  • Really cool to see the last three Mapogos happy together. Once a time four strange lions found Pretty boy alone, they fought so much, when P. boy could fight no more Makulo and Mr. T arrived and saved him. Only two against four lions T and Makulo won the fight and saved their brother. Eternal Mapogos...

    • Those weren’t the last 3. One of the lions was definitely Dreadlocks and he didn’t survive to the end. Also, as far as I could tell, none of the 3 in the video was Makhulu, who DID survive to the end. I’m pretty sure the first lion that roared was Mr. T. The second lion that roared was Dreadlocks and then the other lion that was there was Pretty Boy. Coincidentally, he was one of the last remaining two. He and Makhulu roamed around together after Mr. T was killed. Pretty Boy eventually died of tuberculosis. I believe he was maybe 12-13 years old. Makhulu lived to be 15 and simply died peacefully of old age.

      @chrisjon6480@chrisjon6480 Жыл бұрын
    • True. But it’s normal for large coalitions to establish separate prides but within the same overall territory. That way everyone gets to mate/sire cubs and they also split patrolling duties over the area. That doesn’t mean they’re no longer in the same coalition… but, yes, this strategy usually leaves them vulberable to attacks by larger coalitions they happen to encounter.

      @gunghocg@gunghocg2 ай бұрын
    • Maybe it would have been better if they controlled a smaller territory so they didnt have to split. But female prides don’t usually mix peacefully and dont share hunting grounds. And larger territory means more food for the coalition & their prides.

The guide was somewhat aware of them at the time, but it was so early on that they didn’t even have names yet. I kind of liken it to just wandering into Yankee Stadium in 1927 without knowing anything about baseball and seeing Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig play.

    • ALex Johnson -- No matter what the documentary tried to slant, what Mr T did was natural lion instinct. He had not been in the western sector of sani sands for multiple years. His natural urge was to be dominant in the area and to have mating rights with the lionesses and to procreate/make his own children. The only way to physically bring that on in the lionesses was for them not to have cubs to raise. Only then will they become receptive towards mating with him.

When T. reached his prime he would have tried Mak and won out I think, and size doesn't matter here, besides there wasn't 30 lbs difference in all of them. People say Mak was big, he was but Rasta was bigger, but they were all big 400-440 lbs...the difference in winning a fight is heart and you know T had a fighters way to him...can't measure heart by weight of the animal. Mak wasn't a fighter 1st he was a somewhat docile lion in my opinion, he could fight don't get me wrong they all could, but T was fighter 1st, he lived for the fight.....straight up warrior cat

And I really don't like when people refer to him as "Satan" , all lions kill that's what they do there's no evil whatsoever. • Mak took Mr.T when T was still a partial Gold Mane, over dominance rights, and females, thats why T headed east with KT. He was away 2 years and became a black mane lion(the strongest a lion will ever be), just like Mak, you see Mak was about 2.5 years older than T. When T came back after KT died, he and Mak squared off again black mane vs black mane and T whooped his ass, took over as the dominant lion, and started killing the other 4's cubs. Make no mistake T didn't want peace, he was a straight up battlecat...a warcat and the others just didn't want to fight him over it....Kinky Tail was the only one that would consider it when T was fully matured and even he was unlikely to try. T was the dominant cat when with KT.
