I always come back to this film, especially in times of sadness. I loved it as a child and continue to love it throughout my life. To everyone else who’s watching, I hope this film brings as much joy to you as it does me

That was sweet!! R.I.P. Shirley Temple. Send my Love to you. Where ever you are in The Universe.
ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITES!!!!! THEY USED TO DRESS SHIRLEY DOWN BABY! I LOVED HER FASHIONS
Shhhhh!!!! It's rude to yell!
Thank you for this wonderful movie that the whole family can enjoy together. Hope for modern movies like this with true values and no swearing.
Beautiful movie…Shirley Temple best film…
"The Little Princess" is definitely Shirley Temple's best film. She is not "cute" here, but dealing with a very dramatic/traumatic situation. Given a movie with a real plot and drama, Shirley Temple proves herself to be more than capable as a real young actress.
It's my favorite, too. I also have a copy of the movie book published the same year as the movie. I love Heidi also.
God, even when females are 9 yrs old people complain about females looks... how pathetic!!
your daughter is the one that is traumatized by all the filth you folks hide, I just get REALLY excited, you wouldn't understand.
Yes, and a great closure to her series of films Those that followed this were not as great, THE BLUE BIRD being a disappointing failure, unfortunately.
❤❤❤❤❤
I wish all Shirley temple movie will be restored like this
This was the first portrayal of Queen Victoria I ever saw. It remains my favorite.
I believe she was the real Queen Victoria as a kid
This movie has so many empathetic and ethical meanings. Never give up on your hopes and dreams, treat others with kindness, give love a chance, and money doesn't; mean everything. Truly a spectacular film.
One of my favs. I was so obsessed with her as a child. Had the Good Ship Lollypop LP and the Shirley doll 🫶🏼💛 I’d give anything to have those back
As far off from the book as this movie is, I do appreciate the details they do include and the acting! Everyone really brought their respective characters to life!
Books do not always translate to film successfully, and need to be altered to work for the medium. Film being a visual medium does not require text, and relies on what is seen and dialogue that enhances the characters and story for its own purpose.
Was thinking about the book, if I remember correctly, Sarah was supposed to be English and not American, no?
@@rainyd4293 Yes, Half english, half french
@@rainyd4293No, Sara comes from India and her mother was french.
@@rainyd4293 Sarah was supposed to be English, yes. Shirley Temple was not expected to attempt a British accent. With the exception of the two older girls, one played by Marsha Mae Jones, she was surrounded by British actors and American actors doing a British dialect. Sybil Jason, the little girl playing Becky being one of them. With this, a British atmosphere was created.
mary nash was so perfect in these wicked roles.. . i can't even say she was underrated as much as forgotten, but she was up there with the top villains of all time.. . if margaret hamilton had been unable to continue filming her role as the witch of the west, i'd have voted for mary nash as her replacement hands down.
Oh I loved this movie growing up
Me too 👸
Same ❤
I love Shirley Temple. It’s a shame she’s gone.
Oh no no 👸
😢😥💔
Yes Yes I know
Eine sehr schöne, wenn auch traurige Geschichte. Zum Glück mit positivem Ende!
ive seen this so many time yet I cry when she realized her in the presence of the queen.
I remember as a little boy in the early 70s reading an article saying that Shirley Temple was now in her early 40s and being totally confused because I just saw her on TV as a little girl! 🤣🤣🤣
How funny! Thanks for sharing!
I had the same experience with Drew Barrymore. I had just watched her in ET as a little girl lol
An excellent movie, nothing less!
thank you for this film
This and Wee Willie Winkie are my favorite Shirley Temple films -- my favorite of her adult films is Adventure in Baltimore
Love this movie a real heart wrencher
Love, love love this movie been watching since I was a child and still gets me teary eyed
Sehr gute Qualität Danke
Gosh, I remember watching a black and white VHS version of this film. I've watched many Shirley Temple films during my childhood.
Wow this brings back memories. I used to love this movie as a kid

Thank you for the great movie. ❤
My favorite movie as a child😊
Nothing compares to a fathers love 💕
Nope...😒almost all fathers are emotionless SCUMS!!! NOTHING COMPARES TO A MOTHER LOVE!!💞
@@galaxygirl1932 You poor thing. I do hope you heal from your mothers hate and anger. Fathers love their children. And your screaming comment speaks volumes as to why when a father is dominated by his wife, the family suffers. When one has a father who’s wife allows him to lead the family. He teaches the child logic and love, to overcome emotions without being unhinged emotionally. Men aren’t supposed to be emotional. I wish you well.
@@larkatmicI agree so much with your first comment but I’m utterly perplexed by your reply. If men “aren’t supposed to be emotional” then how on earth can they love their children? Love is an emotion and a very important one. The idea that men can’t show or express emotions is an incredibly toxic mindset. Men are humans too. Humans have emotions. To deny them the right to express those emotions is wrong and can be psychologically harmful (especially in young boys, but also even olden men). And whoever “leads the family” has nothing to do with how a child is loved, unless there is something much deeper or complicated going on. Families come in all shapes and sizes and so does love. I feel horrible for the other commenter and the fact that they did not have a good relationship with their father, but neither you nor I should try to pretend like we know why.
@@jamiegdubois Good god. Of course most fathers have emotion. They love after all. My point was that men aren’t supposed to identify with emotions the way most females do. Most fathers are made to guide their children through logic, away from being in a constant state of emotion, which is the ego. The ego will take you down the wrong road, convincing you you’re on the right one. We used to know that concept. Many kids are being raised to embrace and stay in emotion, rather than overcome. That creates mental illness. I see it affecting so many young today because they were never taught to overcome what life throws at them. You are not your thoughts. And please don’t be triggered by what I’m about to say. Most men are logical thinkers and are innately loving, but non emotionally triggered. And many women gaslight men to know end, because they hate that about them. You can’t win when a woman wants you to be something you weren’t born to be. When a man does act out emotionally unhinged through (usually anger) towards a child or woman. He is not being a man, but is acting like a woman. This is just my lived experience and my education, being a graduate from the New School for Social Research. Smoke on it. I wish you well.
@@larkatmic don’t worry, I’m not triggered, just sorry that I triggered you. I’m just doing the same as you: sharing my life and academic experience as a PhD graduate in evolutionary psychology and comparative cognition from the University of Cambridge. I wish you no ill will and apologise if I offended you somehow.
It's a beautiful movie to watch. Thank you.

Walter Lang directed "The King and I," "Cheaper by the Dozen," and "State Fair." His final film was "Snow White and the Three Stooges" in 1961. Director Fritz Lang ("Metropolis") was a distant uncle.
Good movie with Shirley Temple.
I saw this back in the 70's when I was a little girl. I wish we could have seen the head mistress eat crow! Of course I love when she finds her father, but the transformation of the attic is my favorite!
Thank you Shirley temple

I love the part when Shirley dumps the coals on that mean Livenia girl
me pelqeu ky Film ishte mjaft emocinal 🐤
I believe, like Shirley Temple's characters that optimism can work miracles if a movie makes me worry about the fate of heroine I won't watch the whole thing. This movie always kept my hopes up and I felt uplifted in the end. I only wish it would have tied up a few loose ends like exonerating the servant girl. And I wonder who changed Sara's night gown while she was sleeping .
It was likely Ram Dass, he is a servant -- although I had not thought of that before. It being sticky at that -- I am unsure if that was mentioned in the book -- I'd look that up.. In the book version, Captain Crew was dead, but the man next door was some partner with Crew in the mines, that turned out not be a failure or taken by the enemy. He adopted Sara and Becky came to work for Sara as her personal maid. There was a version made for a British TV show, maybe BBC or ITV
Hermosa película..gracias.❤
Que talento Shirley Temple
Grazie! Buona serata !🌷❤
Merci beaucoup pour ce magnifique film ❤❤❤
Thanks 🙏👍🌹
Mary Nash was also the villainess in "Heidi" (1937) opposite Temple. Arthur Trencher and Marcia Mae Jones were also in "Heidi".
i believe marcia said in a documentary that she and shirley got along and worked so well together that the temple family requested her for this.. . i wouldn't be surprised if that was also the case with nash and trencher.

Poor Shirley, her career at Fox was winding down. Her next film, Susannah of the Mounties, was her last money maker at that studio. Her next two films, Young People and The Blue Bird, both made in 1940 were financial bombs, which were unheard of for Temple films. Some child actors are able to make the transition from child to more adult roles, sadly Shirley Temple wasn't one of them.
Thank you🍂🍃🖤🌻
Prelijep film; divna poruka da dobrota, ljubav i nada pobjedjuju.
WOAAAOOO.... FANTASTICOS RECUERDOS DE ESTE HERMOSO FILM... LA VI JUNTO A MI HERMANITA Y MI MADRE DE PEQUEÑO EN UN CINE CLUB... SHIRLEY TEMPLE FUE UN PRODIGIO COMO ACTRIZ Y COMO PERSONA.... ALGO QUE POCAS ACTRICES SE PUEDEN JACTAR.... GRACIAS POR SUBIRLA.
