Thank you! Very informative, can’t wait to try these techniques.
Thank you for sharing good information on Decoys.
Awesome stuff, splitting the strutter and hen decoy 30 to 40 yd apart was a huge help. I've normally been sitting them 10 yd or so between. Tried splitting them up for the first time this weekend, punched the tag because he looped around right in between the two.
Excellent info! Thank you!
Thank you for the info , great content!
Thank you for the tips
Very well said. Glad I watched.
I’ve been using them for about 18 years now and I agree with most you say except the facing the strutter at the direction a Tom come in . What I do is I use a pulley system which I can turn my decoy 360 degrees . What I do is keep the butt at the Tom and I’ll turn my decoy to face the Tom for about 3-5 seconds then I face the butt at the Tom . Then a couple minutes later I’ll do the same thing it shows the Tom that the jake decoy is subdominant . Not only does it bring in the Tom’s it will also bring in the boss hen . Especially if you use some exciting calling and mimic her. I use them from the beginning and last day . I also have a diagram and a video on how I use my strutter . Just go on my channel and I have it posted . I also show you how I made the pulley system . I too mainly use feeders cause I’ve used upright hens and a lot of the times the Tom’s would hand up 60-80 yards gobbling trying to get the hen to come to him . I’m no pro I just love hunting them and helping others that want to know how I get them in . I use DSD but you can use almost any brand , it’s the posture I think that matters . Goodluck to everyone and safe hunting .
I like to use a jake decoy and a hen. I place the jake facing away from where I think the turkey will be coming from. My reasoning is, it may stop the tom from getting hung up out of range and will walk around the decoy, thus being facing the decoy and being closer.
Thanks
This video is obviously not for the naysayers so move on. I've turkey hunted for more than 60 years and decoys have NEVER failed me. Listen to this man.
Exactly, sometimes decoys can hurt you and cost you a bird, but people who say decoys shouldn't be used really make me laugh cause it's so ridiculous 😂
Shoot I’ve been hunting for 20 years and never used a decoy. Has never failed me
Bet I've killed more than you . Decoys are over3
😅
Last year i got a gobble. Set my decoy up in the road. He stepped out and saw me setting it up. Ran off. Lol
Where is Montel, PA? I'm from PA and never heard of Montel.
In PA
I like to place my decoys outside. That seems to be where the turkeys are
Smart
Never thought of that
Mondale pa?! I grew up in Olyphant
Someone gave me a decoy a few years ago. I placed it in the garbage can.
I love to see a show about turkey snake boots copperhead don't rattle around where I live at.
Real waterfowl hunters don’t use decoys either right?
No kidding. I've been outsmarted plenty of times by gobblers and ducks alike. Some people act like it's the equivalent of shooting your turkey in the deli section. I swear the hunting community is its own worst enemy.
Good Lord Willing!! Amen.
Use decoys, don’t use decoys.. who cares. Stop worrying about what the “pros” in the comments think. Turkey deep fries the same shot over a decoy or not.
That’s because Khabib is around the corner😂
I beleive decoys will cost you a bird more than will get a bird killed. How ever until you kill a mature longbeard in the late season over a breeder hen you really cant speak against it.
In certain situations decoys can absolutely hurt you. But sometimes decoys can be helpful, it really just depends.
Do live hens make sure they are set up like you suggest?
Real turkey hunter done use decoys

Perfect decoy placement = leave that shi at the house.
How to use decoys... Don't.
👍 I came here just to say this. Not only is it “cheating” but it’s completely unnecessary. Woodsmanship trumps all. Also, if you need someone else to call, then you need practice and confidence. These “professionals” have really spoiled the game
Lol amen.
What's the Shame in using decoys? Your not better then anyone cause you don't use decoys lol
@@yourfavoritgremlin - lol, it’s akin to going bowling and using the bumpers lanes and claiming that your just as good as the pros
@@-B_G- I don't think bowling and turkey hunting can be compared, cause if you use bumpers and get a strike then your definitely not a good as the pros thats just basic knowledge. There's been times where I did use decoys and where I didn't use decoys. Both pretty much worked the same but decoys can be helpful in certain situations.
Or just be a man and don’t use a decoy in the woods
I didn't realize we were hunting to prove we are a man? I thought we hunted for the enjoyment and experience. Good luck proving your manhood this Spring?
Don't be a nutsack
How does it make you less of a man to use smarter tactics?
OR don't watch the video? Using legal tactics does not make you more or less "manly". You're either killing birds or not. You're out hunting and having fun or not. There's nothing "manly" about hunting. There are women out there who will out hunt you 365 days a year, pal.
