Man I’m really enjoying these daily episodes Cody, please if possible continue to do it like this expect for your off days brother!
Cody, It's so kind of you to build this cabin for a single mom and her 3 kids from 3 different daddies.
For free.
👍
😂
Loving these. Currently building my own offgrid cabin in tropical Australia. Bought the land outright and now doing all the building myself while living in a leaky 1970s caravan. Good times, praise God for the opportunity.
When I saw the title I thought "Damn that was quick". You got me 😆
At this rate, be lucky to see the real roof on before the snow falls in 2026.
I know we have experimented with a lot of different styles of videos on this channel. This, by far, is my favorite and why I keep coming back to this channel.
if this power hookup house isn't finished in the next three episodes my head is going to explode!
Cody, your work is truly a masterpiece, exhibiting exceptional attention to detail. Pay no mind to any voices of haste; quality workmanship rightfully demands its due time.
He’s never in a hurry. Steady, but never hurried. Maybe that’s part of why he has quality work instead of rushing
The shot of you ripping boards with the snow capped mountains in the background was pure art.
The last minute of the video was incredible made me reflect on how simple some things can be but they are so important in the end, very important to never leave any stone unturned in a project finish it completely
I'm guessing Cody produces these videos; kudos to him for that, and also his far-ranging practical knowledge on many hands-on topics, sense of style and humor, willingness to show his imperfections and flaunt his idiosyncrasies.
Making progress! I want to build a kayak rack with a small roof over it. This gives me some ideas.
The music at the end was a beautiful touch. Really helped me forget about all the worries of the world and focus on the joy of building in a lovely nature scene, even if it was just for a few seconds. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
Board and batten the back that would look awesome!! killer job
Quite the view you have there sir.
Those tight rings on that lumber is SO much ! I always look for the tightest grain I can find when picking handles for strength (front to back, of course) .
Literally saying all the words my grandpa used to say when I was 9 and I had no idea what they were, and always wanted to. Thank you!!! If you could do a Vocab post for the noobs and city mice, I know we would all love it! Thanks for the content! You’re the man! 👍🏼
You are so welcome!
Really enjoying this series, sir, thank you! One of the great joys in my life has been the time spent in the shop and garage with my dad building furniture or finishing renos on a house, and watching you do this project step-by-step, methodically, is a wonderful reminder of that. Makes me realize I haven't appreciated that time enough though.
Amazes me that viewers won't hit that like button. If I watch something even for a fraction of the time it plays out I still hit it. Come on guys.
I used to be a professional builder, custom log home repair and renovation was my favorite thing to do. I was in renovation and got known for custom carpentry reno work. I used to use fancy tool belts. Back injuries have gotten to me so I use a nail bag, with a rasp, a tape, a nail set, utility knife, and sometimes a small utility side cutter. Lol that's my kit these days. I'll still do small custom things if someone asks for help or teach them in the process. Always wear suspenders now too.
Same here! The last few years that I worked, I had suspenders on my toolbags!
Absolute genius at subtle ways to trigger comments.
Simply beautiful, beloved.
Thank you so much!
Afternoon Cody, really enjoying this series, had stopped watching you for quite some time so it nice to go back to my old habits watching you, turn on iPad, go to KZhead, select your latest video, hit like AND Then be entertained and educated, well done. Also noticed you look much fitter than a couple of years ago, take care
Episode 15: time to plan the cabin
Looks like Wranglerstar is really "raising the roof" with those rafters!
if you use a longer holder (perhaps 6 inch) for your P2 driver bit, you will find its easier to see that it is in line to the screwhead, reduce skidding and thus damage to both. I find that a longer holder only rarely gets in the way of driving.
Nice, loved the Mr Roger's feel of this video.
What a picturesque homestead you have!
The beautiful mountain in the background! Very nice property!
Hard not to be inspired working with that scenery.
Good luck on the inspection sticker😂
Cutting off the bull nose to make it look like you harvested the wood lol
When ripping on the table saw, slip a couple of fingers of the pushing hand over the fence. If something goes wrong, this helps keep the hand from being thrown into the blade.
Enjoying the slower series. Great watch!
That smooth motion behind the saw....now there's control for you!
Love this series
Thank you 🙏🏼 you are blessed 😊
Well now, that is a beautiful little rafter roof!
That's giving me the fizz Amazing Smooth work cody!
wow, so pretty. I'm having an awesome time with watching this project.
Nice job sir :) 💯🙏
The birds are gonna love to nest under it ~
Great work! Start as you mean to go on.
Beautiful work. For a west coast man raised by a single mom.
Well, now that gives me the fizz..... the roof and the view. Very, very nice.
Vintage Wranglerstar vibes in this series!
Great idea.
How strange, I've watched every video of yours as soon as it came out for the past 6 months, but the last 3 videos you put out were never suggested to me on my home page. I had to go to my subscription feed to see you posted. Either way, I'll keep watching! Loving the series
Looks awesome 👌
Job well done
Very nice!
This is the best channel
Perfect!
The mountains in the back or some would say mountain is breathtaking
That's going to drive me crazy!
So sorry that big white mound is blocking your view in the background. I know some guys that have very specific skill sets that can remove that eyesore if you want?🤣Great video as usual!
Good timing for me with this awesome series. I need to start building a similar meter stand this weekend.
Go for it!
Now you're going to have to put some V'ed edge 1x6 T&G vertically across the back to give it a finished look from the road.
For a moment I thought the roof was skew, how could I have doubted you Mr Wranglestar.
Beautiful
I love the new cordless drills with a clutch, to help prevent stripping out screws!!!!!
What do you mean new? Lol that has been a thing for decades
Wranglerstar, Your videos always make me happy, so I subscribed!
ha, love it
@1:10 ish is such a lovely mountain view. Nice shot sir.
Is that Rainier????? I love the true north!!!
Raaaaaaaiiiiinnnnieeeeerrrrr beer
When he sat the roof on top of the posts along with paino music, it was just like whenever Linus wrapped his blanket around Charlie Brown's Christmas tree.
Now you need some nice lattice our louvers on the road side of the box to help it blend in.
Nice job
I love these videos!
Music is a great choice 👌
Beautiful! I really do like that Mountain. Hand split Cedar shakes for the roof?
The music gives an almost Mr. Roger's feel. Hello there, it's nice to see you . . .
There are a few things that are better than framing outdoors on a sunny day. 🌞
Nice use of hearing protection and eye protection. Too many suffer from injuries in the trades. I have seen it all my life.
But barefoot 😮
Tough to beat that backdrop
Nice work try cutting angles then alternating , you'll save material and time 😊
Homemade shingles? Maybe ceramic or aluminum protected roof? Solar hot water storage/ heated flooring/ radiant wallls.
If you are going through the trouble of ripping the bullnose off the boards its often a good idea to just buy bigger dimensional lumber auch as 2x12's for your rips because the lumber tends to be higher quality than 2x4's and you can choose something that will get you some quarter sawn grain for better stabilty long term.
DeWalt table saws come with a push stick. For someone who seems to be all PPE, apparently you like to risk your fingers 😉
Purposely watched all the commercials to tip everything I can when I can’t.
For the Algo!
Next build will be an output table for the tablesaw.
A+ Would Reccomend.
“We’ll pick out our best stud” I was fully expecting “Well ladies, here I am.”
Cody, please use pushsticks on your tablesaw it only takes one mistake to get a kickback and the saw pulls your hand thru.
Let’s Go 👍👌😎
😅outside again yes 👍
The real name should be Playing around with my tools waiting for the concrete guys and framers to show up.
I get all the table saw comments and also practice safety at all time...funny though that all the table saw accidents i ever saw on youtube happened on the suggested standing spot...cant recall seeing one where the operator is where Cody stood...maybe the innocent bystander walking past the correct side of the saw...lol
Love your videos, but the way you rippes those studs gave me an aneurysm..no east coast man would do such a thing 😂
Nice touch roofing the electric panel....if you are gonna build anything build it right. Looking forward to the rest of this build.
More to come!
Love the addition of the piano at the end of the episode, do you have a link to it please ?
Prove you can build a working base, wall and roof. Call the plumbers then rockers. 🙏
❤❤❤❤❤
Safety Sally here. Cool project. When using a table saw, only push when behind the blade. Most importantly push the stock against the fence, you can get close to the blade but always behind the blade. Then push the stock through at a safe speed from the back of the stock. You see Wranglerstar on the far side of the blade, but realize he’s probably very cautious where he’s putting pressure on the stock. Don’t do this, he feels safe but knows the risk. Always push the stock against the fence (behind the blade) and from the back of the stock, and never have anyone grab the stock on the other side. Use an outfeed table. We know he usually explains these things, but each video can only be so much.
Yeah...watching him pull that 2x4 through the saw instead of pushing it all the way boggled my mind. Not to mention the non-use of a push stick or something. To each their own...but I like keeping ALL my fingers. The world is full of 9-fingered old timers who also thought they would never have a problem. **shrug**
@@asbrandYou’re right, I can’t think of a scenario where you’re in control while pulling the board. The torque on the outfeed disables you. You might not impale yourself, but maybe someone behind the saw 😳 I, personally, don’t think he was pulling the board but still scary.
Said it for me.
absolutely. i have sewn up amputations or completed partial amputations from table saws so many times that i never even let my fingers pass the plane of the table.
He’s in the middle of a field. “Use an outfeed table” blah blah. If you know what you’re doing and you’re safe about it it’s fine. You guys are the worst, lol.
It's hard not to be jealous
Loving the series. I'm a finish carpenter by heart so I appreciate the 'extra steps' to make everything look better. Quick question: Why didn't you face screw the first set of rafter trusses to avoid the screws hitting each other when you installed the second side? Perhaps I missed it in the video but something you probably compensated for off camera.
I don't like to run screws into end grain, it's not very strong,
@@wranglerstar I knew you had a reason...I appreciate your intentionality : ) Thanks for responding.
Woohoo!
Electricians are messy, but I've had to clean up after a lot of messy carpenters, too.
You need one of Ron Paulks work benches
For the love of those trigger fingers please make yourself a gate, or at least a push stick? I mean I get it... I know we have all done it at times... Hoping im worrying for nothing and you have a sawstop in there but I was under the impression they only work in full sized table saws
