Cmiic but I think season 2 also has a few more scenes of Penelope and some of her storyline which sets up season 3. It's what I plan to do as well since 1.) I like the main couple of s2 more and 2.) so I get to know Penelope and Colin more before season 3 gets released

it symbolizes how he can’t see what’s right in front of him even though his subconscious knows. in s3 the swans get bigger and bigger and he can’t deny it anymore. they literally put huge swans in scenes based on the filming leaks.

3:00 this one might hurt the most because she just got friendzoned in two types of way "your not a women you are Pen" "you are my friend" lol noice
For me it would be 4:56, because she literally heard the guy she's crushing on tell everyone around him that he would never dream of courting her, basically taking her feelings and smashing them with a hammer, and it's worse when it literally happens after she had just got into an argument with her Best Friend basically telling her she never wanted to see or speak to her again. The way she ran off crying made me actually shed a tear because despite her being Lady Whistledown, she really didn't deserve that much heartbreak in one night alone.

Ugh I can’t wait for their season, especially because Penelope’s story is so relatable. She’s beautiful, she’s smart, she’s kind, but she is so used to getting kicked down (by her own family especially) that she has started doing it herself, too. The woman is a gem, and I just know for a fact that so many viewers (myself included!) ride on that exact same train. Don’t believe your bullies, people. And please _do_ enact vengeance by being your beautiful true selves ✨
Yeeees my sister just got me into Bridgerton and now I can't wait for s3! Penelope is totally my favorite and she deserves so much. She has this baby crush on him and maybe he was nice to her as a child, but the way he talks about her is so disrespectful and self-absorbed and actually mean. I wouldn't even want to be his friend.

I kinda hate Colin and I think that may ruin the season for me
He’s done the bare minimum of I guess writing letters to her and being sort of nice but bro has done nothing but make bad decisions throughout both seasons 🤡 he needed Penelope to talk him out of them all like he literally can not function it’s pathetic… but I mean I haven’t read the books so what do I know 🤷♀️ maybe the show was a bad representation so far

I was sad so I got drunk with Sir Yuck, the American I told you about ..." And yeah I agree he cannot function. Total baby energy and not in a good way. I don't think the books are the same as the show (I haven't read them) but show Colin is what he is and I hate him. He has to grovel on his knees so hard to win back a minimum of respect from me!

I definitely agree that he f’s it up at the end of season 2. I was game for a friend to lovers thing, but saying *that*…. I mean it’s one thing to say someone’s your friend and you aren’t romantically interested in them, but saying it that way makes her seem like an awful option to any of the other bachelors of Bridgerton..
That’s what Colin had and has to work on though you can’t have a romantic arc and not be changed at all for it. In most media the romance at the end is the reward for growing as a human being. They both have things to work on just like in pride and prejudice neither party was perfect as they were both (hence the name) blinded by pride and prejudice toward one another. If you have romance and no character growth the whole story is gonna feel empty and soulless
Reminds me of the time when a similar thing happened to me...except my crush wished I get hit with a cricket ball because I was hanging around to watch him play & he didn't like me "coming in the way of the game". His friend was thankfully courteous enough to respectfully ask me to watch the game from a different place and wasn't an ass like this guy. I stopped having a crush on him after that...

Some guy thought I had a crush on him which couldn’t be further from the truth, and told me rather loudly and accusingly to stop taking pictures of him. I was the historian for my club and he was standing next to the guy running for homecoming king for us during spirit week, taking pictures was my job! It was really annoying because I don’t know what he thought I wanted the pictures for. Its just so demeaning when you don’t even like them and they automatically assume that you do, and even worse to yell in front of everyone making me feel like a creep.

Exactly. I suspect she didn't even know about it in the books. In the books, Colin said those terrible words to his brothers, and the look on Pen's face at those words made Benedict realize that she is in love with Colin.
Honestly yeah. Eloise clearly does care for Penelope but she also tends to enjoy just talking to Pen and not taking her seriously
if eloise has no haters, it means I'm dead! she's too selfish to see past herself and "her issues".
Eloise was quite self-absorbed though. I love her but half the time I wanted to slap her. Her obsession with Lady Whistledown and then her pining for Theo got super annoying. For someone so who thinks she's so progressive, I hated that she didn't realize she could behave so "progressively" was because she was extremely privileged and essentially just bored. I hated how she looked down her nose at Daphne for wanting a marriage match.

At the end, when Colin was being a big meany, you can hear his friend say "Sureeeee" like they didnt believe him!!🤭🤔
i'll say it again: i'm sure what he meant at the end is either that he sees her as his sister or that he thinks she's too precious for him to risk losing her if the courtship fails.

Pen is supposedly still his friend and he’s bashing her to potential suitors, he could at least say her nice qualities and how any guy would be lucky but how they are too close of friends for it to work, blah blah blah. He didn’t have to bash her the way he did.
@@brihannafitch8535 i see your point, but we didn't actually see the rest of his conversation with the other guys. i don't think colin would be stupid enough to badmouth his closest friend just to appeal to some guys he's not that close too. that's why i think that she left too soon and would have heard him praise her had she stayed longer. it's a classic romance trope that a character will only hear part of another's speech and misinterpret everything because of that without knowing that they missed some crucial informations. i have faith in colin's loyalty as a friend, and i think he showed enough of his character to be given the benefit of the doubt.
The boy I liked did the same thing as Collin with his friends, he laughed at me and said he would never go out with me. Years later I lost weight and became more beautiful. He began to be interested in me and in many men. And I rejected it. I am spiteful. Furthermore, precisely the first boy in my story, after a decade, came out of the closet (Gay)... Poor Penelope, I know how she feels.

That’s true, but as far as them sleeping around, it’s all good if both parties agree that it’s something casual. It sucks when one person starts catching feelings while the other person has zero intention of committing. Many men will sleep with any woman who shows interest in him, including fat women, but that doesn’t mean they have any interest in dating a fat woman.
absolutely its funny because fatphobias history is steeped in racism but thankfully this is a world where they are not racist well not as they were in the actual period yet the fatphobia of our current day and this period still remains and plays as if part of the reason she hasn't been courted (beyond just the shyness and bad dress) I guess her being one of the smartest and most perspicacious of the ton, the most sought out opinion being lady whistledown, really shows them for the fools they are. He didn't ignore her. He views her as almost a sister because of her closeness to his sister Eloise. I am certain that was his comment about not dating her meant. He always went out of his way to acknowledge her because he cares.

Colin hasn’t done anything unforgivable, if anything he has continuously reached out to pen when she was standing alone AND protected her from her cousin, MIND YOU-he wasn’t obligated to do any of that. So he deserves her more then anyone.
In the books you’ll realize his mother send him to dance with her and she knew and also colin was so wrong at the end of season 2 it was in the book aswell but different and Penelope heard it all so if she is upset she has every right to be

I get the he doesn't have to be in love with her part, but if he truly saw her as his equal and his friend (as he has claimed over and over), and actually respected her, then he wouldn't have been "horrified" at the question of his friend about him courting her. He could've just said I'm not courting her, we are good friends (which is the normal thing to do here). Instead he literally said - Are you mad? not in your wildest dreams. It's just disrespectful is all

He literally never ignores her. He sees her in every single room and he sees her first. I think Penelope never shows she cares deeply for him beyond friendship, so Colin moves along.
Personally my view on Penelope shifted too. In the beginning I thought her weak and naive. But that changed drastically. I guess this was the writer's intention?
The beautiful thing about the scene at minute 2:20 is that Colin always knows what to say, he always knows how to respond to any word, but he was speechless in front of Penelope (as it appears in the book) ❤. And all he could think of was to say: Pen .... How have you been?

thats part of the character, her mum controls the clothes she wears and the purse strings and she thinks yellow is jolly and will attract the boys(in the book) so Pens made to look tacky and hates her clothes but its not within her control. Luckily that all changes season 3.

His opinion is highly regarded, from a period perspective, she has been declared undesirable by consequence of his poorly worded response. Essentially he just destroyed her already slim chances on the marriage market: after all, who wants to court a woman that has been found undesirable by such a well regarded gentleman from a high ranking family? It would be social suicide for the suitor, poor Pen has every right to be devastated, personal feelings aside.

I know all the Penelope Stan’s are gonna burn down my house for this comment… but can you imagine if this was a male character pining creepily for an unassuming, female character? Who believes she is getting a good friendship out of it? I have always had a problem with how Penelope manipulates those around her in a holier than thou way, all for the sake of a very much so unrequited love. She risks ruining her friendship with Eloise multiple times, disgracing, her entire family ruining her sisters, as horrid as they may, and does not seem to respect the fact that Colin obviously does not take her as a romantic interest. If she were a guy, we would call her a nice guy or a simp. And I believe that behavior would be seen possibly a little predatory and creepy.
