Mongolian Bakhar is a livestock guardian dog in steppe of Mongolia this dog defeat a wolf attack on his flock of sheep. The dog notice the wolf from distance. Whn wolf approach the dog speed up and stay in front of wolf as a shield of sheep .

and back off
The dog chasing the wolf in safe distance
To make sure that he was seriously and will not allow him to attack sheep.

I had a dog mix that looked like this dog. He was Siberian husky, chow, golden retriever. I've never seen teeth that long and sharp on any dog. He liked herding. He put my chickens in for me every night. He was a big boy but not that big! He also was a four eyed dog! May my boy RIP.

It makes perfect sense that it is a big dog but not huge dog because size is helpful but fitness is more important because a really big dog will get tired very easy and not keep on chasing the top preditors and then there is a chance that the predators can kill the livestock. A lot of people in Central Asia use this breed as a guard dog. These are formidable beasts. I'd be jogging in the village near Almaty, Kazakhstan and they'd stick their heads partially under the metal gates and bark. They have a deep, scary bark and it would startle me every time.

Hopefully, that didn't happen. I think this video was captured from a fixed camera with no human presence. The poor herders have very few dogs.

40 лет назад видел их в Монголии, на каждой стоянке от 5 собак. Но на нас собаки не злились, несколько раз приходилось перешагивать через них, держа руки там, где . Монголы шутили, хвалили питомцев.Чойр, Гоби. Мы солдаты СА, буриад, как родные там. Перешагивать пришлось при входе в юрту, а пёс не отходил, хозяева не отгоняют, относятся к волкодавам с уважением.

These dogs usually born in outside on the snow and live outside for whole their live just like wild animals. Winter in Mongolia is sooo cold but these, dogs sleep outside putting their nose into warm part of the body and sleep. I ve seen these things, crazy.

Great dogs. Reminds me of our Bakarwal dogs from himalayas. The nomadic guitar tribes have bred them since centuries for herding their flocks. Those dogs look alot like tobetan mastiff but more athletic and Hardy. Super brave and loyal. Fend of leopards and bears all the time

Another great video. According to him, it is clear that there are no one-on-one fights in the wild. The task of a shepherd dog is protection, not killing. And the wolf comes to eat, not to fight. If the shepherds have several working dogs, then the wolves leave hungry. Occasionally, a pack of dogs can catch and strangle an unlucky wolf, but not one on one (Exceptions are possible, but not common). The same thing about wolves, wolves can kill a lone dog with a numerical superiority, one on one wolf kills only dogs not intended for livestock protection, from a dog of equal strength, the wolf runs away.

Terrence, I heard that some Bankhar dogs fight to the death. More like a dogo Argentino or an APBT. They are also big dogs. Not as big as a Tibetan Mastiff but easily over 100 lbs.

Thank you for this, great information! In Sweden wolves are shot even tho the hears are behind electric fences. I've always said that dogs is the answer, hunters, herders and farmers disagree.. Beautiful dogs!

In Deutschland werden auch Herdenschutzhunde gefressen. Das Problem ist, du brauchst mehr Hunde , als Wölfe in einem Rudel sind, für den Schutz nur einer Herde. Also ca. 8! große Herdenschutzhunde pro Herde. Sonst funktioniert es nicht. Wer kann sich das leisten? Gute Hunde sind teuer, Hunde fressen viel. Was machst du mit den Hunden, wenn sie alt sind? Was machst du mit den Welpen, die nicht zum Schutz der Herde geeignet sind? Du mußt viele Welpen züchten, um nur einen einzigen geeigneten!, mutigen! zu bekommen. Mit Kangals die in Europa auf der Straße laufen, kannst du keine Herden bewachen. Echte Herdenschutzhunde verbellen auch Menschen! Wenn die nicht weggehen, werden sie möglicherweise angegriffen und getötet. Europa ist teilweise dicht besiedelt. Dort ist es riskant, echte Herdenschutzhunde zu verwenden. Hast du 3 Herden, brauchst du 24 riesige Hunde. 1bis 2 Hunde, da lachen die deutschen Wölfe drüber.

Bankhars protect livestock and KIDS. Parents are busy with daily tasks of herders. And dogs stay with kids all the time. Our family had a big bankhar when I was kid. And he followed us everywhere we go, playing with us making sure we were safe. If a stranger come, he would instantly switch to protecting mode roaring barking and all. And if the stranger is safe, kids tell him to stop and he would stop making a scene but he don't break eye from them until it's official that the stranger wouldn't harm us in any way. If the stranger makes any suspicious move he was ready to rip him off. We felt so safe when he was around. Imiss him 😢

When I saw the Mongolian mountain dog I thought he was very close relation with Tibetan Mastiff. Thank you for confirming that. Many Top Five/Top Ten dog posts here have Tibetan Mastiff close to the top and there is reason for that, looking at his mouthful of big teeth and the aggression, much like the Caucasian Ovcharka.

Mongolian bankhar is revived by an American biologist Bruce elfstrom , he started breeding program from the few pure bred specimens of mongol bankhar in early 2000. Thanks to the American biologist 🙏
This breed existed a thousand years without American help.....lol I imagine it would continue to exist as long as people use sheep.

@@tonybologna120 @V S is correct. The Bankhar dog breed was once down to a very dangerous #. To begin with, there were not many Bankhar dogs. We have to know that the Mongol population is less than 3 million and most of them are living in or near the capital, Ulan Bator. Not many people roam the land and if there are, they are few and far in between. A few manmade and natural disasters almost wipe out the Bankhar dogs. Also, the infiltration of other dogs into Mongolia diluted the already small pure Bankhar population.

Very beautiful dog, so light and agile and so brave. I was so impressed! Thanks for your videos! Can you give an example of which dog breed would suit us northerners in Scandinavia? We have a lot top breeds, but mostly for hunting and not so much for livestock when it comes to wolves, which we have a lot of problems with in recent years.Unfortunately, that knowledge has disappeared over the last hundred years. So the farmers lose both their sheep and cows, because of wolves. Even dogs during hunting.

Owtschartka, Kaukasien Shepperd (Langstockhaar) - du mußt dir aber den mutigsten, reaktivsten auswählen, der auch mit Wölfen kämpft . Nicht alle Welpen sind geeignet.. Handelt selber, eigenständig wie ein Spitz. In der Mongolei ist es auch kalt. Dieser mogolische Hund würde auch funktionieren. Pyrynäenberghunde und die großen Hunde aus den Karpaten oder aus Bulgarien Gebirge, wo Wölfe und Bären leben. Ehemalig Rumänien, Zarplanic Du mußt in die Länder zu den Hirten fahren, um einen Arbeitshund zu kaufen.
