Another advice: only collect what you REALLY want to collect. In collecting hobbies (LEGO, stamps, coins, etc) people have different interests. Some are generalists that collect everything, others are specialists that have very specific collections. Some collect to complete a set, others only collect what they really like. Some collect sealed, others collect loose. Personally I only collect premium castings that I really like and avoid castings that are too similar. A small but diverse collection, that's exactly what I want.
And thats what it's all about, definitely some great insight
@@MUSTANGHUNTER I'm doing the same, really keeps me from hording. However growing up with brands like Action Diecast and TSM I can't stand leaving them in the blister. So now they are on a 3d printed display with the card art built into the background to add some personality.
bruh i collect coins lego and hotwheels\matchbox and play beamNG😅
I’m glad you touched on the buying 30 of 1 casting. I’m a customizer as well, but I try not to buy every one I see of a livery that’s more popular than a lesser one. I try to remember that in speaking of mainlines, they’re a children’s toy first. I’m a collector bcuz I remember what it was like finding that one I wanted when I was a kid. Today’s kids won’t understand that feeling bcuz of grown men taking all of them. The future of the hobby rests on those children today and it’s important to plant that seed. Especially for those that are in it more for a monetary reason (I’m not, I open all mine), bcuz without them growing in the hobby, the values will decrease. I’ve left STHs on pegs if I already have it.
Jesus saves, John 3:16 ❤
F that I'll be getting there before the kids get there and getting every single one I want

That’s a great explanation, though for those who are new to using fandom do be aware that not every variation is going to be there as it’s a community run website and relys on people sharing their variations that are not yet on there
Very true, but for atleast 90% off the time, it will have the info you need as a start

Great info and advice MHD!! Very good of you to share your wealth of knowledge with the community and help all collectors out there. Great job my brother!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks brotha! That's what I'm here for
I took a hiatus from collecting diecast from 2008 to 2018 and I had to learn so much, especially with all the new manufacturers, and the terminology. Back in the day, I just picked up what I liked, couldn't care less about TH's or if it was rare! I would see cases on top of pallets and didn't even think, to ask someone to open them, just walked away! ✌
Yup! Even when I worked at Target in 2007, wasn't collecting then, so I'm sure I missed some goods then lol
Sadly here in Southern California those TH's, STH's and Chases never make it onto pegs. The store managers, stockers, employees are all in on the racket to pilfer the desirable cars from the cases and a regular consumer doesn't even stand a chance of finding one.
Excellent Video!! Thanks for the info. Refreshing to hear a true collector share.
Great vid and info. I'm still trying to figure out how to display my collection.
Jason has been on a crash course of Hot Wheels knowledge and he's been flying straight up the whole time! I'm impressed by his thirst for knowledge, not just knowing it. Super great guy and one of the best in the community! Thanks for all you do Jason! Entertaining and informative video for any collector of all ages and experience. 👊♥😎💯
Thanks so much for your words and support brother, definitely means a lot

No worries, my stores have so few selections, no danger in becoming a serious collector!!
Good info! Thank you for takeing the time and thinking about us noobies 👍🏼
I'm still learning too lol
Taking, don't add e with the ing
after watching the whole video this is my first suggestion to any noob to the hobby
Thanks for the great advice and info.
That was some awesome information. I use South Texas Diecast, I printed out the list from 2000 thru 2007 and mark all the ones I have, plus all the Treasure Hunts from 1995 thru 2021. Can't wait until Monday. Have a great weekend and week to come Jason
😎🤙🤙🤙
I started collecting last year. Definitely addicting lol. My area never has anything new though. Targets, Walmarts you name it. There is either nothing there or it’s all old. I stop in every morning.
Thank you for your video and information. Your collection is impressive and I can see how you have dedicated your time well
Thanks for watching!!! Update to the collection coming soon
Thank you so much!! This video was very helpful indeed!!
Awesome!
I just started collecting only 3rd generation Camaros I roc z, z28 ,years 1982/1992. Your collection is awesome.
Great episode mate.. Love all information ones…Cheers
That's a great explanation. I know everything about hot wheels, I know how to collect hot wheels, I know how to hunt for hot wheels, I collect at least 2 of each hot wheels casting, I collect just about everything out there in hot wheels, and I will be collecting hot wheels for the rest of my life.👍 Awesome hot wheels collection you have congrats.👍
😎🙏🙏🙏🙏
Such great info and explanation . My wife needs to watch this so she understands me.
😎🙏
I recently bought a few hot wheels cars. I haven't bought one in probably 10+ years (I'm 26). When I bought them it reignited my love for hot wheels from being a little kid. Right now I am just getting cars (and motorcycles) I like. I didn't even know what to look for with the more rare cars. Great video! Thank you!
That's awesome man, just get what you like and don't stress the rare one, chases or Supers. They will come with timing and luck. Welcome back to the hobby!
Awesome tips and information 👌
Amazing collection dude, inspired me when i watched it for sure!! Keep the videos rolling. Best diecast ytber in my opinion. 🚀🔥
Thanks man! Really. Hope you continue to enjoy
Thank you!
dont forget one for your kid so get 3

Fantastic video ! Very well done !
Dang!. What an awesome room. I would love to do that to my computer room. Wife comes in the room right now and goes "nah nah your not doing that to this room unless you get a bigger house and extra room". She walks out and goes "waste of money". Ive been collecting for a year now and ive learnt getting doubles is the way to go, 1 for show and 1 to play with. Im now out of room on my desk with over 100cars now. My mouse and keyboard cable knocks them around sometimes especially when im playing games etc lol. Then i have to re-position them etc.
🤣🤣🤣 awesome! It's a cheap hobby and can get overboard quick like mine lol
Great collecting overview!
I learned last year to wait until the mail in boxes come to stores or your buying 20 casting just for the receipt
Just go online I stopped going in the stores because I got all the same crap
Jeez i started by buying one i liked now im like a kid i spent 200 in last week😂 didnt realize they were just as popular when ur an adult as when u were a kid 😂
Haha right! And then when you start racing them as an adult, it's even better🤣
All very good information
I think you missed the MOST important advice for new collectors which is Rule #1 - DON'T START collecting in the first place! Great video Jason! 🤗🤗
Lmao could be very true hahaha
Suweett tutorial amigo great info peace blessing 😎💪🍻
Super cool lacolestion😊
I only buy G-Bodies and that's been fun to try to collect all of them. Thankfully, I open all of mine, so storage is a little bit easier.
Excellent video, did you mention card board collecting..lol.Awesom info..it's Who know at Walmart lol..
🤣🤣🤣
That is 1 hell of a collection
Thanks!
Great info! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I have my sons old cars from when he was little he is 25 now so I’m intrigued to dig in 😂😂😂😂. Thank u
That's awesome
Wow, thankyou
is there a specific source to see upcoming waves and releases? i collect hot wheels batmobiles, and i enjoy the wild color choices and i will buy reuses of the same casting. i mainly collect action figures so this intro into the depths of hot wheels collecting just blew my mind.
Super awesome collection brother 🔥❤🔥
Just getting into collecting 1:64 cars, I'm more of a car enthusiast than a collector so I buy stuff I like. Mainly volkswagon and jdm it's fun for me either way
I just got back into collecting and I think I’m going to stick with the car culture sets this time rather than mainline.
Also its always good to check thrift stores and flea markets for early 80s Malaysia loose cars when the hoods stills opened and sometimes even the rare and elusive hong kong models.. not often I find them but ive found more then I've ever expected to find so that's something to keep in mind
Most definitely!!
That’s one Awesome room ! I see you have a few Richard Petty cars, nice
Oh yeah! Thanks man, I have others stored, but gotta rep The King and Kyle Petty
Great Video, I was collecting Hot Wheels since 2007 at stores and on eBay. I was thinking of getting out of it until I watched your video and now I don't no what to do. I was trying to collect 2 of all Hot Wheels from 1990 to now of every variation and you are right. It is over whelming at times. What I want to know before I decide to keep going with it is How good does the card or bubble of the Hot Wheel needs to be in order to count as being done. Can you Answer that, That will be great on my decision on keep collecting. Keep up the great work. Thanks.
I will make a video on that for you!
Now that's a lot of cars. I'll be there one day haha 😄
🤙🤙thanks for watching!
great collection!
I am glad i started my collection when I was a kid back in the 90's
Definitely! I bet you have some great ones
@@MUSTANGHUNTER I sure do
How to interpret the codes printed on the back of the cards would definitely be so helpful for beginners like me. For example, how to tell what month or year the year was made on HW.
I'll add the month codes in another episode

I got like 12 to 16 bone shakers during a phase last year. I then realized that i was not into fantasy cars and i was thinking of trading or donating them. I guess i shall listen to your advice and keep them for now. Thanks.
Hold onto them for a while, and then if you have ZERO attachment later on after lookin at them, then donate or trade away
Wow it’s my dreamed Room ❤
Got any Hondas or imports to get rid of ? I have a (matchbox) un open mustang you may or may not have..
Bro i was just checking if there was any new uplods ❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Nice Job
Thanks man!
Great information Jason. If I would add anything else it would be, Collect what you like and like what you collect. Don’t collect something just because it’s popular at the time. Take care my friend! 👍🇺🇸
That's a heavy fact right there! Thanks!
greetings from Portugal congratulations for your excellent youtube channel I subscribed to your youtube channel thanks for sharing the videos i put the thumbs up 👍
In europe you are lucky if you find a car thats under 2€ Cars are often beetween 2-3,5€
I still haven't found the answer to the following questions... why buy everything and keep it locked in a package? To resell it later? What's the point? I just started buying different interesting Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, I open them and put them somewhere and sometimes you can play with them to keep your hands busy)
Some get opened, but most stay packaged for the complete collection later in life. It's easy to just display carded than building shelves or buying high-end display cases for loose cars. Plus, when I look back later on, I can see the card changes and know exactly when they were released. If my daughter ever sells them in the future, atleast they will all be completely packaged and easier to get rid of
@@MUSTANGHUNTER oh, I see. I want to look at only, but I prefer to “play” with)))
Outside my Mustang collection, everything else gets opened too
Great video
Thanks man!
I have found 3 or 4,5 supers and traded them all. The best one I found was the F1 ford truck from (2021?) I have a pic of it to remember it
😎🤙🤙
I am a card collector but I see why people want to collect loose. Nothing is better than opening a Hot Wheel. The only one I have opened recently is my Carbonator. It is actually very nice to have at my desk
Definitely choose the ones you want to open. I never really open my Mustangs, especially Hot Wheels, but everything else I will (most likely) lol
@@MUSTANGHUNTER I'm a Camaro collector! I can't even bring myself to open my duplicates lol
Lol in time I feel. Took me a couple years to accept opening some. Rare or HTF ones I won't open. Chases or Supers lol
I was a guy who just bought cars I like that looked cool or experiment cars or new casting literally everything got up to 500 cars or more but have been opening the cars I like now like just opened a Kia stingray gt 2019 also got bunch matchbox have been giving double to coworkers kids at work too it just they everywhere now 😂 but I love it i have a shoebox of about 7 tressure hunts and 1 super also a chase car but I love opening cards and I want customize a bunch still ❤
Thats an insane collection man
Lol thanks man!
Great video, I'm new to dycast collecting. You seem very well informed On the current dicast collecting world As a Mustang dicast specialist, do you know of a 1971 72 or 73 Mustang coupe notch back in die cast
I believe Johnny Lightning has done the notchback, mainly sport roofs tho
@@MUSTANGHUNTER Would you know how many hot wheel sports roofs have been issued? Like the diamonds are forever red 73
I would be very surprised if you didn't have that. 007 James Bond red Mustang in your collection.
Is there a gone in sixty seconds sports roof
Yea I have 3 variations of it
Awesome video 👍
I work retail and i see these giys alot in nightshift mornings

LOVE YOUR COLLECTION
Thanks!
@@MUSTANGHUNTER you are welcome Sir 😉
I got a couple this month, and i'm pretty sure i have much more from ages ago. Need to check databases lol - One question: opening them will mean automatically they will lose ALL of its value?
Mainlines have no value sorry mass produced lol
True these days, unless you have rare interior variations etc from mid late 90s
@SJohnson-dt7qk just desirability
I love this - thank you. Austins Toys 🙂
Thanks for watching
Good info. Quick question.... after you collect all those premiums and TH models what do you do with them? Display? Sell? Use and race?
I open them and keep them in jammers to keep, or trade. Sometimes I even add them to packages in a trade or donate at the end of year to the local Children's hospital
Ok cool so it's really about the collecting aspect and "the hunt" then? Trying to figure things out because I'm just starting out (loved them as a kid but couldn't afford then and now I can) but with all the cars everywhere and all the different kinds it's a but overwhelming. Haha
Yeah it's about finding all the ones you like, hunting those down whether in store or antique malls etc. Trading is also fun too. Glad you're joining it these days!
I never kept the little box.Only the cars
Very cool collection. Just wondering how many cars you have?.👍👍
Its about 7k
I’m from Malaysia and I started to collected hotwheels since 2016 until now… since the price back then was RM7.90 ($1.61) each, now is RM9.90/RM10 ($2.14) each 😮💨
I hope ur from penang malaysia cuz they have alot of hotwheels
good tips ive been at it for 52 years, lol good share sir
Awesome! Thanks for watching
example, you see people hoarding the "Mach it go" from last year or whatever.. it's super common but clearly people want "best for track" cars
I’ve found a couple Zamac in a 99 cents store honestly!

Been collecting since birth lol. Just started collecting cards.
Open one, keep one. That's my strategy
19th thumbs up brother and awesome information and shout-out's shared and enjoyed watching and have a wonderful weekend brother 🇺🇸🙏❤️💪👊👍✌️😎💯

Where do you get those covers for your hot wheels? It’s almost like a Pokémon card slip but for hot wheels, I want them
If you're talking about the little fitted bags, I get them from Walmarts craft jewelry section
I just started collecting
Welcome to the addiction lol
@@MUSTANGHUNTER I collect Pokemon cards I know about the addiction lol
What about error cards? I have about 4-5 Hot Wheels that are not in their correct packaging. One is even a TH.
Those are good to collect as well
@@MUSTANGHUNTER I have a Kamino Car on a Tatooine Card
how did you manage to put all on your wall?, what did you use for it?
Peg board and screws for the stacked display and the rest is thumbtack
how do you manage all this? do you know all you collected?
I have it all logged in my mind, but I do use the DiecastDB app to digitally store and log my cars. It does get hard, but after time, you remember ones you have and don't have
The first tip I would give is "enjoy and have fun" ... if anyone that wants to get into collecting is not enjoying it first then it will not last!
Very true!
Just starting the video,I found my old collection from 1998-2010 not sure if it’s worth going through. All unopened was just buying cars I enjoyed didn’t know about things to look for
That's really what matters is that you collected what you liked. But yeah, it's good to know what you have and what to look for. Thanks for watching
Is there a discord for hot wheels
I'm not having any luck finding "jammers" anywhere for less than $20 + shipping... hopefully they turn up
Btw I found em, Hobby Lobby sells "thread storage" ones that store 48 cars for $10 (24 on each side). Also plenty of options under "small parts organization" that aren't marked up for the diecast collector crowd.
Yeah! That's them!
How many hot wheels cars do you need to have to be considered a collector?
Just more than 1 lol and of course what you like
@@MUSTANGHUNTER oh OK then I git 20 premium hot wheels and 2 mainline hot wheels and a 1:38 scale car
Got a link to the storage boxes? Cannot find them. Thanks.

Do you buy collections or know where to sell? Large Hot Wheel, Johnny Lightning, Matchbox and more.
Shon & Amy McDonald, with their Whatnot, sell for really good prices and are also loyal collectors
i can't find any info online about people collecting the bigger cars, such as 1:32 models and such. Nor if there exists variants or supers of those models.
1:32 doesn't have any "chase" but 1:24 from M2s do
