing video games from full contact football or sprinting as fast as possible.
@@jpatt85 dude can u skip a damn rock 42xs?? I guarantee you couldn’t get over 10 skips and u probably haven’t stood by a river bank in months. I know it’s not football but it’s a skill like the shot put, all u do there is spin and throw a weighted object, skipping a rock that many times is harder.
@@chowderwhillis9448 Pfffffff🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣😂😂. Can I skip a rock??? 😭😭😭 Dude, I'm sure "rock skipping" is a difficult skill to master... so is sewing and welding and accounting and cooking and speed reading and glass blowing etc. Hear me out dude. I'm just saying that games that require skill but not much physical exhortation should fit into a different category. Maybe "novelty sports" or something like that 🤔
@@jpatt85 Only Europeans have football. american 'football' is not a sport either.
Sigma Rule 69: Don’t ever question a mans posture when skipping rocks 🥶🙏📸💯😡🤷♂️💦👽
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sigma?
The world needs more of this ASAP.
Thanks to youtube I could see so many people with unbelievable talent around the world ❤️
When I was a kid my dad would skip a rock on the water so many time it would blow every ones mind, even strangers just walking by had to stop and end up talking to my dad for like 15 mins about it lol good times good times..😌😔🤧😌
This is exactly what I would imagine someone would look like who does this
Ha
When locked down happened this was actually the only thing on ESPN and i was there for it
I get happy when I can do 3 or 4 skips. Wtf this man's on a whole different level.
This had to be on The Ocho. Btw, rest in peace Patches. 🙏
I like how everyone thinks this is an actual espn clip
Considering all the dumb shit they cover I honestly wouldn’t be surprised.
this is exactly what i thought a professional stone skipper would look like
42 is truly the answer to everything
Teacher: What is your dad's work? Kid: He is an athlete Teacher: Woah, what kind of sport that your father play? Kid: It's complicated
No wonder the people in your town aspire to be professional rock skippers. Look how the teacher puts her sentences together
Holy guacamole, I thought it was going to be a bunch of drunk guys at the river throwing stones, had no idea that it's a competitive sport LMFAO!! ✊😂
Dude literally found the answer to the ultimate question
This was incredible. Normal people just try for 2. Super strength and skill
Coming up next - Underdog gym “Average Joes” takes on “Globo-Gym” in a battle for the dodgeball ages. That’s right here on ESPN 8 - The Ocho!!
If it’s almost a sport.. it will be on ESPN 8. The Ocho !!
Plot Twist: *He was aiming for the british ship headed for American Soil* 🇺🇲🗿
Kurt Steiner is a rock skipping legend!
THIS should Seriously be on TV!
Dude in this game i was the champion in my schooling days and get lot of punishment for bunking classes.. When does it considered as sport 🥺🥺 RIP to my teachers 🤣😂🤣
Never seen the Statue of Liberty strike such a pose. Now, a statue of a disc thrower, maybe. ☝🥴
How can ESPN bring you such heart stopping shows!
That's just how he asserts dominance over anyone. It doesn't even have to be an official contest
"He has this, uh, interesting wind-up there. It almost reminds me of a statue of liberty type stan--WHOA look at that!" This seems like watching golf, but fun
I love that a lovely childhood game becomes a competitive sport. Greetings from Germany
Forget all that, look at his drip!! 🔥😄
"Nice Chuck" *pauses* "you dont often say that unless the guy's name is chuck" lol 😆
Lol, ESPN will put anything on when it is t football season 😆 That being said, heck of a throw!
You mean “heck of a chuck!”
Ya know that can be intimidating to the guys who haven't thrown yet
I died when ESPN popped up 😂😂
ESPN: *This looks like a sport broadcast the world was waiting for*
Dude said over 80 is highest and actual 42 was it there, here I thought my 11 skips were hella impressive
I tried skipping rocks a fee months ago for the first time, and I got one big skip. I celebrated 😅
I would have celebrated too haha
The fact this is actually on ESPN i have officially died inside 😂💀
I must be living under that rock, how come I never witness this greatness years ago until now?
This is on ESPN? Cool, why haven’t I seen it? It’s just like darts
My Mind as I saw this: “So, when you were a kid and you said you wanted to be able to skip a stone a lot more, had you continued to try that’s how you’d look by the time you accomplished being able to do so.” Yeah glad I stopped
I must be a world class rock skipper. With good rocks and perfect water like that. GSP once said “I am not impressed.”
Glad you stopped? Why, this old dude looks ripped as hell
Yeah. He’s probably a badazz.
That skip has its own zip code!
"42 skips!" "Ya thats a big number...."
How is this not an Olympic event? I could do it if it was a winter event.
I wouldn't mind that... ribbons is an Olympic sport why not this
Winter? Clever, clever indeed.
Why the hell is this kind of thing considered some kinda competition? This is just something you do with friends when you're near water.
I mean, you can play multi-player so...
Now this is what should be on ESPN 8 - "The Ocho"
Only ESPN could bring you such quality programming ( of course- I'm up at 12:30 watching this )
Next contestant :"and I'm supposed to beat that?!!!"
I'd definitely watch this in Olympics
The very fact that rock skipping is a actual thing on ESPN is mind-blowing. What the heck are we doing
The way he says Nice chuck reminds me of wii sports lmao. Love it
I'm equally impressed wit dude counting the skips
I’d pay for this to be in the Olympics 😂
The part that gets me is the ESPN transition telling you you’re watching a professional level production
My boi did the Statue of Liberty stance
Ducks are like "holy quack look at that"
Mama told him he could be anything he wanted when he grew up.. so he became a professional rock skipper
No one is mentioning the little boat at the end 😂
This is definitely more interesting than any of the talking head shows currently on ESPN.
Life well lived. This is the sum total of continuing to do things you found enjoyable as a child.
Simply amazing. Some say the power is in the beard
Imagine being that rock, living comfortably for years on land to only a brief moment of glory followed by descent into the watery depths, never to be seen again.
“But I did see it, it was the most impressive thing I’d ever seen.”
Ah yes. The old statue of liberty gets them everytime
Legend has it that rock is still skipping to this day
The Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant.
The commentator clearly has never seen the statue of liberty.
🤣 i thought the same thing
"Nice Chuck "😂 "dont often say that unless the guys name is chuck "
I can't believe how clever the person making this video is. Good job.
This guy thru out the meaning of life
Espn covers it all😂😂
Goku & Kurillin throw rock moment:
The sport I didn't know I needed
The camera guy had one job
Fasho a shot put player with that stance bruh said Statue of Liberty I’m weak 😂😂💯
