Not all the time, usually for longer shots, but the environment can still drastically alter the trajectory of a bullet, even at closer range. So you wanna make sure you hit that shot

Aiming for the heart first is the most humane method. Also boars skulls are very thick so trying to hit them head on is a dumb idea for a crossbow.
