I like the way you got the studs out I use my welder for the broken sticking out ones but never thought about doing it like that!
Shop wanted $1500 to remove a broken exhaust stud on my 6.0 GM. Instead I pulled wheel, inner fender and my bud (welder) came over and welded a nut (like you) over broken stud. Cost me a case of beer and had a great visit. Worked like a charm. Well done sir :-)

Having torn down a few motor’s myself, I find that if you break loose exhaust manifold bolts by hand first, then you can hit them with an air tool, you won’t break bolts in LS Aluminum heads. Great video. o7
Always take the bike in the back for the first test drive. That way you have a ride home if somethings not right :) Great vid

Nice job, really enjoyed the video. Are the exhaust manifolds tight against the frame? I have heard that manifolds from a Camaro tuck in closer to the engine.
My best luck for exhaust bolts is the same. I don't use a impact and I let it cool for about a min before twisting them out.

One of these days I would like to buy a square body and ls swap it. Use it for offroad and go to glamis and shit. Hope to do it soon.
I have a 87 K30 Army truck with a 6.0 and a TH400 trans. It uses the 350 clam shell motor mounts to the frame and Dirty Dingo Motor Mounts to the Block. It is like pulling your 350 out and putting in another 350. I would recommend the Holley Sniper Fuel Tank for that swap.
Did you use the slider mounts?
Wow, a guy who can actually mechanic. Not just a parts replacer. Well I'm not saying he didn't replace a big part. Work on.
I wish I had the time to do stuff like this.
I got my studs out by torching them with map gas, and cooling them with water a few cycles, and letting it sit with penetrating oil. Then right before you try to loosen the bolt, heat up the bolt again, and the surrounding head, cool the bolt with cold water so it contracts from the hot head, and use a ratchet to pull the stud. Impacts always break them

Good video. Is it worth it? I got a tbi 350 getting 17-18 mpg with sufficient power. Just blew head gasket. Contemplating ls swap is it worth it?

What if any mods did you do to the truck to fit the engine? I have read you need a different crossmember. What motor mount adapters did you use? What radiator?
And this is why people dislike LS swaps it’s sooo simple to do but hey I think they’re just mad they have to dump $$$ into a high end block only to get gapped by a vehicle with a junkyard LS with a spinny wind Boi on it that they put 1,000$ into lol great job man love it

It’s just ECU:”hey engine you got power yeah?” Engine:”yeah everything is working” ECU:”Ah cool” Engine:*starts* ECU:”seems like everything is fine” And that’s like the gist of a LS swap cause everything is soooo simple to do and the fact it’s wide variety of power adders for cheap low buck high horsepower performance seems to get on people’s nerves and it always just makes me laugh
Is that a dana 60 under the front of that truck? With the granny low and I'm assuming a np 205 geardriven transfer case I assume that's a tuff setup.

so with stock harness and ecu it runs fine in an old truck? no professional tuning, or aftermarket parts besides a new fuel pump and return line? LS power steering or stock K10 pump? altternator? waterpump?

What motor mount did you use and did you have to remove front crossmember so did hit the harmonic balancer
Welding a washer to the broken bolt works good.. can get a good weld on it.. then weld nut of your choice to the washer.

did you have to change the oil pan on any of your k10 swaps? i see some people are swapping to a conversion pan because the crossmember hits? is this necessary?

Did you have to cut that cross member out right were the crank pulley is? My buddy did one for his son and it was hitting there bad same truck same engine they cut it out
so question on this build did you have to cut the floor to accommodate the shifter

What did you do about the exhaust manifold on the passenger side ? I have an 76 K10 4x4 I did an LS Swap 5.3 / 4L60e and my stock manifold won’t fit because of the ear on the manifold hits the frame and egr outlet that you plugged hits by the motor mount

How much would you charge for this swap, in another old chevy c10? I realize it can vary, but can you ball park it for me? Trying to figure out how much I should pay, so I don't end up getting ripped off. Just a 5.3L or a 6.0L swap. Taking the tired old 350 out.

4:50 You Not the first person 😒 to do That. Long ago I worked at a oil change for 18 Wheelers. Not me, but another guy, did Not put the drain plug in. We had fresh (new) oil pumped out of a hose. He had so much oil 🛢 😩 on the floor. We renamed that truck EXXON Valdez.
Yep... my LS had to have welding done to remove a manifold bold... took three tries.. the bolts are trash.
SOMTIMES I WISH I JUST DID THE MOTOR ON MY K5 . I STRIPPED THE TRUCK 5.3 1 TON AXELS SHACLE FLIP DIY 4X SPRING MOUNTS IN FRONT NEW SHACKLES 400 TRANS NEW FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT WIREING .THIS WINTER SUCKED AND REMINDED ME IM GETTING OLD LOL
