proper back in day this, rallycross group B rally cars and Murray walker,im 16 again watching this on a wet rainy saturday afternoon, brilliant
That Tiffany Dell is a mean driver! She’s got a deep voice though......
I think you meant Tiff Needell...:)
😄😄😄😄😄
I nearly wet myself laughing at Tiffany. Good show, sir. And good show on the track.
🤣🤣🤣
Dan-Cristian Dima nah he was right the first time still
You can't go wrong with a bit of old school rallycross Rip Sir Murray Walker
Oh, please.! Stop reminding us that he's dead.. ! 😳
Instant chills as soon as Murray began talking. There will never be another like him.
Pleasantly surprised at the combination of Murray Walker and Tiff Needell, never knew Tiff did rallycross and i never knew that Murray Walker seemingly had a clone army of himself to voice every single motorsport event ever held.
You're an absolute Saint for uploading these - the perfect distraction at the moment. Thank you
Absolute dream grids in these races, incredible stuff. Sierra Cosworths, Audi Quattro, Metro 6R4, Peugeot 205, amazing wee Renault 5 Turbo, BMW E30, Ford RS200, Lancia Delta! This will never be surpassed
I met Murray once. Had a short chat over a drink. Wonderful man. Totally genuine, humble and hard working. Utterly enthusiastic about Motorsport!! My work has led me to meet a few dozen famous folk. I think Murray was the 'nicest' of them all, IMHO. Not that I'm Judge, just my personal impression.
So grateful that at the age of 32 I may still discover things like this, rallycross in the 80s!! And that voice of Tiffany Dell, took a min for that landed 😂 so happy right now 😊
And thank you so much for putting in the effort to digitize the videos. 👍🏻
‘Look at That!, My Goodness !!’ God bless our Murray 😂😎👌🏻
"Jarmo Lahteenmaki having been well and truly blown off by Tiff Needell"

When rallycross was so popular it attracted ex F1 drivers, and TV celebs. Add some brutal ex group b rally cars and you can't go wrong. Always great to see Tiffany Dell racing too 😂
keep it coming, nothing better than 80's rallycross
Makes up for the demise of group b. Our consolation prize.
“Who’s driving style is nothing short of absolutely sensational” bless him old Murray.
Rallycross was a different thing back in the days xD
That E30 is one hell of a machine. I just read details about it, absolutely insane. Love these old vids! 👍
Thanks for the wonderful memories. Those were the days ay: 👍🐺👍
that 700hp awd e30 m3 was spectacular to watch, brutal power being transformed into molten rubber, smoke and flames. so entertaining
I miss Murray’s voice. 😢
Love this epoc thanks for sharing, the gold years of motorsport
Great post! I was actually there as a 12 year old at the bottom of paddock hill, spectating with my dad and mate! Rallycross and the truck racing were the best events at Brands in the 80s! Thanks
I used to go to the truck racing at Brands back in the 80's, the crowds were huge.
That's epic!! Love hearing that type of thing. Followed rallys around ireland in late 70s onwards with my uncle. Circuit, Cork 20, Killarney rally of the lakes, Donegal international, sligo stages.....pretty much all of them. Loads of British and European rallycross in mondello park too. Great memories!!
oh how i loved rallycross. glad to be watching it now and its still brilliant!
Just adding my 2 pence worth here. Please look at all the other content on this excellent channel. The Renault 5 of Roger Newbould had a 2 litre Ford BDA normally aspirated engine in it. British regulations were such that if your car was 4WD or turbo charged you would have to go into the supercar category (Formula A as it was known, Newbould was in Formula B) John Welch's car was Opel's mothballed Group B rally project. XTRAC had already built the transmission for it so it was almost rallycross ready. The yellow and blue escort of John Smith was Martin Schanche's car that won the event in 1984. The yellow escort of Kjetil Bolneset was John Welch's and won the 1985 event. Jonathan Palmer had driven it the year before. Jonathan Palmer's RS200 was owned by Martin Schanche and that was a rent a drive car The 6R4 Tiff Nedell drove was Will Gollop's original 6R4. I was watching the grand prix in the back of the pits at Hoppy's Drop and Schanche's RS200 sounded very sick and was misfiring when he put his foot down. Made Gollop's afternoon easier. He told me afterwards it was a broken exhaust manifold.
nice to get an update on the cars and the race. just got to love that peppy little renault 5.
RIP Murray Walker he did so much more than F1. I used to love watching these Real Rallycross cars
Even the dullest race could become edge of seat stuff thanks to Murray!
What a trip down memory lane. Thanks you !!
You're welcome!
Motorsports today aren’t even close to this for pure entertainment 👌🏼
LOOK AT THAT, LOOK!! AT THAT!! Good ole' Needles! Even gooder ole' Murray! - FAN-TAS-TIC!
35:37 I love the 80's safety regulations! 😂 Standing behind a temporary fence looks safe enough right, and the ambulance is right there so it's fine 😂😂😂
this is way way more entertaining than 2020 F1 :)
Yawn
Tiff is such a legend. Was a pleasant surprise seeing him in this race in that weapon of a car
"Tiff's going to say something to us," from a ditch. "Good-oh!"
Group B Rallycross with Murray on the call. Fantastic
Ben Edwards does a great job with C4 F1, but whenever you hear Murray's commentary you remember just how AB-SO-LUTE-LY FAN-TAS-TIC it was!
LOOK AT THAT, LOOK!! AT THAT!!
Murray Walker + British Rallycross. Doesn’t get much better than that
That R5 sure knows how to start!!!!
Gollops Silkolene 6R4 is so iconic. Preferred the biturbo version but still this is a piece of art. Not to mention the sound of that screaming V6
he rode the tyres of that car to win.
Great entertainment. Gollop v Schenche battles were just the best! Thank you for uploading!
26:35 love the guy falling over then others falling over him!
It must have been very distracting for Tiff to be in constant contact with Murray. "Well, Tiff, you've landed on your arse, what do you think of that?" The 1980s in action, absolutely superb.
As Murray Walker would say Fantastic upload! Anders Norstedt putting the tumbledown into Tumbledown Hill.
Faaaantastic!
Murray Walker R.I.P May you give them full commentary up there! A legend now gone, you will live on in peoples hearts and memories. Thankyou for this Upload, Thanks for ALL your Uploads, takes me back some!
2 minutes in and I have the biggest smile on my face 😁
Quite good onboard audio and video for 1988, interviewing the driver 15 seconds after he's off the course.
Took me straight back to the Saturday afternoon’s of my yoof. Great stuff
The beautiful days before 'health & safety'.
And we even survived these days no problem!
Such a breath of fresh air! Not that I’m against it as I’m sure none of us are but all of these regulations hinder the true soul of the sport. So sad.
Back then when racing was racing between men and not their sons, regulated by their worried fathers ; )
Fantastic ! , I was there and so good to see again ..... it will never be as good as that !
So much better than the modern pap. Best content i've watched in months.
I was standing at Druids watching these races, great memories.
Every time I see tiff racing he drives like this, his aggressive driving style is deffo suited to rallycross and BTCC.
Thank you so much for uploading this video, I loved 80s wrc and Irish tarmac championship and rally cross, can't believe tiff needle in a 6r4 beat a lancia s4. The cars where amazing
Absolutely amazing! How I miss all the front runner ‘car wars’ vids too
Old school rally cross was the best. Just pure and aggresive racing without gimmics and joke lap.
Man I wish RX ran at Brands Hatch still. Project Cars 2 made me fall in love with this track
Good to see Roger Newbould hammering the posh stuff with the Renault 5. Those were the days !
That Renault had a massive Cosworth lump in it and was pretty much a Special Saloon racer, it was awesome!
Rally was a whole different thing the cars were monsters and the drivers were hero's fighting for their life♥️♥️
That Renault 5
love R5s that looked so smooth and fast, perfect balance on horsepower and handling.
My God, 700 HP E30!
And AWD. My spirit car.
Oh man am 16 again, pure class !!!
Thanks for finding and uploading these!
Thanks for the upload, classic racing.
Bloody brilliant! Thank you for uploading. 👍👍👍
That was absolutely enthralling all the way through. Thank you for this rallycross gem!
I used to go to all these meets at Brands, thanks for the memories !
Absolute gem. Nice one mate!
Excellent, what a Track layout- won't see that again! :(
Indeed. The grass at Tumbedown Hill is too pristine to allow it.
WE miss your commentating Murray Walker. Lewis Hamilton says he was the "iconic voice of our sport and a great man".😢
Wow that BMW at 15:25 is a rocket! Smoking the tires off every turn!
Mate as I’ve said before your a top bloke for uploading all this classic rally footage mate! Wish i could go back to these times!!
I was at that meeting, was only 8. I still live not too far from Brands Hatch, it's a real shame they stopped rallycross at Brands back 2004, I never understood why. In recent years it's got a lot more popular, with WRX, but I still prefer the old days like this though.
Steven Northwood real jealous. Brands hatch is amazing!
For me the best era for rallycross. Drivers, cars and brands track 👍
people talk about nostalgia...this is nostalgia! Ahh you could do anything in the 70s n 80s 😆
Great post.
This is Rallycross 2023 should be.. and TIFF gotta drive rallycross once again.!!
Brands Hatch is an amazing circuit!
Tiff has skills!
Rallycross was so much better in this Days just some Monster Cars and Drivers Fighting against them today the Cars are much faster and better to drive not easy but not the same
Awesome!! Great Racing!!
Was lucky enough to go to all the Rallycross GP’s as a youngster. My uncle competed in the first few
As did I, also went to most events. Who is your uncle? I might remember him
Great events hey, over two days. Rob Taylor and team mate Bill Riddle. Both in green mk2 Escorts.
Amazing upload again. Thanks for sharing your absolutely stunning archive.
Oh, it's not my archive. All of the recordings are supplied by collectors who just want them converted and where possible, shared. So they deserve all of our thanks.
@@VHSRallies I would be mindful of uploading rallycross VHS, numerous people have uploaded rallycross stuff on here in the past and had their channels closed down usually by the same disgruntled ex employee or miserable son of a bitch I call him of a company that doesn't exist anymore.
@@VHSRallies I'd forgotten I had this on the tapes I gave you! Here's to finding a few more things I'd forgotten about.
@@carcontrolcommitment good seeing you here pal, have seen your handle on loads of motorsports related vids.
Good old Tiff...only man who could overtake cleanly! You can hear Schanche had a miss fire in the A Final...
"Lahteenmaki having been well and truely blown off by Tiff Needell comes in 3rd place!" 🤣🤣🤣 - Surely this has to be up there with the Murry Walker classics? 21:50
Damn bro, you're knocking out some superb uploads, just right for the current situation :)
80's Rally and Murray Walker Gold!
You can really see how the low center of gravity on the Rs200 works to its advantage. Not to mention the power!
I've actually seen two of these unicorns on the road in the past (RS200). I'd hate to think what they're worth these days when you see them getting smashed up! 😢 A Mk2 escort is a ridiculous amount of money these days. I had the pleasure of driving one quite regularly in the early 90's. Another great Ford to drive.
I know this sounds unlikely, but I'd like to see WRX historic class instead of Projekt-e..
There's a retro series in the UK. They do a big meetup at Lydden each year
what a masterpiece of cars and driving!
That final last lap got more emotions than a fully F1 Gran Prix... I'm kidding ahahah but really they were brave to drive to the limit a car with a rear flat tyre that deploy 400 hp (to the rear) on mud!!!!
I enjoyed that thanks👍
And on Grandstand this afternoon we bring you Athletics from the Triple A's at Hounslow, racing from Haydock, Figure Skating from the World Championships in Helsinki, Cricket from Edgebaston, Golf from The Open at Royal St.Georges and Rugby League live from Aberavon. But first Murray Walker and Rallycross.
I was there .... absolutely epic day
Tiff to cool for school 😂can commentate whilst ringing the kneck of a 6R4 I tip my hat to you tiff shame you broke down 😫 the good old days of rally cross ❤️
Top vid top era cheers pal...
Finally some good content
Fantastic!!!
Schanche, and absolute beast of a driver. And as mad as a box of frogs. Pure legend!!! Anyone know what happened to his car? He was walking it and then slowed way down.
Rumour at the time was some sort of cracked exhaust, which cost him boost and thus power.
@@VHSRallies Ah, that makes some sense. Thanks for the info, and the great vid!!
Unbelieveable win with flat tyre! Un(F'N)believeable! Scanche must have had some problems with the boost tho.
The exhaust manifold broke so he lost most of the power
The golden age of everything
i think i can watch for hours on video like this
Brilliant!!
This is what rallycross looks like 🤘
Thanks for posting man. If you're ripping VHS to Interlaced video look into deinterlacing to double the framerate :)
