  • Regards! I love your videos, I think they teach something that is not usually deepened when analyzing cars, which is the behavior of AWD and 4WD systems in different situations. However, I don't quite understand what the correct reaction is in each situation (when only two wheels are in the rollers, I imagine that the system should send all the torque to the other two, which have more grip), so as a suggestion I propose that you explain if the reaction of the system is ideal in each case and if not, what should it have done. Thank you for your attention and keep it up!

    @sergioferrero46@sergioferrero464 жыл бұрын
    • Thanks and regards! It is very hard to make some general explanation. Reactions should be different, depends on conditions. I rather prefer answering the questions concerning some particular test than making some general marking.

  • I expected the Torsen to outperform the Haldex. Good to know it's not quite so cut and dry. I think the Torsen would still be the preferred system in high horsepower cars, but at least for getting out of a slippery parking spot, it looks like a wash.

    • There are some high horsepower cars using haldex, even the super cars.

      @4x4.tests.on.rollers@4x4.tests.on.rollers Жыл бұрын
    • @@4x4.tests.on.rollers It looks like you are indeed correct. I didn't know the super VWs were using the Haldex system, but I'd counter by saying those (Lambo and Bugatti) are mid engine, so the Haldex system doesn't have to work as hard since it's responsible for sending power to the front wheels. However, in a tuned up RS3 or TT RS, the Haldex system has to hold a lot of power, which, I believe, makes fairly quick work of the bearing that are responsible for applying the clamping force to the clutches (working piston roller bearings?). So I'll amend my statement: I think the Torsen would still be the preferred system in high horsepower *front engine* cars.

      @WASTED__POTENTIAL@WASTED__POTENTIAL Жыл бұрын
    • @@WASTED__POTENTIAL I was wondering the same, I mean - in super cars haldex is powering front wheels but those cars have huge power. Unlike in front engine cars, haldex has cooling there so it is probably working a lot. It also may have more plates. Which elements fail first - I don't know. Recently the most powerful VAG front engine cars use Performax instead of haldex.
