The music you didn't know you wanted all along
I started listening heavily to both Chiptunes and Metal back around 2007. I said back then that a fusion of the two would be amazing. Some bands sort of talked about it and edged that way a little bit, but I was always disappointed. UNTIL NOW. THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR FOR OVER 10 YEARS. THIS IS IT.
I started listening to metal back in 1989 and chiptune is my thing since i listened to THIS ALBUM the first time. That was some 4-5 years ago. I never knew what i was missing until then. Oh and i love J.S.Bach.^^
Bach and DOS command references. I love you.

Listening to this, I kind of feel there's some underground cult-war between Master Boot Record and Keygen Church.
Seriously underrated shit, blasted it while suffering through the last few levels of Super Meat Boy. Amazing music man!
Last few levels in the light world, that is. Im aware that I have an entire dark world of pain ahead of me lol.
Massive recommendation for if you have/if you're interested in having VR in any point, literally *any* MBR album while playing H3VR Take & Hold. Especially on modded maps like night levels or more tactical scenarios, it goes *hard* lmao
1:54 to 2:30 Notices eyes get watery, I feel a tear down my chin, and realize how fucking awesome this album is ;-;
That part always makes me think about the end credits of literally any 80's sci-fi adventure movie. *tears*

This is 6 years old ?? it sounds just as good as more recent stuff ! holy shit mbr been making bangers since forever i gotta listen to more !
1:01:51 - I see, 486DX-33Mhz-64mb processing avant-garde chiptune really likes Bach.
I love how the first track feels so chaotic and yet so melancholic at the same time. Like having a brain aneurysm while being overstimulated by your surroundings, leading to this beautiful, horrifying, unorganized, loud, insane mess of instrument and emotion. Wait, that was just the first song?
Decoding the description from its *decimal representation* to ASCII: When the Moon will shed no light With the Equinox close by In the dark a spellware rise Riding on a lightning strike Made of circuit boards and bytes Forged to cross our space and time Thru the storm my soul will guide To the path for glory and might Now just take some of your time While we share this ritual night There's a secret gift that hides But won't come without a fight First you need to get the rhyme When here comes the darkest night Then you take the first 8 bytes Count the pins and normalize Once you got the numbers right Just beware the odds are lies Line them in a row and write That will put the code in sight Now don't stress and take your time Sometimes words can trick your mind For in ASCII code you'll find The solution to these rhymes
I am a Japanese gamer. This artist is great. I feel a respect for extremely old school games from this artist. Especially Last Armageddon. Very good music and I would love to see them live. I would love to hear an arrangement of Samurai Spirits or something like that.
"dang that sounds pretty intense, what are you listening to?" "KEYBOARD!!!!!!!!"
That moment when the KZhead recommendation is right on the money. This absolutely kills!!
Fucking fantastic amalgamation of metal, classical and heavy distorted electronic. The ending arpeggio's on IRO 7 PRINTER literally had every hair on my arm stand on end for the rest of the album.
--IRQ 12 VGA was amazing-- --Every music in this album were amazing-- Every music this band makes ARE amazing
It's like someone was trying to make a guitar vst work but the plugin simply wasn't good enough for realism, so they decided to fully embrace the syntheticness of the instruments and ran with it. I love it. As someone who was in this situation but decided to look harder instead and found a decent guitar, I feel like I just found my brother in music.
Man. I wish I could stream with these jams running. Spread the MBR love, get awesome blastin' music. Too much winning for everyone I guess.

@@MasterBootRecord Awesome! Thanks!
@@MasterBootRecord thats great to hear... Love this type of music (especially when playing high speed racing games)
1:01:51 as a classical- metal musician, this is glory to my ears Toccata and Fugue was my first piece of music to adapt to a metal setting and this is just a killer adaptation
This is a masterpiece on the level of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, or Vivaldi. Superb.
Master Boot Record is the neo-baroque of music.
the first track literally rips me apart and puts me back together ITS SO GOOD
As I first listened to the opening song, I think I was writing, and I just stop after the initial riff comes in and am like...."Okay, I fucking love this." It's like chip-tune meets metal meets classical meets pop-punk. I somehow get the visual of flying through an open and sunny sky with no limits and endless possibilities. Thank you MBR for this amazing stuff.
This album is 6 years old??? Now i feel old
The first song... when the two melodies come together at the end of the bars into one cascade.... gives my life meaning and purpose *chef kiss*
this has to be one of the best, if not THE best new music I've discovered in my life.
I've heard a lot of attempts at 'midi-metal'. This is the only one that actually makes me think I'm at a concert. With Malmsteen, Loureiro, and Michael Romeo trying to out-do each other. Awesome stuff!

Your albums keep getting better and better. Also that Bach at 1:02:30 sent shivers down my spine. Awesome work!
If you liked that Bach reference then you should really try to solve the crypto riddle of the album and get the Beethoven 5th 1st Movement Allegro con brìo rework ;)
You just made my day, well night actually. I can't wait to hear the master at work. Off I go to solve the riddle then.
I posted some hints in the thread about it on my facebook page, just in case.

HOW OLD is your computer that it still has ISA?! And how do you have ISA >AND< AGP?! :D
@@janglur Well, I have a 20L0938 motherboard with a 20L0967 daughterboard over here. (Mounted with almost all components, i.e. there's an S3 Trio on the motherboard, but the AGP slot is mounted next to it.)

Damnit why does this have to be so damn amazing! If I could get a concert with Master Boot Record, We Are Magonia, Dance With The Dead, and Fraunhofer Diffraction in one lineup I'd gladly die after the show satisfied with my life.
That's an interesting mix. No clue what Master Boot Record is considered in terms of genre, but it's definitely not synthwave like We Are Magonia/Dance With The Dead.... and isn't Fraunhoffer Diffraction witch house?! * I love all of the musicians you mentioned, which is why I'm surprised to see them all mentioned together :)

This SCSI is pure genius. I come back for it from times to times, always gets me.

Maybe not the only one anymore, but certainly the best, even though that is good.

It's because you're only reading it no writing it
Clearly a phenomenal amount of effort was put into this masterpiece, and the results are in spades! Thank you! Do you have more neoclassical work?

My god! I have very few favourites of all time. This is by far the best MBR have done. With the master piece of Robocop! Thank you guys BTW my father was a pianist!
Someone here is a big fan of The Algorithm. Very well, because nobody created such interresting music before The Algorithm, so competition of imitators is very welcome.
Eh, i was making tunes like this back in 2007; and if were talking anything close; trent reznor would laugh at that comment alongside gary numan.
Bar.... raised! I've been digging into the whole synth wave lately and become addicted! So much so that I'll be promoting this music in Copenhagen with some friends of mine. Thanks again!
Oh my god I just listened to the first 10 minutes of the album and it's already one of my favourite albums Greetings from France, I love your music dude you're gonna get shared
Sometimes I forget how rad your music is MBR. Thank you for what you bring into the world.

I am not really into electronic music but this is sheer brilliance. Thank you for sharing!
IRQ 3 Modem - you have captured the sadness I was in and these are my favorite chords, beautiful, truly beautiful, thank you for everything.
I just saw your live cubase video. You make beautiful music, I tip my hat to you because I feel I could never sync up any music like that the way you do. God bless.
Hey MBR, I started work on jamming along to IRQ 0 System Clock today. Some of the ideas I had are coming together right away and some will take some work obviously because you're a great keyboard player and programmer. Thanks so much for giving me permission to work on this in chat last week!!! It's such an honor and I hope I don't suck completely lol! Also a friend of mine says I can do it all out of Reaper with my 11 rack so it'll be better than a laptop's cam mic lol! I'm not sure whether to use the plug in sound I got from choptones which is brutal AF, or the good old Soldano SLO 50 watt with the 57. Decisions, decisions lol! The guitar will be the trusty Agile AL 3000 Black Beauty Copy, leads from the Hot Slag in the neck pickup, and chords from the Entwhistle HDN in the bridge. I have no idea how long this will take, I just started. You're wicked awesome Master Boot Record and you Rule!!!

you know it's rare these days for me to partake in the simple activity of just listening to music and nothing else. it's always while I am doing something else. you know, the supporting cast but never the lead. not today. it was a bit of luck that I found this as my days of seeking out every piece of new music are behind me. so it is both awe inspiring and frustrating to know that works of art like this are out there passing me by when fortune may not be favoring me. suffice it to say i found this a masterful re imagining of genres that deeply resonated with my nerd soul. you have my thanks.
This means a lot to me. Thanks, really.
Oh my God... this is more than Beautiful. No Words.
Other "Musicians": Drugs, sex, alcohol, cars, money. MASTER BOOT RECORD: GLORIOUS ROCK-CHIPTUNE SONGS
Dude, your music is godlike! Myself mostly metalhead, but your music is tearing my soul(in good way). Thank you for your art. P.S. Baited by ansi.sys
Love this! This is the first album I bought in a long time. Keep it up!
Same here. Discovered here, downloaded in torrent, listened few tracks, bought discography. Only one "album" found in torrent but not on bandcamp, I suppose for rights issues ?
What a concept
OMG🤯 this is the sickest synthwave I have ever heard 😎🚙🎶
Not synthwave I think
I just bought all albums! This music is awesome. My 3 loves from the times I was young: metal, Bach and chiptunes ;) Not to mention things like vintage PCs and other retro computer stuff ;) BTW, no love for Windows 3.1? :)
It warms my soul knowing there are nerds out there making stuff like this.
I gave a cry of astonishment. I saw and thought nothing of the other four Martian monsters; my attention was riveted upon the nearer incident. Simultaneously two other shells burst in the air near the body as the hood twisted round in time to receive, but not in time to dodge, the fourth shell.
My eye's are bleeding pixels. Beautiful!
I would call this... Electric Rock Opera
did you really not use any analog instrument/synth, even for the melodies ? Or ideas from playing instrument, you must play some instruments right? I'm amazed by those melodies mostly. Really tight, great sound in many aspects & incredible musical feel and balance. That must've taken a while. It reminds me a lot of The Algorithm and indeed classical music, but definitely with your own sound, and I've listened some sick chiptune in my life but this is just breathtaking. Congrats
Everything is programmed. But yes I do play guitars, bass and keys too. On the live set I'll play guitar and I have a drummer. You can find a rehearsels video in my channel. As for the time to produce it I'm usually really fast. To write the rough part of this album took me 2 weeks since it was a bit more complex. When I started a year ago I wrote the first 4 albums in 3 weeks and released them on the spot around 1 or more song a day between 1-sep-2016 and 22-sep-2016.
what a fucking legend
You're gonna get famous and rich for this. Famously rich. (Or at least you will have something to be proud of when you die of hunger in the streets.) This is so fucking deep. Keep doing the good work, the audience will come. Mark my words.
sadly majority of the world won't give a fuck and call this trash. Audience will come, but probably won't be big, this is really great music anyways. so as long as Master Boot Record doesn't become lazy he can work with his knowledge in the music scene for 100%. keep it up man, its awesome
I have been building independent websites and skate graphics for my clients while jamming the hell out of this music for years now!!! THANK YOU for making this available to jam out here on KZhead!.... How could I go about getting proper permission to use some of this music for some simple intro/outro stuff on a little web design tutorial piece I'm working on? Would list your links and stuff in credits at minimum of course, haha! Keep up the kick ass music!! I recommend you guys to people all the time \m/
if its a non commercial thing you can use it ;)
@@MasterBootRecord Right on! THANKS!! I'll keep you posted :)
Outstanding work! Wish I found this gem sooner
Received the vinyl today, great quality, thanks for what you do.
My cassette came in today. Time to dust off the ol tape deck.
SCSI - sounds like what dragonforce always wanted to play on guitars
I love this. I love this a whole lot.
I'll form a tribute band, called Null Pointer. 16bit MIDI for da winz!
One Finger Death Punch 2 brought me here. Nice to hear the rest of the album!
Top half of Description. Translated. When the Moon will shed no light With the Equinox close by In the dark a spellware rise Riding on a lightning strike Made of circuit boards and bytes Forged to cross our space and time Thru the storm my soul will guide To the path for glory and might Now just take some of your time While we share this ritual night There's a secret gift that hides But won't come without a fight First you need to get the rhyme When here comes the darkest night Then you take the first 8 bytes Count the pins and normalize Once you got the numbers right Just beware the odds are lies Line them in a row and write That will put the code in sight Now don't stress and take your time Sometimes words can trick your mind For in ASCII code you'll find The solution to these rhymes 89 111 117 32 97 114 101 32 119 101 108 99 111 109 101
I love this music so much I hope you get world famous.
Digital classical
I like the cover art. I am a fan when I see it. The music helped calm me down.
Really good stuff. Unfortunately I do not know enough about coding to decypher the bonus, but I am looking into it...
If you get the Floppy CD you also get a card with a way more simple code
insane album, been a minute since i found something this great
Because I often sleep during the day I put in hearing protection and then over the ear headphones and play music or podcast type talking. I have found master boot record sounds particularly good this way, blasted through over the ear headphones right into hearing protection ear plugs. You can feel the bass
