I love how Stolas's eyes are usually empty red voids, but when he shows intense emotion, like when he stood up to Stella, or here at the end as he's consumed by grief, he gains little pupils, it really helps you connect with him more and makes the moment more impactful

And you're right, Blitz is too scared to truly care for anyone. We still don't know how he blew up his relationship with Verosika.

@Random_orphan24 if you remember back to Loo Loo Land when he uses his powers as he's carrying via out of the fun house he also has them. I agree that he probably gets them when having strong emotions but maybe when he's using his powers as well.
I think what hurts so much is how real this kind of one-sided relationship is to people. A lot of people live this kind of life where there is somebody they care deeply for that refuse for whatever reason to give them the time of day.
From my personal experience, it seems like a two sided relationship, but one side is unable to give it for some reason, while the other is so passionate about it... this is like me and my gf... I love her and she loves me, but I am the more passionate one, while she will often ask me to leave her alone... she has many issues, with her visa, but also personally... if only she knew I could solve all her problems within a week or two... This is what makes her so different from my ex... for my ex I was just a ticket to Europe, once I was no longer needed she easily discarded me... for my current gf, she is in Europe, but needs to extend her visa, I have the answers and contacts to do so but she refuses, because she does not want to burden me as my ex did... I kind of wish for once my gf would use me as my ex did, just this one time, for both of our future together

Stolas doesn't just want Blitzo anymore, he wants him to be happy. But here, he understands what sacrifices might need to happen for that to come to pass. He hates what might need to happen, but he's willing to face it to help the one he loves. This episode is going to break me, and I'm sure many others as well. What a song.

I love how the moon is depicted as stolas’ love. First small and bright, something he can hold close and dear. Then larger, something harder to hold but something still fully within his grasp. Then at the end, impossibly large but also just out of reach. It’s tragically beautiful and I love it.

I love how at the end the moon is impossible to hold and just out of reach knowing he can’t do anything because the ball is now in blitz’s court, but as he’s falling into the terrifying depths of unknown of what blitz will decide he promises that if blitz gives him the chance he will work in the relationship and save them but he needs blitz’s permission to do so. Gosh what a good visual representation of a complicated relationship and just that terror of knowing you need to relinquish control and are left only to hope and have faith that your partner will choose you the same as you choose them all on their own.

But, in the Hellverse, the musical numbers are all diegetic.

There was a poll awhile back that asked which series had better music, Hazbin or Helluva. I dont really think its a fair comparison. Hazbin is more like musical theatre, Helluva is more relevant to daily life. One is more showy and polished, but Helluva touches everything. @@dakforest5344 Yep! PARANOiD DJ! His original version is a little longer with some different lyrics. And even though this version is absolutely beautiful, I like the orginal lyrics better. It actually delves into Stolas' selfishness and sense of entitlement which he later realizes is the problem... instead of trying to absolve him of it right away.

Paranoid DJ must be so proud to know their work is being shown in the actual Helluva Boss universe! It actually being canon that Stolas feels that way... Bryce Pinkham did an excellent job at portraying Stolas' emotions and the animation was amazing. Honestly, hats off to everyone who worked on this!

One additional note on this. The animation adds immensely to the emotion, I can listen to Pinkham with my screen off and still feel the torment of Stolas. BUT, couple that with the animation seeing Stolas's own pained expressions, or his smile when "Let me hold you, keep you close to me" or when the glowing red constellation of Blitz⊗ caresses Stolas's cheek. The power of Pinkman's singing and the animation create a emotional storm that melts his nearly 56 year old overweight guys heart like few animated features have. "Please wake up" from "Once Upon a Forest" sung by the venerable Micheal Crawford drips with sorrow "Brighteyes" from "Watership Down" sung by Art Garfunkel. All I can say is bravo to everyone involved!
The world sucks horrendously already, if I don't get the little happiness of these two getting an happy ending i'll genuinely give up my optimism.
Bryce Pinkham actually made Stolas' heartbroken voice sound realistic. I like it whenever voice actors and voice actresses show off the range of emotions in their characters' voices. It brings life to the characters' voices.

2:22 I don’t know why I don’t see more comments about this part, but the ghostly soft piano absolutely hits me with emotion. It’s the helplessness and fragility. It’s the fact that Stolas’ sings with that feeling of helplessness. He sings like Blitzø is the most fragile thing to him that he can’t get close enough to Blitzø to comfort him otherwise he’ll break, so all he can try to do is comfort with the softest voice he can manage. That’s what breaks me.
Can I just say, the part where Stolas jumps from the water, and all the droplets coming off him, and reaching out only to fall, are so beautifully conveyed; showing you can give everything and still end up crashing. Gorgeous

2:06 is such a powerful verse. Stolas’s emotion in his voice at “I’m terrified” gave me a lump in my throat, especially since I can relate to this on a deeper level. Handling the thought of someone you love not feeling the same way and you can feel them feeling trapped in the relationship hurts. But losing them hurts more. Props to the voice actor who gave this character a realistic portrayal of grief and understanding.

I’m so incredibly invested in not only this show, but also Blitzø and Stolas’ relationship. Stolas is such a tragically and beautifully written character in my opinion and I cannot wait to see where his development takes us
Stolas is one of my all time favorite characters in any media. He's gorgeous. He's sophisticated. He's tragic. He's got a heart of gold. He's so wonderfully written and designed. His voice actor does him ultimate justice. I initially didn't like his design in the pilot, but it's leagues better now. I wish I could give stolas a hug and tell him that everything will be okay. He really needs a good friend. It seems like he's really carrying all of the cosmos on his shoulders completely alone. It seems like only Octavia really has a true connection with him (Blitzø has room for redemption, but he's just needs to really work on himself and his relationship with our sorrowful prince.)

You can't forget, though, that he's had an interest in Blitz since they were both young. horny or not, there was definitely an attraction on his side. But he's definitely grown since when we first met him. I feel as though he was acting desperate(?) cause that's what he believed Blitz liked or hoped that would keep Blitz around more. Sometimes.. People put on masks and Stolas' mask was being a horny owl. He craved love and affection for so long. He feels guilty but thats the only way he thought could receive it. Blitz blames him but Blitz objectified himself and their interactions then dumped the blame on Stolas alone. Blitz stole from him and dumped him twice. Stolas tried to adjust to him and got blamed and burned in turn.

I completely understand what you’re saying. At first, Stolas just seemed like comedy to me, but now, he’s such a developed and incredible character, arguably even more so than some of the most main characters.
Stolas and Blitzø need to both sit down together for a couples therapy session with Rosie.
I nearly cried watching this. I feel so bad for Stolas. He just wants Blitzø to see that he truly loves him rather than just wanting their little bargain.
Bryce's voice is simply incredible, he totally conveys the pain that the character is feeling, that's really admirable. The totally fluid animation is worthy of a lot of applause to the animators!! the melody, instrumental of the song is very exciting. I cried listening to this. Thank you for making the song canon!! Looking forward to getting much more emotional watching the episode!!! 🌙✨️

Genuinely made me cry a bit the first time I watched it. Stolas sounds so passionate and pained here in this musical. The VA deserves it all hahaha
The sheer gutwrenching emotion in Stolas' "Let me EXPLAIN" at 2:03 left me with goosebumps!! Both he and Blitzø deserve so much better than the hands they were dealt...
The sheer desperation and strain on the vocal chords on "Let" is incredible. My favorite line delivery of the song.

HOLY SHIT. The animation, the vocals, the trauma, the perspective. Just a masterpiece. You can really see how he comprehends and sees blitz's trauma even though he wants Blitz in his life and to love him he thinks by just giving him the crystal it will help even if that means cutting off the slightest connection they had. The line "this soul binds need to come to an end." really puts that into perspective. He just really wants to comfort and help him.

The lyric changes from the original song just make this so much more painful and emotional - we see that stolas doesnt just treat Blitzo as his "impish plaything" but as his dearest, The voicecracks full of pain are so powerful and expressive. So glad Paranoid DJ got to have this song animated. Was in tears when i saw this for the first time. I absolutely love that Stolas sees Blitzo as vulnerable and acknowledges that hes in pain and puts his walls up but hes still trying to fight to show him he loves him and he yearns for him. Cant express how gorgeous everything about this video is.

You know shit is real when Stolas' white pupils are visible. The raw emotion from this song was enough to bring tears to my eyes, and the story it tells with Stolas' love for the moon (Blitzø) growing more and more, but as it grows, it becomes harder to control and further out of his reach. It may have won the Tony for Best Musical, but Bryce was SO robbed of the Best Leading Actor Tony! But that’s just my opinion though.

This is the kind of thing that made me fall in love with Helluva Boss… this is what made me willing to put up with all the sex jokes (which _as a fan of the series_ I can say are hit or miss) and the gore. Just the raw, unfiltered EMOTION. In my opinion, this is the show at its absolute best.
This is the first adult targeted cartoon that I really enjoy a lot, and I think a big part of it is due to the right balance between the gore, the mature jokes and other type of humour, and the heavy plot line. That’s the kind of adult cartoon I need more of, i really enjoy how its made.
This song gives me the speechless awe of how Lullaby for a Princess had me when I was like 11 years old. Never thought I’d feel that again. This whole thing was magical and that’s an understatement I actually have no words to describe this. I am 21 years old geeking over this some things never change. Ozzie sending that gemstone was such a good touch, seeing as he's going through a similar situation as Stolas. I might be a little behind on Helluva but I just like that attention to detail for those two. Absolutely beautifully done. I love the representation of Blitz being the moon that revolves around Stolas, the music, the song, and the colors were just gorgeous ❤
Honestly I think Ozzie and Fitz truly are stolas and blizø but better, cuz unlike him and blizø they communicate better and have something a lot healthier, they're what him and blizø could be if they communicated better
I absolutely agree. I feel like with Ozzie and Fitz, it's the feeling of "What We Could Be" where with Stolas and Blitz it's "We're Not There Yet" and us Viewers are just shaking our fists and going *Do the thing* But I also really like all these trip and fumbles they have cause their relationship did start out as a tit-for-tat agreement, one for monetary gain and the other for physical gratification and you can't fix that right away. But I'm also still shaking my fist and saying just do the thing.
