interesting game, I'm pretty sure skinwalker mod would be great for it to make random deer repeat your phrases, and also would give more of a reason to use proximity chat

Or if all the NPC deer honk like the deer in Valheim. But that would be deafening...
I'm pretty sure the deer you play as are supposed to be Wendigos. They are deer like humanoids that tend to have a tase for human flesh. If I remember they also make the people living around them insane, which explains the sanity meter. Edit: This is the more modern version of the Wendigo. Thanks to TwilightWolf for pointing that out!
That's kind of a modern bastardization of them. The original native American lore is an emaciated person with pale skin, usually missing skin from their lips/fingers/etc with their skin stretched tight. The deer monster part was just Hollywood changing the folklore. The wendigos in Until Dawn are a lot closer to how they're supposed to look. That being said, the dumb deer monster version works well for this game.

I imagine it's more likely they're based off the "Leshy" (modern interpretations such as the Witcher have a version called the "Leshen"). Simplified, they're guardians of the forest. I think the original was more mischievous in terms of people disrespecting the forest, but for this game it makes sense. After all, the deer are going after a hunter. Understandable that a hunter might incur the wrath of a Leshy. Edit: For clarity, the Leshy is Slavic. Forgot to mention that.
They're American Skinwalkers. They're shapeshifting cryptids who devour their prey except for their skin, which they then stretch tightly over their bodies and contort themselves into the approximate shape of their new disguise. They're well known in legends to disguise themselves as deer, but are also known to wear the skin of your neighbors to lure you out of safety.
I swear that there was another legend in the Appalachians about deer in winter. I distinctly remember as a kid in the 90s I read about how in the deepest of winters starving deer would eat bark from trees as a last resort, causing some species of tree to look like they're bleeding when the deer tried to keep eating the wood beneath in desperation. In these conditions some deer would stand on their hind legs to chew the bark off the lower branches and some in their starvation would just not return to all fours between trees. Deer are NOT obligated to eat plants, they are perfectly happy to eat meat when they can get it, so if it's snowing, the forest looks like it's bleeding, and there are deer walking on their hind legs, a herd of starving deer is entirely capable of killing and eating you. maybe I read it later on and just associate it with my childhood though, I'm pretty sure this is some variation of a skinwalker rather than a wendigo. that said, this version of skinwalker certainly seems to "rhyme" with the wendigo, both stories of the dangers that lie in long winters and starvation.

I wish Ze posted his VODs to YT. I hate the fact that Twitch VODs only last 2 months (YT is also easier to use than Twitch imo) - it sucks that if you need to take a break for whatever reason you're gonna hv to miss out on some of his content & won't be able to binge-watch/ catch up.

The Wendigos in this game look pretty cool, lol.
The deers are too mobile. They should probably not be able to jump while the hunger bar is depleted and maybe not sprint either.
There should be a benefit to eating mushrooms beyond just filling your hunger. That way there's an incentive to give more pings rather than waiting until you're hungry to eat.
One would think that having the word KILL in bold red letters in the top middle of the screen would prevent someone from hiding in a bush for five seconds while the hunter runs for safety.
Gosh I'm looking forward to another soothing Ze video to help me sleep. I sure hope there isn't a loud noise at the end to shock me awake again. I'm sure all the comments are wrong.

Am I missing something or is the winning strategy for the hunter to stay near the cabin, shoot a bunch of non-player deer, and immediately take refuge in the cabin after going insane?
I think there are multiple cabins and only one is chosen. The hunter doesn't seem to know which one will be the one.
Not to mention it is a form of defeat you can only force a draw at that point!

@@kylerivera3470 it says survived not victory, when the hunter defeats all the deers it says victory but when they get to the cabin after failing it says survived!
@@kylerivera3470 This group also tends to treat hunting parties in project winter as a spiritual victory when they can't finish the objective but know who the traitors are. (And I appreciate it bc then content instead of just frustrating knowing failing for 7+ minutes) Sometimes the game and the players disagree on what's a win vs what's a draw lol.
Been loving videos of this game and was super excited to see not only have you played it, but it's a nice long video of it too! Perfect timing finding it right after getting back from exercising and sitting down to dinner and relaxing for the evening!

This probably seems like a dumb statement, but I enjoy Ze's content a lot more when it seems like he's acc having fun. Ngl, as much as I love Ze, sometimes I struggle to watch/ enjoy his content bcos he just constantly seems so stressed. My mood is usually reflective of the creator, so I love seeing him have fun, but seeing him get stressed out also stressed me out.
I hope this game gets more updates, lot more potential for it

The game looks fun, but it seems better for content creators than it does for anyone else. It's a casual game that's good for a laugh, but I couldn't see myself playing it more than once with friends.
