One word.....class.
My mom taught me to use everything around the house. To clean the copper pots and pans, she would slice a lemon in half and generously dip it in salt. She used this to scrub the copper and give it a shine. When done, she washed it with warm, soapy water.

I picked up some great tips on organizing my pantry and cookware, so I appreciate your sharing your home with us. My kitchen is small and lacks storage, but I’m still able to cook almost anything in it by being a little creative. It’s all too easy to complain about what we don’t have, but it’s far more important to be grateful for what we do have. Best wishes.

In Turkey people live better and have higher quality of life than in USA. I know of a Turkish family. The grandparents were not educated, worked in Germany. Saved up money, Bought 2 gas stations in Maryland and 2 houses. Their kids got bachelor's degree in USA, end up working as a cashier at the local store and had to sell the gas stations and barely keeping the house. Their kids got higher education in USA, are now living in a trailer park. viva amerika! They cry for Turkey but too poor to go back.

Home cooking smells as a child is one of my memories that has carried me and stayed as I grow older, wherever I was and am today. It's what I've created for my son to remember me when I'm gone. Home cooking carves a place in all families hearts forever. We'll done you and thank you for sharing your kitchen with us. Wish I had some of your cutlery and copper pans.
