Washington Today (4-18-24): Speaker Johnson says he will not make it harder to remove a Speaker
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) makes it clear he will not support a change making it tougher to bring a motion to vacate the Speaker's chair, after earlier reports that such a change was being considered to be added to the House Rules Committee resolution that would govern House floor debate on bills to aid Ukraine, Israel, Palestinians and Taiwan. Some Republicans have been threatening to force a vote to vacate to remove Speaker Mike Johnson if he goes forward with a bill to help Ukraine with U.S. border security language.
