Jim Al-Kahlili shows that information isn't just about human communication, it's woven profoundly into the fabric of reality.
Jim Al-Khalili reveals how humanity discovered the rules that drive the universe and mastered the two most important concepts of the modern age - energy and information. As a follow on to the film "Everything and Nothing, the Science of Empty Space," this award-winning science show investigates the laws, from Einstein's General Relativity to quantum mechanics, that link the universe together.

  • The background audio in most of Al-Khalili documentaries is genius, so perfect matches the video, it makes you to immersion to the story so deeply

    • One of the biggest cancer and purifying idea of information is TV broadcasts and radio broadcasts for big manipulation purposes in countries where the dictatorial system maintains terrible power through fear, and causes heated wars with its own behavior. This creates an inflammatory atmosphere like cancer, like for example the Russian state, which happens to be a nuclear weapon state. Since information is like television spreading lies and also the truth to a large number of people as a source of information like serial fire, I would believe that if there are aliens living in space who visit the earth from time to time with UFOs, and only communicate telepathically in a narrow distance area next to their other beings when visiting each other in the ship and on the ground, then their system is built so that the telepathic conversation does not spread, as if via television, to the ears of many creatures of its own kind, technically at all and nowhere, but remains as a local group in small dimensions. If all other communication would possibly be blocked in this way, or even become unnecessary, because human-like technical aids in communication is interpretive and ignites passion and tension and ill-will in many people, because the understanding of different concepts is built through television into a tapestry of time that is almost always shortened to a more rounded entertainment frame as a message without always clarifying meaning with its consequences and correlations between consequences more precisely to the causes leading to the changing true situations of events, and it is always possible to lie or lead people to become angry masses against others in this way through television. So the telepathic beings possibly always limit the communication to each other only and thus the understanding of the message does not get to the ears of the dictators or their way of shaping their own inhabitants like the people of the earth do and give birth to big wars like this. Telepathy can be one significant way of communication in the future, by which the power of dictators/selfish politicians can be shrunk from humanity completely and peaceful development will progress throughout humanity for everyone.

  • Information is useful for the user only, that is why no information is also information. And even the lack of information has a startpoint and a endpoint, that is why every information is quantized, just like energy. I love these videos, they make you lay back and think. Thx

  • Where is the size of the memory of Maxwell's demon specified? Where is the length of time it is required to operate the gate specified, or the number of molecules in the box, or whether the walls of the box are perfectly insulated? The gate and the demon itself require more energy than deletion of information anyway. Maxwell predates the Uncertainty Principle, so he wouldn't know that the act of observing the molecules would affect their speed and direction as in the two-slit experiment, which takes energy and makes the information, well, uncertain. Humans have been communicating at the speed of light ever since signal fires, smoke signals, flags, and even gestures were invented. A friend across the street looks up from his phone and waves at you; speed of light, faster than a text sent at the same instant.

  • I beg to differ, I see no disorder in the universe only order in diverse dimension some of which get invisible from our point of view based on our understanding. you know why, energy is all their is although we tend to give it different names to suit different topic. and that energy comes in with magnetism that form order. information come in when i see two atoms of the same element, they are exert the same but their electron at quantum level aren't on the same point while spinning, at any given time each electron if i was to GPS where it is, they will never match and their position will always be different. that is information that can be read at quantum level, manipulated and even being identified. when cells copy DNA to reproduce it, it copy with accuracy of over 99% yet it cant call out those element by name, those element are identified as information they are....it must be understood that with order only can we have information in everything and everywhere, from quarks, dark energy, inside electron/proton to atoms and large masses like galaxies. its order that can make correlation possible, that usher in analysis and their is where our brain in information understanding comes in. the disorder can be created but as soon as its created another form of order will be created to finally resort to the original state. magnetism in energy will never allow disorder, you know why each space must and will be occupied by diverse particles at the same time, from quarks/dark energy to huge masses of .......
