In this video, we are forging a spearhead out of a leaf spring. We are forging the spear in our simple two brick forge which has now been modified slightly. First we flatten the end of the leaf spring and roll it over into a cone shape to form the socket of the spear. Then we cut the leaf spring to the desired length and forge the spear head while holding the socket with out simple rebar tongs. We hope you enjoy the video. Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to see more! Thank you.

awesome spear
the neck of that spear is very slim but all in all very nice little spear lol
For the size of the point…got to agree. Held up well though and was sure fun to make. Thanks for watching!
When that anvil falls over on your foot maybe you'll learn a lesson and secure it properly
You took the words right out of my mouth.
After he mounts it then he can fix the face. He sure likes working the steel cool.
Can you guys make a video about your forge? Because the design looks quiet simple and inexpensive. Id love to forge something myself. edit: Nevermind just found the video in your video description. Anyways great videos.
Compared to your orginal anvil this is a hell of an improvement and the results speak for themselves, but FFS please secure the anvil and stand so that you're not losing half of your energy on every stroke moving the anvil instead of the steel.
Please do this if for nothing else than to help with the ringing.
Super brother tool . From Thailand
That is a awesome spear!
I'm Bored Thank you! Appreciate it.
that came out really good
Justin Ryan Thank you!

A large piece of round steel in my collection of rusty junk destined for forging experiments is gong to be turned into a hardy mandrel, for making spear sockets. We did what you did here, smacking the round mandrel in from the side, and it is inefficient. Cool video, but I do worry about that wobbly anvil. If it falls on you, it will change your life
Hi friend, good job but you should secure that anvil for both quality and safety. I’ve got mine on an old log- it doesn’t take a whole lot. It’ll make things much easier
nice
i love the sound of that anvil where did you get it
How many hours did it take you to make the spear head?
👍👍👍👍
the neighbor who throws spears at the front yard trees, like that!
nice but fair warning i made one once and the neck where the blade joins the tang was too thin and snapped. yours may not be thin but it looks it to me in the video
Secure your anvil. It's movement is robbing the energy from your hammer strikes. It will also reduce the ringing. So will magnets or a chain.
Got that covered! Older video. You’ll notice a huge difference in the more recent stuff. Magnets did trick for the sound. Less ear splitting ring, more thud. Eliminated the rocking as well. Thanks for watching!
Blade looks weak at the socket
Which oil did you used for quench?
That’s canola oil. Thanks for asking and watching!
@@BurningOakForge Oh really?! I thought it was an engine oil.
he is Forging steel... hence the sweet sound on hammer strikes.
What wood should i use for a spear? do you guys know?
Oak.
Use leaf spring of any car for India like fiat, ambassador ,b cos they r light in weight
Yeah michel you ask what "wood" should you use to make your "spear" so thats ,one guy from india did answer your question , use leaf spring hhhhhhh
Any kind of hardwood will work. Just choos one that you think looks nice.
Nice job. Sweet build. Hopefully soon I’ll start making stuff like that on my channel CC-HUNTERS
Maybe anchoring the anvil would help you work less? nice anvil and forge!
A spear is a melee weapon. Made for hand to hand combat, and people always confuse it with a javelin, which is meant to be thrown.
Impressive but i believe you should have done a better finishing
Another nerd .. Have I also been one? Probaply! :D :D "This spearhead will kill!!" Laminating? Neah - think not done, and not needed .. archologist can tell ..
Oh my God. He really don't know what he is doing 😳
eh?
Doesn't matter, everyone starts somewhere and this is the learning process and it's a beautiful thing
Not knowing but trying anyways is the first step in knowing, learning and improving later is amazing. A bad spear is a better start than no spear yk?
Had to mute that loud, wobbly ass anvil.....
Nothing like the distorted sound of a unsecured rusty anvil being struck. Look as the anvil walks as he hits it and every heavy hammer blow is moving the hot steel at an alarming rate. Poor tree, what did it do to you that needed a spear stuck in it.
Bro this is not good but I'm ok 👌this u don't know a black smithing
