But then they would try to compensate next time by asking some other customer with a big bill to buy more.... or let them keep the change. I know this is just a silly gag. But honestly, you need to change your IDR50/100K at the mini markets to smaller bills. First thing you must do! Small stalls (and public transport) like these only has small money after around 2-3 hours since they open. Because the owner sums up and banks their income often (for safety, sometimes). But mini markets will always have smaller bills in their register. And if they don't have any, they are obligated to look for one. Just a suggestion to anyone considering going to Indonesia but don't want to experience this. Also, it's always better to know a local there as your informal guide. People won't trick you if you have one. I knew this from my local friend. Haha.
