  • I think this is the moment Athelstan realized how much Ragnar cared for him. Some part of him knew but I don’t think he knew how much. I think he assumed Ragnar would be upset with him for reverting back to Christianity, so when he offered to leave and Ragnar got upset it took him by surprise. I think a part of him figured Ragnar might even banish him. Athelstan didn’t expect that outburst of love.

    • Yeah except it ended up being the other way around. In the show we see that the Viking religion is true and Ragnar goes to Valhalla and I doubt Athelstan made it to Valhalla.

When athelstan says 'it does not matter where i go' ragnar goes a lil sad in the face, looking down because hes thinking that smthing like 'because you will be always on my heart/ i will always remember you/ we will meet again, etc' but when Athelstan says what he says u can see again hope and happyness in ragnars face and hugs him again...   • All I'm going to say is the best written bromances are the ones that can easily be interpreted as either platonic or romantic and still make complete sense because when you have a bond that deep the line between romance and friendship doesn't matter. They are soulmates no matter what the relationship looks like 💕
