Kimono My House still love it But before that "Moon Over Kentucky" great song
Beaver O'Lindy was the first track I heard by them. Loved it. Still do.
Morrissey obviously thought so too, because he once performed it live. :-)
Interesting musicians what a concept! Thank you.
*** i love them so much ***
What an entertaining interview. Had a lot of fun, watching it. Thanks from Berlin. 😉😘
Enjoyed the interview with sparks, love the group ♥️
Seen Sparks in Bristol couple weeks ago awesome!!
SUCH A GREAT band !!!! I saw them in Paris at "Le PALACE" in1984 ... That was wonderful ! ... and now since "BALLS" all the new albums are absolutely magnificent : " creatures of the deep" " 'il Beethoven" "Hello young lovers" "Ingmar Bergman" ... and now "Hyppopotamus" !!!!!
Incredible! I’m so happy I scored tickets to the NYC show October 10th. Truly a memorable experience!
Flying home to Manchester from LA in 2008... these guys were on the same plane as us ... sat in cattle class too LOL !
I was there at Le Poisson Rouge, Bleeker Street, NY 10/10/17 1st night. Ended their set with Amateur Hour. Great show (obviously : ).
Loved Sparks as a Kid . This House ain't big enough is still played by me as/When , great energy to that track....Nice interview.
*Town. 👍🏼😆
@@Eleventhearlofmars correct mate , had a couple of beers that day 😊 , still love the track though....
I like the Sparks. Not a popular band for a kid for Detroit to admire. Saw them with Patti Smith in 1979. They are quirky to say the least. Amateur Hour is a terrific tune.
Saw them in akron unfortunately the sound system was awful
love the old stuff but really love the new stuff!
Very entertaining. Love Sparks.
This is the best SPARKS interview. YES
Best interview ever, love the barfs 😀
Très bonnes musiques. J'adore leur nouvel Album Hippopotamus.
What wonderful chaps.
Ron smiled !
Ron does smile a bit more these days.
He is handsome when he smiles💥
He has a lovely smile. Wonderful gentlemen, love listening to them.
Ron is so cute in this interview. I love to see him laughing :-D Obviously they're both tired because of the jetlag, but that also makes it funny. XD
Sparks were great!
sparks baby!
Loved Jonesy's Jukebox when I was in LA!
Love Sparks. Jonesy seems a mess for this interview. Not really done his homework.
It's Jonesy's own ramshackle style. Entertaining and fun like a real human being and good bloke.
I think he did quite well. Mentioned a lot of relevant references, knew what the new songs were about and came up with a couple of subtle quips like the one about the "giraffe" etc.....
Jones ain't never done his homework so par for the course!
Love sparks since a kid!
Brilliant combination of people in one room.
Brilliant!
ron is cute
Jonesy that big damned stinking Bear. SPARKS @ the pacific amphitheater in Costa Mesa, CA 1983 was an amazingly surreal spectacle of musicianship & showmanship galore!!
Love Sparks and i think Jonsie's gorgeous voice, sounds as smooth as melted chocolate! xxxx
I bought that Kimono My House fan Russell mentions from the Shepherd's bush gig
"Amazing Journey..Sparks"...The look on Russell's face LOL!
I love this interview. Also: Jonesy’s Jukebox is the Joe Franklin Show for my generation.
If this man can work in radio then so can I
True. Only difference between him and you is respect.
Graham Rogers so what do you do for a living big boy?
Not necessarily.
Yes, you are also a legend. Your credentials are as impressive as being in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, having a multi platinum record, a #2 single, and having inspired thousands of people to play guitar and start bands.
wrong
Great stuff
These guys are from that 70s heyday when albums were bizarre excursions
Cannot believe that so many never heard of the legend Steve Jones ,,every guest knows who Jones is
What nice guys 😊
I would like Jonsey to look into the camera and say, "reasons to be cheerful...one, two, three" Great surreal interview!
I’m sitting at home thrilled to watch the interview and all I’m thinking is “This guy has a radio show? “ Get it together man....wow.
Steve can be clueless and a bit uncouth at times.I find him to be hilarious in these instances.Nothing phoney about him.He rubbed off on Russ, hence his on air burp.
His interviews are so funny.
Jonesy ain't the best interviewer in the world think he's better when there's more people to bounce off just how I feel God bless x
@@cherrybomb996 You are used to false American radio hosts 'gushing' and behaving in their standard sycophantic ways. Jonesey knows more about Sparks than you ever will and they know it. Jonsey is a working class Londoner who has never forgot his roots, he doesn't get phased by 'stars.'
@bofursgun Jonesy is one of a kind honestly crude but gets such great guests.
Steve about hippopotamus ....they are big dudes....in erm cartoons right? Burping in the middle of his interview. Hasn't a clue what the album or singles titles are. The Maels do have very good manners I must say....and heaps of talent of course.
It's almost amusing how unfazed Sparks are by this guy. Clearly they've experienced even worse interviews in the past 40+ years...
Jonesy has never set out to formally interview any of his guests -- that's what makes his show so refreshing. Guests come on to hang out and shoot the breeze with him I enjoyed the banter and so did they -- and I think that's the point of Jonesy's Jukebox.
@@williamr3840 mate so many people just want a boring interview d don't grasp Steve. Look at the guest list he's had on & people return again. He's brilliant and who cares if he burps.! LOL
Steve is authentic by today’s’ standards. In england we’re still stuck with a boring Steve and bee gees fan called Steve Wright in The Afternoon.
@@newforestpixie5297 Listen to BBC 6 Music. They play Sparks, and Marc Riley, Gideon Coe & Lauren Laverne ,most likely, play way better music.
The three of them recording some songs would be neat 👍
Jonesy’s Jookers are really on top. I suppose it’s his eventual, ultra-relaxed attitude/approach and general reverence that keeps the wheels rolling. I enjoy listening to guests whose music I wasn’t even fond of for behind the scenes curiosity
WOW, for once I can actually hear the audio!!
Ron is a s cool as it gets.
Unfortunately this interview is like watching Chris Farley out of his depth in the question department. Russel& Ron are gentlemen & pioneers.
'It means i like you!'
sparks rules.
You owe to yourselves to check out their music
Wouldn't be top quality Jonesy without a surprise belch! The swindle continues!
Cool Places... MTV with the gal from that all girl band... Jane Weidlen, the Go-Go's rhythm guitarist.
The answer to the question: Tony Visconti
Jonesy seems even more sedated in this one than normal.haha
Don't think he's too keen on Russell.
Memo to self “buy black hair dye futures”
This was cool love Jones better than Howard Stern anyday..And Sparks loved since a teen still do follow their music all my life was nuts over Sparks when a teen...
We lived in London in the 70 s you came to see us you stole some gear of us - Yeah that means I like ya 😂😂
Good to see Russell warning against bitcoin all those years ago.
@ 10:30 im like, WTF? genius. hes interviewing them after robbin em 40 yrs ago, wow.
Pablo Escobar’s ever multiplying hippos causing trouble seem worthy of a song or two.
Jones: Hippa PawIMUS🦛
Another war something to look forward to .... hysterical
Russell, born in 1948 -- and looking younger than me -- born in 1973.
The regular cosmetic treatments help
@William R I don't know if that's true ;-) but he looks definitely much younger than Steve Jones! Although Steve Jones is 7 years younger than him.
@@stevobath Well ok, perhaps there was a little use of make-up, as this interview was also filmed. But look at Steve Jones. He's younger than Russell and looks much older than him. Why's that? Make-up cannot be the only explanation for a younger look. Russell has got a damn good DNA! :-D
@@girlfromgermany er, botox, cosmetic surgery and copious hair dying.
@@youjoker9647 First I thought about that, too. But on KZhead there are so many videos that proof the opposite. And here you can see the direct comparison of someone using Botox and Russell: kzhead.info/sun/l5eifrOthYhjdIE/bejne.html Here's another proof: kzhead.info/sun/dK2BpLmvZIKwZ5E/bejne.html ,at 01:13 you really see him very close. If you google Russell Mael you will find many, many Fotos that also show, there's no Botox or cosmetic surgery. He dyes his hair, yes, but that's all.
'When do I get to feel like Sid Vicious felt?' Should've asked Jonesy that....
I was in the same class as the controversial guy who started Bitcoin back in the mists of 1986 at Padua College in Brisbane. His name is Craig Wright.
He looks like the Villain or wise old teacher in every old Chinese Karate movie
All’s I keep in mind when I’m around the hippopotamus is don’t get between the hippopotamus and the shoreline.
Why on earth were Sparks on KLOS when they never have played their music??? KROQ was the station that played Sparks. And how did this guy ever become a host and interviewer?? Anyways great to hear them and I think this is the most Ron has ever spoke.
Love the fact Steve just talks about shit for most of this. Asking Sparks about bitcoins lol
Does anyone know the Japanese band they're talking about? Trying to Google it but not sure how it's spelled...

@@MarySvevo Amazing! thank you!!
: Russ & Ron carried the interview really well ...🦛
