As someone from NYC, the subway is the most entertaining yet most terrifying form of transportation here
My dad used to live in NYC, and he said that New Yorkers have seen everything on the subway and so often that they don't care anymore. He had a story about how one winter, he was sitting next to the heater on the subway and the heat caused it to smoke for several minutes and it was not until it caught on fire before he noticed, but nobody not even the people sitting across from him said anything at all.
