  • Where did you get your information? Bison had died out in the lower 48 completely. In fact, there was only a small herd up north in Canada. That's when the Salish-Kootenai confederated tribes gave up part of their reservation to establish the National Bison Range near St. Ignatius Montana. *All* Yellowstone Bison, originate from that range. *All* Bison in the US; originate from that range.

    • Thanks for watching. There is a ton of great history available to research about the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) contribution to this effort. Probably worthy of its own video.

    • @@kmstube Indeed they have. For as small of a tribe as they are, they have made a huge impact in First People's politics, culture, and thinking. That's not only with the National Bison Range, but also one of the first Native American established and funded; community colleges in America. But, it is a topic, a video, that needs to be _inspired Native American,_ *not* _Native American inspired._ It's a topic that needs the mindset & insight of some one, of the Salish and Kootenai tribes. _(I am not.)_ Also as far as the National Bison Range is concerned, If I remember correctly, the National Park Service did a short movie on the creation of the Range, back in the late 50s, early 60s. That Mission Mountains area, I grew up around, in the 50s and 60s. While I've only been to Yellowstone Park, a _baker's dozen_ of times, I've been in and around the Ninepipes area; more times than I can count. It was my stomping-grounds as a kid. The historical church at St. Ignatius is beautiful inside. But in the fall; the early snow covered China Wall is breath-takingly stunning to see. _(It's one of my all-time favorites.)_ A community powwow, at its base, is an event, never to forget. _(The Powwow Trail, it's origins and history, is another fantastic American story, with plenty of videos here on KZhead.)_
