    • Throughout his very long career, every time there's been a development in recording/broadcasting technology, he's used it for his next project, and made sure that the tech & project are the best fit for each other, eg time-lapse for plants. So yes, you're right. Absolutely going to be the best! Without him, I wonder how many of these new technologies would have been as successful as they did become instead of being a short-term fad, and dumped when the next big thing came along. He still uses the most appropriate tech for each story, and I for one am extremely grateful for all that I have learned because of him. I had crap science teachers and after the third year of high school, I dumped all sciences (you could do it back then), and went on to specialise in linguistics. Had it not been for him, my knowledge of biology, palaeontology, evolutionary theory and so on would be nil. And because he made those subjects fascinating, I've learned about chemistry and physics, and even took planetary science (which included astrophysics and geology) as part of my degree. So without him and his passion for technology, maybe my eldest wouldn't be a PhD in medical biochemistry, because he got into Sir David's series and developed his love for science as we watched them. I just wish I could thank him personally.

  • Scrolling through the comments, I really want to clarify: this is a DIFFERENT SPECIES than pet hamsters! In Dutch they're called 'Cornwolves' which might be a better name than 'European Hamster'; they're to hamsters what wolves are to dogs. Wild relatives =) Fun fact: The name cornwolf is derived from an old Dutch word for greedy, which sounded like 'wolf'. Legend has it, the hamster got that name 'corn-greedy' long ago when a farmer uncovered a single burrow with 65 kilogram -!- of corn!

    @gwendolyn9300@gwendolyn93004 жыл бұрын
    • The european Hamster isn't what the Wolf is to dogs,more likely what the mexikan red wolf is to dogs, our pet hamsters can be traced back to Syrian golden hamsters

    • Ben Schneppensiefen Our standard pet hamsters ARE Syrian hamsters, they’re just given fancy marketing names at pet stores to raise the price on them for their various colorations. A Syrian hamster is a Syrian hamster, period. It doesn’t matter if they’re long or short haired, it doesn’t matter what color they turn out to be when they’re born. They have a standard set of traits to tell them apart from their smaller cousins, the dwarf hamsters. For example, they’ll call a long haired black Syrian hamster a teddy bear hamster. They’ll call a short haired black Syrian hamster a black bear hamster. They’ll call a black and white one a panda bear hamster. And they’ll call a short haired golden Syrian hamster a golden hamster. They’re all the same species of hamster, they’re just different colors and different coat lengths.

    • @Mr. Faith I’ve owned several hamsters throughout my lifetime and there’s a difference between their temperaments. Male hamsters tend to be more easygoing, while the females tend to be more boisterous. Females go into heat once every week or so in adulthood, making them more likely to be aggressive and nippy even if you got them used to being held when they were young. Males are less likely to be aggressive and nippy in adulthood, they won’t be going into heat like the females do. As long as they have their own space to themselves, they’re happy. Another note, male Syrian hamsters are smaller than the females. I currently own a male Syrian hamster, he’s still young so I got him used to being handled within the first week. When I first brought him home, he bit my fingers every time I tried to pet him or hold him. That didn’t stop me from accustoming him to human touch. He doesn’t bite me anymore now, I just have to wash my hands every time I give him small bite sized pieces of fruit, veggies, or meat so he doesn’t smell it on my fingers afterwards and bite me thinking I have more food for him while he’s sitting in the palm of my hand. He doesn’t mind being petted while he’s getting a drink of water or stuffing his cheeks with food either.

  • Gravster: The cemetery Pokémon Type: Normal/Ghost This Pokémon eats the flowers and candles left behind at gravestones. Local folklore says that the Gravsters are actually reincarnations of the dead people being grieved, and are merely collecting their gifts. Evolves into Raibel (grave-digging Pokémon, Dark/Ghost) at level 23 while holding Amulet Coin.
