  • My F1 Manager Wishlist 1 - An advanced mode for engineers. When I mention an 'advanced mode' for engineers, I mean that, in real life, there isn't just one technical director, one head of aerodynamics, one sporting director, and two engineers for the radios; there are a multitude of engineers managed by the technical director or the head of aerodynamics. Therefore, the goal would be to give us the option to hire 'regular' engineers who don't have a major role to create a more or less effective team. This would be a great aspect of the game. (It's like recruiting physical trainers in Football Manager; there aren't just assistant coaches or technical directors). Additionally, at the end of their contracts, engineers may request advancements in their roles (not always, but this would depend on the team’s results and their perceived contribution to the team), for example, moving up to the position of Head of Aerodynamics. It would also be beneficial to add a view of all the team's engineers via an organizational chart. 2 - No longer control the cars during the race Our role as technical directors is to provide the best conditions for the drivers, whether it be in terms of staff or infrastructure (factories and other facilities). But once in the Grand Prix, it's the driver who manages his pace, his overtaking, his defense, the wear of his tires. We can intervene and communicate with the driver via radio like Toto or Gunther might do to motivate a driver who is struggling to overtake or who can improve his pace for a good result, or to correct a driver who, for example, complains about a bad set-up and unhappy with the car. 3 - Strategy Lead The strategic aspect of the game is essential and is a very important element for any player. Having a potential James Vowles or Hannah Schmitz at Red Bull who, in the middle of the race, could propose an alternative strategy to overtake or defend a position, for example, could advise us to swap places between our two drivers for a better result. (But they can mistake too) 4 - Media I would like future games to include press conferences or interviews before the Grand Prix. This could, for example, influence the arrival of engineers or drivers from other teams (through praise, for example), or alternatively create rivalries like in 2021 if we look at real life. The media aspect played an important role; moreover, we could be questioned if we are below our targets, asking us how to address these various issues, about rumors, or when improvement parts will arrive… 5 - Advanced Contracts Like in Football Manager, being able to approach a driver through their manager to understand their interest, motivations, and satisfaction with their current team situation would be a key feature. We could also add bonuses, release clauses, and termination clauses for poor performance, similar to when Vettel joined Ferrari. Recruitment clauses could also be introduced, such as needing to hire certain staff members if a driver like Max Verstappen were to join; for instance, one of his conditions might be that we also recruit Pierre Waché or Jonathan Whitley. 6 - More Developed Settings & Post-Race Meetings Our strategists or staff could advise us, for example before the Grand Prix, offering multiple setup options whether starting in FP1 or perhaps trying or analyzing new improvements, or a setup that would allow us to use the car to its full potential (they might also make mistakes). After the race or during the week before the Grand Prix, organizing meetings with the team and staff to debrief on what went well (such as the settings used, race strategy, tire conservation) or what went poorly (for example, sacrificing too much time in qualifying for a better race pace, or vice versa, or a poor strategy, or a bad setup) would also add a new skill dimension for the drivers called “feedback” (like in Motorsport Manager for those familiar 😉). This would concern not only the driver but also the staff, to provide more or less accurate feedback.

  • I saw they added new team generating, whichis a very nice thing. We also have the AI competition for the transfer market (finally) and other features. Now what i really hope is that they can add a couple of stuff to make it final. 1) New generated drivers... suck. So much. They are really horrible. There is no new Hamiltons, Verstappens, Leclercs... All of them at age 19 or 20 have a score of 60-65. I am very sorry to say that this makes the game very unrealistic... Not to say that to actually level up the field you need to go at least 15 or 20 yeas into the future. This has to be fixed. I understand not everyone is a great driver, but the scores need to be more realistic. Maybe some drivers develop quicker than others, others are good but not so much evolving, ... 2) Add driver scouting. But proper scouting. Such as, a 17 year old driver who has an average of 55, has the potential to reach a level of 85 by age 25 for example. This is the information the player needs to have to decide if I hire this guy and invest in him/her or not. Otherwise, I only ned to have 1 scout max in my staff, because I barely use it... Right now as it is, it is a kind of useless feature. 3) Add new generated driver nationalities. Why is it so hard to add it? I'd like to know the nationality of the dirver. I'd like to have drivers from rare countries in my team. Not just brits and germans... If there is a Korean driver, I'd like to have him in my team for example. Or a south African. Or whatever. But I like to know where they are from. Adds some depth to the game 4) Sponsorship of drivers. In the 23 game, one could sponsor new drivers, but one cannot choose which one. If I scout a 17 old talent, I'd like to have the option to sponsor him/her, and choose where this driver is racing in order to increase their growth potential. Investing means paying the F3 or F2 fee (for example racing in Prema would cost 1 million in F2). Also, it would be nice if one could have more than 1 sponsored driver. Maybe 3 or 4 would be amazing, so you can actually play with future talent into the team. 5) Team sponsors. It would be nice if one could actually try to get new sponsors to get more money. Like bringing Coca cola, or Monster (or fake brands), sign lucrative contracts with high season expectations, ... Having a say in the team economics would add more depth into the game. After all, it's a management game. Not just race management. But team management. That should include the economic aspect too. 6) Merchandising. It would be good to have a hand on the team's sales too. Caps, tshirts, ... have some items, put the price, ... For example, if you are Haas and are stone dead last, your sales would drop, and you'd have to play with the price of things to try to earn some money. If you are Red Bull, you can sell a cap for 20usd instead of the 5usd if you are Haas. Just to put an example. 7) Tyre selection for the GP. For some reason, you could be saving tyres the whole weekend for the race, but then the game takes that perfect tyre away and leaves you with a very used tyre, compromising your whole strategy for the GP. Why!?!? One should be able to choose which tyre are saved for the GP. That is a very basic thing. Or let me know which tyre the game will take away, so I can be sure to destroy it during the weekend...

  • The amount of time it takes to simulate a race is the big thing that stops me playing more. Racing is awesome but in a manager game I'm interested in the behind the scenes minutiae not the race at the end, especially in a dead rubber.

    • Exactly, that's why I think the option to have the instant result of a race (as for free practice and qualy) is a necessary addition

    • Could be interesting, the only problem may be the time required to do so, and the game already takes much time to finish a season

  • F1 Manager is little more than a turd, that you can polish, but it'll remain a turd. And it's not even it's own fault. With F1 being overly restricted these days, you'd have to go back in time to simulate a late 90s season if you want to make a game that feels like you actually have something to manage in the first place. That's why Openwheel Manager 2 looks much more promising than Race Engineer simulator 23.

    • I agree with the fact that F1 (and thus the game) is too restricted, but I still think that there is the potential to make a good game.
