Everything Wrong With Scream 2 In 19 Minutes Or Less

It's October, which means we sin more horror films than usual, and for giggles we went back to Scream 2. And it's basically a museum-worthy example of how to sin your way through a sequel.
Next Week: sins of a sucky 2017 "action" film, & sins of a classic horror sequel.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

    • @@boyspicegamingIf i falsely accused you of murder and swore by it I would just hope you were kind enough not to press charges for defamation, emotional distress Not to mention criminal charges for perjury Let's not pretend she was 9 years old. She was almost an adult and swore she saw somebody She clearly did not. Then he is treated like an a****** when she never even set the record straight We know this because the first meeting they had was when Gale misled cotton He has no opportunity to speak with her. Just because the movie uses an ominous score and makes it a jump scare does not make him a creep for going up to her in a library Again maybe I'm just old fashioned but when somebody's careless testimony almost gets me gassed I would hope they would be kind enough to set the record straight Also how is it suspicious at the end? The lady had a knife to her neck he had to find some way to get her guard down If he really cared he would have tried holding her to it instead of walking away at the end.

He's still an asshole. He even basically cheats on his wife in the first 6 minutes of the movie. He learned nothing and had no growth lol he was selfish and that's why he died but ggs love all the scream characters even the assholes

    • @@boyspicegamingI'm sure you live a perfect life. The guy was entertaining some flirting and then risked his life when his girlfriend was being attacked. I bet you wouldn't even do that. You'd probably call the cops and wait Secondly Maureen is the known homewrecker. It doesn't make cotton perfect but actually like he is more righteous then somebody who committed perjury and didn't give a s*** then you have your priorities out of the wack Also that's the problem She never did apologize. She told him she said she was sorry a thousand times but then they immediately established it was their first time meeting when Gale ambushed BOTH of them Even at the end she only sent the media his way because she didn't feel like dealing with them lol. I'm just fair. You can dislike cotton but acting like a full grown adult not holding herself accountable for almost ending an innocent man's life is normal is kind of disturbing.

I never got how they painted her as they made antagonist in the first movie when she's the only person saving a guy's life Even if it was selfishness Sidney needs to be accountable for refusing to hear the truth attacking people committing perjury and then because she was attacked in a separate issue it's all good

On another matter, 4:00 - 4:21 - I agree that sequels are not always inferior to the original, sometimes they're better. Examples include, as was just said in scene, Aliens and T2 (Terminator 2), and also Die Hard 2, Spiderman 2, and several Harry Potter movies after the first one, they were all better than the first. Then there are those where the sequels were as good as the first, but definitely not inferior, which included The Godfather 2, Lethal Weapon 2, and Wayne's World 2

  • Actually, the sober sister thing was accurate. In sororities, you will always have a sober sister / sober monitor in case a sister is too intoxicated at an event and needs to be taken home safely. Oftentimes these sober sisters are at the event, but other times they are home to hep the girls. It helps with liability and making sure everyone is safe. However, in my experience it is often more than one sister who is sober for an evening.

  • I like Scream 2 but it could have been so much better. Thanks to the early ages of the internet, the original scream 2 script got leaked and they had to do rewrites. That’s why some of this doesn’t pan out or make sense. The killers in the original script were Billy’s mom who was the ringleader and working with Hallie and Derek who were a couple behind Sidney’s back. Randy was Gale’s camera man and he and Sidney have a whole day together and it gets kinda romantic before he is murdered. When Cici is killed, she is strung up like Casey was in the original and the whole copycat name thing leads them to searching for girls named Tatum on campus. They then realize that the killer is after the “new” Tatum, which is Hallie as Sid’s new best friend. This is what Gale and Dewey team up to do for most of the movie until Randy dies and they see Hallie wall into the theater. Mickey is just a friend that gets murdered and found by Dewey in the sound room(hence the pizza he steps in that’s never explained) and Dewey dies after the attack on the sound studio as Gale watches. After the killers are revealed, I can’t recall how Hallie and Derek die, I think Debbie kills one of them, but Cotton shows up and saves Sidney and Gale. Gale goes to hug him and he stabs her and she falls off stage. He’s still mad about what Sidney did to him and how she’s the star. They have an epic find and stab each other until they are both left dying and then the film ends. Anyway, the script got leaked and changes were made. I preferred the leaked script bc it tied these loose ends together more and acknowledged relationships from the first movie but I still love the franchise. That’s why is Scream 3, they reference having multiple scripts bc of spoilers and stuff, referring to what happened in scream 2. The original scream 2 script can be found online I believe. Someone may have already mentioned this, but I didn’t get a chance to check all the comments.

    • I actually read up on this, and yes 30 pages were leaked, but according to Wes and the writer, they came up with three different endings so no one would know the real ending. The ending you are talking about is the fake ending. The killers were always going to be Billy’s mother and Mickey.

I find it kinda unlikely. Also I'm super pissed he died in it, even after all these years. Couple of things I noticed is the product placement. • The movie turns 25 today! Still one of my favorite sequels ever A far superior movie than its predecessor from having a stellar soundtrack, greater kills, way more meta humor touching upon sequels and their various tropes and flaws, a bigger cast, too The score by Marco Beltrami still dominates enhancing the scary moments but also making the drama more engaging The laughs are just as plentiful to liven things up with sharp dialogue thanks to Williamson still understanding teenagers These characters are living a real-life sequel and the Ghostface killer is stepping up his game; he is no one and everyone at the same time usually one step ahead of his victims But it was always Craven’s intention to hand the reins to the potential survivors at the end After all we want Sidney, Gale, and Dewey to make it out full understanding the killer’s motivation It engages with the movie that came before, escalating the stakes and diving deeper into the themes ‘Scream 2’ doubles down on everything that helped ‘Scream 1’ become a classic In contrast to the original movie this leans more heavily into the franchise’s exploration of horror movie tropes, to the point that these discussions become quite literally academic to where everything is mediated Discussions about the lack of blackness in cinema, serial killers typically not being female, and motivations not being nearly as good ol’ fashioned revenge Plus it dives into the celebrity culture using violence as another commodity to be sold and to get fifteen minutes of fame As I said before this is still one of my favorite sequels ever as I had grown up with the franchise from a young age and loved the late Wes Craven’s approach to the horror genre Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott is what anchors these movies allowing a final girl like her to come out victorious and tackle her trauma, her life is a tragedy much like a part in the film where she’s cast as Cassandra on stage Sometimes doubling down on the reflexive ness and self-awareness helps without losing sight of the story’s humanity and ‘Scream 2’ rejects the post-modern trappings with great effect A very worthy follow-up that still entertains mocking the genre but also adding to the terror

  • 14:35 A missed sin in the ending of this scene (not shown in this video). The cop dies with gun in hand, and we can clearly see the gun. Killer is unconscious, Sidney actually got out of the car, past the killer, and DID NOT PICK UP THAT GUN!!! She shoulda just shot the killer while he was chilling there. Edit: Before someone points it out, at 14:48 the gun is clearly missing, and so is the killer, so the killer probably took that gun. But the gun was 100% still in the cops hand when he died.
