Official Description from Serek:
What can I say about the Grand? I could tell you that it’s probably the coolest short-scale bass we’ve built yet… I could mention the magic of the passive on-board Serek “Skuzz Serkit” and TV Jones Thunder’Blade pickup. I love how the website says "affordable short scale basses" and they start at $2500.
lol
Nice review Dave!
I got to play one of these last month when I visited the shop, it was orange with a black stripe. It’s so much fun to play, honestly.
Love the shirt!!!!
Thanks - it's one of my own designs for the channel, you can get one for yourself in our merch shop!
Glad to see you got a pick out at the end. During the fuzz demo I kept thinking how it might be a more useful sound played with a pick to add definition. With fingers the fuzz was too flabby and farty for my tastes.
Read the logo on the thumbnail as SHREK and the bass looks like Shrek
There could be a new Shorties episode that features the Epiphone Allen Woody Rumblekat bass.
will try to get one in the new year!
The Grand is cool but the Lincoln is pretty cool too, and there's a lot of wood and color options, they more than 2 grand now, more like 4 grand. Then if you're looking at 4 grand on a short scale, we have used Alembic s somewhere out there.
To respond to whether or not Serek makes other short scale basses: They build plenty of them! I believe they have at least 3 other models that are available in short scale.
If I could convince Jake to make a run of these in red, I'd grab one immediately. Such a cool bass!
I like almost every color these have come in thus far. Somebody out there has a custom silver sparkle one that is pretty great!
Just send the bass to a Luthier. He can paint it pro, Easy. 😔
They have red as an option
The best thing about this video is the shirt, where can I get it?🤭
it's one I designed for the channel and can be found here: the-bass-channel-store.creator-spring.com/
cool.
For $2,000, I have to go with Dingwall or one L&G 1000 and one FGN
Link to where one could buy the shirt your wearing?
it's one I designed for the channel and can be found here: the-bass-channel-store.creator-spring.com/
I'm confused. My Lizard Queen box gives me the fuzz and hudreds of variations. It cost me $140
Had to chuckle a bit at 5:31, GAS at its finest, while seated in front of 22 or so basses by my estimate. Believe me, totally understand and get it tho.
LOL personally I only have 2 basses right now, the studio wall is mostly Chris’s collection
After my ex girlfriend joined the police department it only made sense to call her the skuzz fuzz.
I would not pay 2 grand for "Scuaa fuzz."
that fuzz circuit is pretty gimmicky, and most people putting down the cash for it are already gonna have dedicated better sounding fuzz pedals
I like the idea of the built in skuzz sound, but the overall tone of that bass is quite woofy. Not a lot of punch or definition. Probably a little too "one shot pony", "hipster indie band" for me to spend $2k+ on.
Is this a click bait video? Has anyone ever heard of this manufacturer? Passive, short scale bass with a guess on the wood infrastructure for a budget friendly price of around $2,000? Where can I get mine?
Not a fan of the T-shirt.
I understand the appeal....but I don't.
It’s an affordable (somewhat) model by a private manufacturer who makes very good basses
@@McDoinky Why is it both sexy and ugly as hell? 😂
@@WilDBeestMF some designs just have that, idk how but its just a thing i guess xD
@@WilDBeestMF All of Serek’s designs are great, except this one I’d spend twice as much to get a custom guitar that sounds and looks way better
@@McDoinky The body shape is interesting and probably more comfortable than we think. It's that choice of pickguard and the shape and you know that just like a damn P bass, you're stuck with having it
never owned a bass.
Its never too late!
but you will
Those will be on talkbass in six months in the classifieds struggling to get $1400. Sounds meh and the shapes are conflicting. Not my thing. Lots of better choices for 2K. IMO
I see one or two up on Reverb after these go on sale, but it seems that people are largely hanging onto them rather than selling them.
And those that do go up for sale tend to sell for the new price or higher
@Roy Donkin doubtful. If German Warwicks can't (and many others), I highly doubt these will hold resale value at equal. Doesn't matter too me either way. My Wals and Dingwalls won't be for sale any time soon. 🤣
@@ampthebassplayer he said there was only like 15 made. There shouldn't be ANY for sale yet. No?
@@scootermcgavin2188 a quick search on Talkbass classifieds show 9 being sold, average listing price of $2050 with most marked as sold in less than 3 days and none with a price drop. Of course there is no way to know what the actual sale price was.
That headstock is ugly
That is an ugly bass.
I think it’s a badass looking unique bass. Def not ugly. And sounds great too.
