This sounds absolutely like something that would require you to log on to their server to install a game even if you own a physical copy. Meaning they could shut down your access to stuff you bought, even if it’s a physical copy.
That's 100 percent going to happen, and fans will defend it.
That basically what online only games seems to be already when they get a boxed copy (which is kind of silly but sad when reality sinks in).
@@jonasking9587 I can’t agree with that. I consider myself an AC fan and not only would I not defend it, I wouldn’t buy the games any longer. I’d be extremely vocal about my opposition to it.
Reminds me of what EA was doing for a bit in 2010s having codes in games to stop used games being sold.
they can shut down any of your “physical” games right now. your disc is only the key but when they remove the door your just left with a drawer full of useless keys. Disney will have its own live service universe through fortnite soon enough! i have personally been waiting for something like infinity before it was even announced. i always envisioned AC franchise to evolve to be a live service like social hub/ mmo just imagine choosing assassin or abstergo each with their own nexus, for pvp and from there, we the player are the main protagonist. choosing story modes in multiple timelines, pvp from blackflag, mp from unity and or just hang out in our bases and socialize while waiting for expansions and add ons. i enjoy paying for subs as long as they’re worth it via currency to respend in the marketplace
I've been wearing Ezio's robes in every game since AC2. Worked just fine without a fucking battle pass launcher thing

Remember, with Ubisoft you will never purchase the game, you will only rent access.
At full price plus expensive dlc
so like rent or a loan
this is the worse...
Unfortunately, that is true of every single computer game you have ever purchased. Since the very beginning of the industry, what we have always purchased is licenses. It just feels like this is new because technology is now making it more possible for companies to police and do shitty things regarding these licenses. Old issue. New problem.

Well, I can’t say it was the best series of games I’ve ever played, but it had some pretty memorable moments. So long Assassin’s Creed, it was nice knowing ya.
Im with you on that one
Assassin's creed died with Desmond and ubisoft died with the release of AC Odyssey
@@are3287while I agree with you the only AC games currently I enjoy is mirage and I'm still intrigued about hex
@@are3287 ac origins and odyssey were amazing. So was blackflag. Just because you might not like them, it doesn't make them bad games.
@tylmf "assassins creed died with Desmond." Oops. It's incredible that people can have actually different opinions on games you dislike. Wild, right? For me, the ac games combat mostly sucked. The old games combat was basically the worst in all of gaming. Mundane button mashing that doesn't reward skill or even require any. Ac origins drastically improved the combat for me. Odyssey refined it even further. The stealth was better. (It was actually fun going around and being able to stealth kill entire camps). It wasnt the old wait for enemy to attack, press block button, press attack button, --> repeat and win combat against 20000 enemies.
When you were reading the description of ac red they actually showed ad for hellblade 2 lol
Shhhh. You’re ruining the narrative dude
Ubisoft is a franchise that would be SO MUCH better off being if their IP assassins creed would be bought by other studios. Imagine sucker punch the makers of ghost of Tsushima cooking something crazy with assassins creed

AC hasn't "sounded great" for a really long time now. They have such a great lP but their execution has been a$$water
Agreed. It's a shame they only view it as a money printing franchise. The IP is so unique and has unfathomable potential for great sci-fi. And they're not even trying to make it interesting. Wasted on lazy writing and corporate greed.
@@MrHoll87 exactly and that's what pi$$es me off the most. They bungled the story and premise so hard. I think the worst part is that they are actually trying to make it interesting but just don't know how

@@kreb12I'd say revelations was still good but 3 onwards AC died, out of animus and other ac universe stuff became boring and obnoxious in every game from then on and the only positive thing since was the pirate simulator
This is kinda unrelated to the topic of this video, but I want to shout out that the modders of the AC fandom have done a great job with Definitive AC Parkour mod. For anyone who haven't heard of it, it's a mod that improve many aspects of the Ezio Trilogy parkour. For example, things such as adding the vaults, swing off beams, pull up pole, dive beam, disable ledge stop,...The parkour now has even more freedom of expressions than before!
I have no use for a broader platform to play AC. I just want a good single player experience. Preferably offline. In general, AC is one of my favorite franchises. I love AC games, and have them all, but all this nonsense is just frustrating.
Same except I dont have origins or valhalla or the chronicles games. But man, it's dead, it's been dead for ages. The only hope is that an indie studio makes a game with a similar core that AC once had.
@@are3287 I don't think AC is dead at all. Origins was a magnificent experience. One of my favorite AC games. Valhalla was fun too, although all the supernatural business annoyed me. And AC Mirage was much more fun than I first expected, and it was a good addition to the franchise. UBI has been experimenting with the series, because they have to evolve it, to keep it alive, and that sadly doesn't always go in the direction I personally would like, but in general the series has been quite good.
While Luke was reading the first article, a Hellblade II trailer popped up and that’s hands down the first and only marketing I’ve seen for that game so far 💀
I've never understood Ubisoft. Every big publisher has had their time in the spotlight by trying to pull off bizare monetization schemes, but Ubisoft seems to NEVER get it right. UPlay, back in the day when it still existed, had some weird coin microtransaction store currency thing that could be carried across games as well and it was just the most pointless, stupid part of every Ubisoft game released during that time period. Then they started pointing XP bonuses in all their games a few years ago, and are now trying to do this amalgamation of a Fortnite/Game Pass/battlepass thing. All the monetization schemes Ubisoft does are so weird and half baked, I wouldn't be surprised if this falls on its face just like everything else they have tried in the past.
I would not call Uplay and that XP system a microtransaction monetization scheme cause I don't think any real world money was involved with those systems
Because ubisoft keeps trying to create games instead of reselling 10 remakes or leeching off a live service.
@@j.t.6741 It's been a while since it's been around but I definitely remember seeing promos for UPlay+ or something and it was a monthly subscription that gave those UPlay points to spend on random trinkets and what not.
@@j.t.6741the XP booster is most certainly connected to real money... you have to buy helix credits, or something along that line. In Odyssey the XP booster required 10$ worth if helix credits. But the problem is making a game that would NEED to buy an XP booster because otherwise it is SO darned grindy. I'd rather pay more upfront and have a streamlined fun game than have them artificially inflate the price _after_ I bought it just because I don't have 40 hours a week to grind for ________.

That is a weird choice, especially given Japan’s famous insularity.
Do your research before talking nonesense yasuke did exist. And he was Black so wtf you wanted? A white African? Geeez.....
Not surprising given the political leanings (at least outwardly) from Ubisoft. As an Indian, I cannot wait for when they cast an Eskimo for a character in Maharashtra.
Their using an actual historical figure as their character. The guy existed in real life. A black samurai. But you are probably like 9 and don’t know this so you get a pass
@@cadekoeppen8932 they are not using this very obvious outlier in the JAPANESE samurai for any reason but politics, if you cannot see that then you are blind. so it's like ubisfot + for ac games?
2:48 What do you mean since AC Chronicles ? It was always a female protagonist since AC Odyssey. Then AC Valhalla. Both game had canon female protagonists
Ac odyssey and Valhalla also syndicate, you had the option of picking between male and female protagonist , hexe will only let you play as a female
I don't need 999 costumes for a singleplayer story game. Tbh i don't need them even in the multiplayer game, but i can see how if you play one game ALOT you will want some variety, or if something like Fortnite have crossover with your favorite franchize
They finally did it. The "platform" for microtransactions isn't even hidden anymore, it's the main feature. Games and content are secondary. Third-party AAA (or AAAA according to Ubisoft) is done.
Nothing Ubisoft makes is good enough to get me to sign up to a subscription.
I hear ¨live-service¨ instantly roll my eyes
If they want it to be a real hub then AC Brotherhood multiplayer and AC4 battleship should revived and refurbished for it.
Feels like all AAA studios tripling down on live-service with majority of them getting shut down within 1 - 2 years due to launch failures & predatory game mechanics.
Too many of us, myself included, stick with franchises we loved in the hope they improve back to what there used to be, and it is time we just moved on from bad games and toxic companies and only buy good games no matter where they come from. There are plenty of good AA games out there.
All I’m saying is that while I despise the sheer volume of live-service features we’ve been getting from publishers that are blatant half-baked cash grabs; if it comes with a parkour challenges feature a la AC Brotherhood, I’m willing to overlook a lot of things lol. Cuz there are days where I open up an AC game just to run around for a bit, so having a platform that readily supports that (and could maybe count as progress to a battle pass) would be really nice
Ubisoft is asking to get riot I swear 😂
"It's like Call of Duty HQ." Oh...you mean the thing that makes CoD games irritating to play and routinely breaks them? Great. Cool. Coolcoolcool.

The only sure thing in Ubisoft gaming practices is that they will make whatever it is worse than it was before.
So basically the master chief collection but assassins creed?
Anyone remember the launch of the Master Chief Collection? That's where this is going, trust me. Ubisoft execs will assume their devs are magic and can crowbar together multiple games regardless of what engine they run on, and not give them the time or resources to actually figure it out.
Oh look, something I'll never touch.
This whole “platform” is the biggest reason why I’m waiting to buy Shadows until after all content has been released and likely buy it used or at the most on sale. Having the store in the games has been a slippery slope and now we’ve reached the apex. As much as I love this franchise , even with all its flaws. and it’s going to be really hard to wait to play Shadows, I want to stand firm on showing that I am a customer that is not on board with this, even if it’s in vain.
Man a battle pass for a single player game sounds crazy stupid to me lol
So infinity is AC themed home shopping network.
My question is why? I know AC is a pretty big franchise but idk anyone who’s going out of their way to play AC anymore. I haven’t been excited for an AC game since BF. I know AC has its fans but it doesn’t make sense to me
If this is true, I’m no longer buying any Ubisoft games. Its not that hard since they’ve been making VERY mediocre games recently
So it will be a paid subscription on top of the ubisoft plus they already have?!
Aspetta wtf

Assassin's Creed Infinity seems to be yet another AAA monetization platform disguised as a video game. So hard pass for me. I honestly don't get why some people spend money on these live service games, even if they're mega-fans. There are so many better options out there where the companies value you as a customer, instead of them treating you as a cattle.
AC's peak was the trilogy imo.
I genuinely cannot comprehend how gaming executives can't get it through their thick skulls, after ALL the time, that when you COMPLETELY focus on just making a damn good game that is what sells. Making a fucking solid product with passion and a dedicated vision.
CRSED from 2019 does it right: you launch the game and hit the queue. Two clicks. Everything else, MTX and Battle Pass is part of the Steam store page and an extra menu in-game. Nothing is preventing you from playing the game, no launchers outside of Steam itself, no silly pop ups every time you start the game, literally the perfect UX. I wished Ubisoft would eventually reach that level of UX.
I wasn't gonna buy it but this video very enlightening 👍
Sounds like what the new Hitman does , a hub for specific assassination missions but with more focus on micro transactions.
Here at Ubisoft we released an AC called Mirage. Although a smaller game, fans seemed to love the streamlined/ focused approach that focused on gameplay first. No microtransactions this time, and we happy did post launch work to update with some community requested features. Yeh fuck that moving forward.
Didn't Mirage flop? The buzz disappeared real quick and they had a play for free event last month.

Good video. FYI, while it is absolutely illegal in the US to pay for good reviews and to give false good reviews for money, you should still be cautious of it for a few reasons: 1. The fines to a company for soliciting a false favorable review are peanuts compared to the potential revenue gain to be had from doing it. 2. Very often, they can get away with doing it as long as the reviewer lets people know that they were paid for the review. Once they do that, only the most egregious fraudulent reviews become subject to litigation (like saying The Day Before is an amazing game before launch). 3. Without getting into the political side of it, the agencies that protect consumers in this way (like the FTC) are all under assault at the moment trying to strip them of their ability to make policy on one end, and to enforce policy through their own system of judges on the other end. So, these protections may either go away or become impossible to enforce. As I result, I would stick to reviewers you trust with a good track record and keep alert for statements that a company says that make no sense, seem too good to be true, or that make claims about their games with no extended gameplay footage and/or review copies out early enough for reviews to work with them prior to release.
“I get a chubb everytime I play”
My thought with this is... how many different "Game modes" can they have for assassin's creed? These are mostly single-play experiences, with some games having multiplayer modes, but they got rid of that a looonngggg time ago. Are they bringing those multiple player modes back? If not, is this hub to just switch between single-player games? Who is going to start an AC game, and get bored, and go a play a DIFFERENT AC game?? Then switch BACK to the first game??? psychopaths
Yeah man, I just don’t care about how nice the marketing team is at Ubisoft. I agree with Bill Hicks about marketers.
The timing is pretty smart from a marketing standpoint, just bundle your sh*tty game hub bs with a game in the most anticipated setting since probably the start of the series 😂
It almost seems like Ubisoft is saying, "hey, we can't seem to give players ANYTHING they want, so let's give them EVERYTHING they don't want."
Im surprised they aren’t requiring a sub to ubisoft+ to use this.

If they pull a big W then amazing and i will be happy to be wrong but i feel like this is how The master chief collection started and i feel like this is going to be so big that we wont have room for other games. And micrò transactions seem like the priority which it should not be. I hope it succeeds but if it falls i wont be surprised. Dont preorder wait till it releases
they added daily quests on a game launcher... and you have to pay for them lol
I think if we want to stop these sort of messed-up practices, then the streamers are the best candidates to lead by example. Because Ubislop isn't gonna stop any time soon, and there's plenty of young, impressionable people that will follow their favourite streamers word like holy writ. I checked out of Ubi several years ago. Assassins creed: Just catch up to the modern day and finish the bloody story! Far Cry: ooooooo I wonder what famous actor is gonna play the next villain? What? Protaganist who? Watchdogs: Just... no
It's just a launcher, that's it. It's marketing guff
AC was a fantastic game in the beginning. Looking back and despite the different environments (Italy, Pirates, Greece, Vikings) it now seems a bit too repetitive to me.The last one I enjoyed was Odyssey. I am not even considering Mirage cause from what I have seen it seems like same old, same old.
delisting is bound to happen Luke cmon with all those collectors editions that they dropped over the years yea this is guaranteed gonna be one of if not the most egregious events to date in Ubisofts canon mark my words Ubisoft is all too predictable
These companies can probably get away with micro transactions if they just didn’t try Fortnite prices. More realistic prices like $3 for skins and allowing them to be transferred in between games would likely be more profitable.
It doesn’t make the game easier with fallout first because there’s many months I can’t afford it because I have other bills as an adult and I can still have just as much fun. It’s pay for convenience. Basically not paid to win.
I am tired of people saying devs arent responsible. They are making these games. They are making the monetization systemes. They are making the game rely on monetization. Devs deserve the same blame the studio gets.
