One of my favorite animals at our zoo is the Giant Ant Eater! Such a wild looking animal from it’s broom-like tail to it’s long snout! Check out how we feed these guys and how amazing they really are here at ZWF MIAMI!

  • Fun fact: these guys are capable of slaying jaguars and humans very effectively. If it looks like it's about to give you a hug, trust me you're actually going to get quite the vibe check so please back off for your shake.

    • @Chris M: more like just the sloths, because sloths and anteaters are more similar than we think, they both have long coats of fur on their, hence the name of their order, which is the order Pilosa, which is latin meaning "ones with hair".

    • No. I live in South Carolina and asked this very question, and they cannot live in this environment. With alligators, snakes, and other stuff, the anteaters could not serve as pest control in this natural environment. But I'm sure private pest control could use anteaters for stuff termite, fire ant, and bee infestations.

The claws look deadly! haha. RIP Sir whoever you were. Your anteaters dont show animosity towards ppl ever? Just curious how they adapt to human caretakers, food, treats, etc.
