Came here about to say "I am sure I am the 900th person to say complete demolition" if only to start from proper, modern foundations would have been my instinct even if I thought it was just going to be a few add-ons.
The old "I started with a plan, but then I kept changing the plan along the way" type of renovation. 😂

Wow, that's a lot of work. Wouldn't it be easier/cheaper to remove the old house completely and to let build a new one from scratch?

I was thinking the exact same thing, there was a point in the video where little was left on the inside and theyd started to remove the roof and all i was thinking was the amount of wasted labour to leave a shell of a house. Im no builder but i assume a dozer would make swift work of that house and new building structure erected in a few weeks. Kudos to them though for the sheer amount of work theyve accomplished.
I see the remnants of about two of the original walls standing. Zoning?

I like the solid structure of this house. The aesthetics are not great but so much potential. Your careful cleaning and disassembly of the many awkward decorating decisions by previous owners is going to payoff in a big way. Good luck and much admiration for your work.

I think you should disconnect the rainpipes from the existing canalisation and build a seperate rainsewerpipe next to the greywater sewer
Hi Patrick Thanks for watching There is a seperate soak away in the garden for the rain water, the pipes from the house run from it, the drain under the slab is just sewage. Regards Kairos
Have to agree with Hauke, it would seem to have far easier and more economical to just demolish the whole house and build a new one.

Did not understand why no reinforcement rods in concrete footer? Amazing amount of work.
Hi Reinforcement was not specified for building regs, in previous projects we have had to reinforce normally because of changes in ground conditions, most on the concern this time was the trees and clay heave. Thanks for watching Regards Kairos

Impressive work effort - but I will have to ask - would it not have been easier/cheaper to tear down the existing house and build a new one (I am aware that you have done most of the work yourself and therefore saved labor wages, but nevertheless)?

My thoughts too mate.I was like, "Why are you doing that?" The fireplace, why? This is a demolition, not a renovation. Unless there was insect or intense water damage, everything they tore off was salvageable. One day with a front end loader and the whole thing could be brought down. I love watching stuff like this but only if I know the end game. It's sort of a shame that all of this material was removed, just to be replaced. Nice time lapse though.

Hi Jean-claude Yes lots of the property had to come down, this was to get the building that we wanted and also so that we could tie in well to the existing structure, at the start of the build we didn't think that we would have to remove so much 😃😃😃 Regards Kairos
Wow. That really should have been fully demolished and a new house built. Could have been in and out within 6 months and done it much cheaper.

we are going to renovate this house we start by tearing the whole place down and building a new one in its place.

йопересете! який грубезенний фундамент!!! Я думав там 5-ти поверховий будинок буде на такому фундаменті...)) хоча не видно чим ви його звязали з основним, і не дали арматури... 29:23 балка праворуч на пів метра зайшла на колону, а ліворуч буквально на 10 см. - це погано, вона упаде разом з другим поверхом!!! і там потрібно було зробити бетонну колону бо стінка з шлакоблоку не витримає навантаження! 19:01 - це зєднання не надійне і там буде протікання. Потрібно було як мінімум помазати силіконом місце зєднання.
Hi Donlionkon Дякуємо за перегляд і коментарі Будівля, за планом, спроектована дизайнерською компанією, також був інженер-конструктор, який розрахував усі навантаження та те, що має бути, де та розміри тощо, стіни з дощок, які існують для підтримки, це бетонні блоки, а ми також використали плитку під плитку. балки, щоб не було роздавлювання блоків (це частина того, що відбувалося в оригінальному будинку. At this rate, just buy an empty plot and build a new house. This is not renovating, this is 'leaving the foundation and the chimney somewhat intact' then building a different house.

Why did you buy the house if you were just going to knock it down?
Hi Cranstal When we bought it we just planned a light renovation, new kitchen, bathroom etc, unfortunately we found wood worm and damp so while sorting that might as well add some square foot 👍👍 and the rest you can watch…. Teagarden Kairos

Ein Betonfundament ohne Bewehrung geht ja gar nicht, das reisst beim ersten Frost
Hi Thilomaier Vielen Dank fürs Zuschauen Das Fundament ist etwa 500 mm breit und teilweise 2 m tief. Dies war die Vorgabe des Bauingenieurs. Wir haben einen sehr schweren Lehmboden, weshalb wir das rosafarbene Brett einbauen mussten, um das Aufsteigen des Lehms zu verhindern. Die Originalfundamente sind etwa 25 mm tief % der Dichte, ich hoffe, es geht uns allen gut!! Regards Kairos

Surely it would have been easier and a lot quicker to bulldoze the old bungalow and build new. Doesn't make sense.

I personaly dont get it why you would buy such a sweet little old house just to destroy half of it but I also dont know the vision or your life you have so I guess we will see how it turns out

what a waste of time and energy! it’d been easier to just flatten the old shack completely and build from scratch! and this is not a bungalow renovation when 9/10 of it is newly built and added

The ceilings and the gross insulation...okay got that, then the wall tiling well all right that's pretty ugly and useless, then all the floor tiling, the fireplace, then the walls themselves, then the roofing and then and then....at 32.09 in the background as they are putzing around with a few I-beams...there is obviously nothing left of the original bungalow at all. Nothing. Why bother with a 'renovation' when it obviously would have been easier to just knock it all down and start a fresh build. This is nuts. And I'm sure the neighbours were thrilled with the open fire for weeks on end. Good Grief.

That's not a renovation. It's a complete rebuild.
The title of this series is Bungalow Renovation. The definition of renovation: to restore to a former better state (as by cleaning, repairing, or REBUILDING) If the title was Bungalow Restoration/refurbishment. Which is generally concerned with increasing a property's value or prospects. I would agree that it is incorrectly titled.
