The lightning rod cleans the oxidation from the copper golem, when lightning strikes it. A axe also cleans it. It has been confirmed by a dev.

I’m currently stuck between the copper golem and allay, but I’m more on the side of the allay mainly because we already have a rng system in Minecraft and because I like copper as just being a building block that oxidizes, to me that gives it a unique feel to it

As if. The golem presses buttons for you and the Allay isn't a flying hopper, hoppers can be used to sort things properly and put them in chests, Allay are braindead essentially and can't place things in chests OR sort things. Just go to a nearby note block and throw the items that you have to give it there

the copper golem even being a concept gives a new look on golems before, it was just strong fighters now, it could be anything wooden golem: farmer stone golem: miner iron golem: fighter golden golem: fighter that does more dmg but has less hp diamond golem: no idea emerald golem: will follow you, villagers will follow it. Also can fight a little. lapis golem: uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh coal golem: can be a light source, but will burn out over time because yknow, coal. netherite golem: mix of stone, iron, wooden, and golden golems.

@@milkuetea eh, it is not crappier, it does it better, and more convenient if you don't know how exactly to read F3 (and you don't have to go to every block for it) copper golem does ??? allay is basically a wide area hopper filter, which can be useful for like 100% efficiency sugarcane farms maybe? you have to put the sugarcane on solid block, not hopper, and it's not guaranteed to land in the hopper, but an allay could pick it up anyways without needing several hoppers i think allay is pretty useful, at least if it has decent health or other mobs don't attack it, but if it can die on its own in any way then not really
@@milkuetea eh. i feel like the F3 screen shouldn't be needed when playing (it's also not available for bedrock without a texture and behaviour pack for some reason). would be better if they just added all the important things from it as actual features. Coordinates should be on maps like in legacy console edition. of the 3 mobs, i think the glare is actually the most useful, since it'll find dark areas for you, which even with F3 can be annoying as you have to look at every block. I personally still want the copper golem the most, but the glare is the most useful one.
I honestly really like how the mobs were designed this time. Each fills a function the game already offers, but expands it in a new way, as well as giving functionality to older features (lush caves, note blocks and copper). It makes each feel like a good potential addition without me feeling bad if any of them lost. Id totally be happy no matter who wins

you said it gives funtionality to older features, while only mentioning 1 old feature, lush caves and copper are brand new, note blocks are the only old thing, and honestly, the glare doesnt fill a function the game offers nor expands on any, its just a light detector, which on pc can be replaced with F3, and on console can be replaced with these things called, eyes, since things only spawn at light level 0 now, unless you are blind its going to be hard to tell when things dont spawn and when they do
@@colossalnate156 by old I simply meant pre-existing. And yes the glare informs on dangerous light levels without having to know them beforehand and either using f3 or eyeballing it. That’s a function the game offers already that the glare fills in a different way. You could say the same for the others in that the allay could be replaced with an item sorter and the copper golem could be replaced with any other pet mob or a redstone randomizer. That’s why no matter who gets in, no truly new function is lost, just a cute pet that could have done it instead
That's exactly the reason why I hate this years mob vote. Last two actually added new concepts and features, that one will add an absolutely useless mob. I thought I'd never say that, but even the glow squid would add more than all three combined. Sure, they might be fun at first, but how much are they really gonna be used? I'm probably gonna end up voting for the copper golem not because it's particular useful, but because it at least adds a somewhat interesting mechanic which is that it can die and also it would introduce copper buttons. Other than that, all three are useless.
glare does nothing useful due to the mob spawning changes. golems that are copper now.. why? so they can press buttons and get struck by lightning? probably real reason is so copper could be a _tiny_ bit less useless item retrieving mobs, ok fine thats almost cool. but its like someone just made a randomizer to give a random look/type, a random function, and a random name. theres no reason to add more complexity in the form of incredibly niche mobs. no reason to add mobs that do almost nothing at all either (ie goats and glowsquids)

Copper Golem could've just been wandering around your world, eventually oxidizing and freezing in place and then being resurrected during a thunderstorm after being struck by lightning. It would've essentially been this awesome immortal being going through its life cycle over and over again.

A flying Lettuce is kinda I mean you know, The Allay is gonna be overpowered or maybe underwhelming either way it'll break an already easy game but we'll get to see some crazy time on the Speedrun side of things, The Copper Golem seems very fun, redstone stuff with RNG button pushing and like come on guys, we haven't had a new golem for literally like 4 years, ravenger not a golem, I will not believe a word of it
i don't think it is really possible to break a sandbox game, unless your definition of breaking is making the game easier, in which case i think is always going to happen, especially in a game like minecraft where you can just copy a build off youtube and make things easier. it only breaks the game when you choose to use it, which is basically 100% of minecraft
Jokes aside, we do know that the copper golems oxidize and that lightning de-oxidizes. Maybe the lightning rod was put on them specifically for that.
The lightning rod deoxidizes the Copper Golem when it is oxidized. It can make the fully oxidized statue into a functioning unoxidized Copper Golem.
It’s better if mojang instead of deleting the other mobs Added them later on

I feel like the copper golem's antenna is going to give some surprise features with lightning or redstone.
Since 2 of the 3 mobs for the mob vote can fly, I have a feeling that’s Minecraft 1.19 is going to be something related with the skies since the flying aspect and the sky of Minecraft has never been touched since the beginning. Just a theory though

My theory is that its gonna be a transportation update - elytra will be updated, and all the other forms will get quite a buff

Copper Golem might need lightning to stay alive for long periods of time as when it oxidises it will become a statue and a lightning causes deoxidation. Does that mean the statues will come alive if struck by lightning? I wonder.
Yes, the lightnings are going to come alive your copper golems, but you can do the same with an axe, like you can eleminate the oxidated copper blocks with an axe

my idea for the copper golem is that it'd be cooler if it was a personal body guard and the reason it guards you is because it appriciates you taking care of it by polishing/waxing it (so yeah it's be a bigger one too, like between the snow golems and iron golems) but they made them be a button spammer so ofcours they don't win
If glare makes sounds or can go through walls it would be really useful for finding air pockets in ur base where mobs can spawn, allay and copper golem is just things that u can alredy make in minecraft but as a entity
@Okapi Lizard ye kinda of, but u can make it with water elevators, but it still is kinda good if u are in the pre game and dont have a iron farm to get a lot of hoppers, but its kinda good tbh, it can collect sapplings and apples from the forest without u needing to run around it so it doesnt really matter that much if glare had the win there, i am happy anyway

it would be cool if a future update would be just all the mods that lost their respected votes.
And a update to the end...could be called the "unforgotten" update, where alot of end related abandoned structures are added, end respawning point, maybe even framing and villagers to the end.

wanted copper golem: 1. its a randomizer that doesnt take up too much space 2. redstone signal would be a button press long by default 3. already got some compact way to collect items and they are nice to look at (i mean camon, even water can carry items)

People say it's just like f3, but that's not true, because to check the lightlevel using f3, you have to directly look at the block, which means that you have to check every single block to see if it's spawn proof, which is really annoying! The Glare would just fly towards areas that are to dark, which makes the whole process significantly easier! ____________________________________ -The Gigachad Allay: Even more useful than the Glare, it collects items that are laying around, and transports them to an assigned note block. I know you could do a similar thing with hoppers, but think about how much more efficient the Allay is: Instead of crafting thousands of hoppers and wasting a huge amount of space, you can just use one Allay and it gets the job done. You could use it for example to collect eggs; you wouldn't even need to build a chicken farm, you could just let it roam around a plains biome with a few chicken scattered around, because it covers quite a large radius as far as we know. Or you could use it to collect Apples while you're chopping wood. The possibilities are truely endless! That's why the Allay is defenitily the best choice! ____________________________________ -The Virgin Copper golem. Just runs around an randomly presses buttons. You can literally just build a repeating Redstone signal, it's one of the most basic Redstone mechanics out there, and it's much more reliable. It's really just useless!
the glare can be replaced with a thing called eyes, since the spawn level is being changed to 0, it will be pretty easy to tell something can spawn, and f3 doesnt go based on the block you look at, it goes based on the block you are on, just stand in the farthest spot from your torch and boom, if its 0, place torch, or, place a torch 14 blocks out, the torch atm covers 360 degrees with light, atm mobs spawn at light level 7(or 6) if you place a torch 14 blocks out, it will never get dark enough for mobs to spawn, the allay can only sort 1 item at a time, and, it doesnt go to a designated note block, just the closest one(or its random) so its useless for sorting, and every time it collects an item you have to give it another from what we know, the copper golem is also useless, the mob vote is useless this time round, copper golem will press copper buttons randomly, while the repeating redstone signal is constant and cant be randomized, the copper golem out of the 3 is the most useful, glare can be replaced by eyes, allay isnt as good as people make it out to be, since its 1 item at a time and has to be given the item again once its done, the golem can be replaced by a huge redstone machine to make a randomizer, or just get 4 copper blocks and a pumpkin(assuming its the standard crafting recipe), copper golem and the allay are the only 2 that even have a shot unless dream rigs it again, copper golem is the best choice for a redstone guy, while the allay is useful more so to normal players, but still pretty bad, glare is 100% useless
