Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

Hi
covid was made in a lab
Hello my friends ❤❤❤❤❤
I watch his videos before i eat just to make me more hungry 😂
This is not just a food review channel...This is a cultural documentary that makes me appreciate our planet and I will support this channel till l am an old lady with 24 cats.
How many cats you have now?
lol word

24 cats now, they just keep increasing. I clearly have a problem. @@whocanseeyourname3178
I’ve seen this exact comment 50 times
As a child born of this war, this episode made me emotional especially when Yia started talking about his parents, Laos, and the war. My dad was also in the military and the story Yia told is similar to the stories my parents told to me. I miss my parents more watching this video. My dad was also a great cook.
im glad he brought you joy! im sorry for your pain:(
war is cruel… love peace…
Get this Hmong dude off the show he ain't lao stop letting him represent lao people smh clowns
did your dad ever eat bat?
lmao war baby
By far the most appreciative co-host Sonny has ever got. He's my favorite. Dude just enjoy every bit of food and Culture Laos has to offer
I believe Sunny’s true value to all of us who watch is how he emphasizes the concepts of acceptance of other people, their food choices and ways of life. I also loved his guest chef’s acceptance of what his family went through. Thanks to all of u.
Not until it starts a new pandemic....
@@JericCelisThe last one came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, most likely from not following proper sanitation guidelines. The real patient zero was an employee at the lab who somehow got themselves infected. COVID-19 didn't come from these rural villages where people have been eating the same thing for generations
It’s no the choice of food what bothers me, but how they treat the animal before they consume it. I’ve been all across Asia, they don‘t care too much about the animal, it’s simply a food Ressource. I don‘t mean to insult anyone, I love the Asian countries, and met lovely people. This is simply my observation while I‘m traveling
Yiavang is the perfect co-host for this. Educated pallet and some truly fascinating family history. 11/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What an amazing experience for your Co-Host he seems to be thoroughly enjoying his time and culture! Beautiful!
Co host is not even lao smh fail qnd disrespectful af to real Lao
Disrespectful???
He’s Hmong. They also come from Laos. Learn a little. Before you comment.
This is the best channel on KZhead, period. I’m a documentary addict and the production of this show blows any cable tv documentary away. His ability to bring the viewer to whatever location he is at is uncanny. Thanks for the great content man!
Yes
I am British but have lived in Laos since 1997 so as a follower of your shows I had to whatch this. Kudos to you for trying the food, showcasing life in rural villages and the country's recent history. Though I have a mate who does work in the institute of virology in Bangkok so you are welcome to the bats. 😃
This is no longer a food show. It's a documentary about different cultures and ethnic groups with main focus being their food. It's education through food and fun.
Food, history, comedy, travelling and beautiful friendly people in one video. Great mixture.
Agreed!
Wow, I thought Faroe islands and Australia was wild. Man was I wrong... Mad respect to you and how you approach each country and the ethnic food
everybody eats whats nearby
There are more than Australian and faroe island of sunny video's you didn't watch 😊😊😊😊 If Australian and faroe are bizarre you are new subscriber. Watch it and enjoy while eating 😊
Idk I'm still pretty disturbed about the sea turtle. They're such cute gentle giants. Turtle and whale meat make me sad. They have such big soulful eyes.
right when you thought you've seen it all
Yia is an excellent co-host. His family story added even more depth to an awesome episode.
He talk too much 😂😂😂 Sometimes I feel like bro shut up.. Learn to be goofy. And let sony talk for bit. 😅
He annoyed me. He tried too hard to love everything.

@@DeathHugZshut up padest. Lao bow down to the Chinese yuan and used the useless kip to wipe the padest ass. Lol
I'm so happy that there was no institute of virology nearby so that you could share this culinary experience with us. Thank you Sonny!
This is not just a food & travel review channel ....This is a cultural documentary that makes me appreciate our planet and I will support this channel till I'm an old man. 👍👍🥰🥰
Hell yeah.
I appreciate this show so much , not only in this episode it touches on Laotian food it also shared a part of history with the Vietnam War and the different people who were in this war
I’m actually KHMU… My father also fought in the war., I had to replay it a few times when my people were mentioned during this episode. I Love this show.
Yia is very descriptive.. great to hear him express himself
A
😋
That's a Chinese guy speaking for lao people smh clown show
There's definitely a lot of character development from Yia in this Laos trip. Love to see it.
I love when Sonny has a good compagnon to share outstanding unusual food, it doubles the fun and they are suffering together Lol ! the crazy food is always well prepared, so it looks at least yummy😋😆incredible what herbs and spyces can do to make every animal eatable !! Great episode in Laos, a wonderful country in SEA ❤👍Thanks !
I am really enjoying this series with Yia. Watching him enjoy discovering these connections to his roots is delightful
Another great episode and love how you engage the people to understand their culture, and to also ask great questions. Yia's story about his father during the Vietnam war was astounding, and already knew of the hardships the Hmong faced after the war. I'm happy that his family was able to get out. I was a kid at the time.
seeing this episode really made me think of the bs “uncle roger” had to say about lao cultural food .. you never have to like it but it’s the respect you show! thank you for being respectful & show casing your experience in the homeland! 🇱🇦🙏🏽
What he say?
@@karinneeskens that lao & cambodian food is basically a sh*t version of thai food
Who the hell is uncle roger? Also things some cultures eat or do really does not deserve any respect at all.
Uncle Roger is a racist and he thinks hes a spokesperson for all Asians
Yk hua persona is uncle Roger he doesn't really mean most of the things he says also in his latest video he ate lao food and he liked it as well
Sonny, I am consistently amazed by your videos. They are truly some of the best and most consistent content on KZhead, and I can say hands down that I look forward to every new upload. Thank you for enlightening me on the cultures of the world, and introducing me to so many different foods. Your videos have single-handedly gotten me through nursing school, and I look forward to being able to travel the world & immerse myself in other cultures. Thank you!
Thnx to all the members and sonny for hard work and showing us different cultures+food
Love how Sonny got so excited about the catch of the bats 😊
We should all thank Sonny for tasting all the good and WEIRD foods around the world so we don’t have too.❤️🇧🇸
Actually he has opened my mind to taste them….🤷🏾♀️
@@Clacci38😅
I'd be more worried about rabies.
You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to in life, it’s called choice. 🤙🏼
no ones forcing you to eat bats
Hope you two have the time to go through all different ethnicities in Laos and try all their foods on this tour and show us the foods that each ethnicity eats. So far, love the two videos in Laos. I am a Hmong America who left Laos when I was about 12 years old and I dont remember if I have eaten some of the foods when I was in Laos on these two videos, but I dont think I can try or eat some of the foods that you two have tried on these two videos. You guys are like warriors, brave enough to try the foods that we, westerner people are never heard of or we have heard of but known to carried diseases that can kill us. Good job guys, can't wait to see your next video from Laos.
What a positive experience. I went to Laos for almost a month. I also noticed that as little as they have, they are more happier than most people here in the states. They are full of life and happiness.
Truly the Best Ever Food Review Show! Thanks.
This channel teaches something .... THE WORLD IS A WHOLE WIDE PLACE. Travel is the number one education one can ever get
Bizarre bat dishes notwithstanding, this transcended food, and delved into culture and history, bringing together families that fought each other during a war decades ago. Your co-host must have experienced a sort of healing and closure by being on the same ground his father trod as a young man. The love of food and discovery has made that happen. Sunny, keep this show going, it's what we all need.
This channel has taught me alot, its really fascinating to learn about us (being human) of different cultures and food habits around the world. Thanks to Sonny.
These are my favorite, going with the people that know what they are doing and catching the animals for food. Shows you the process and how its also a source of food and income in the area. Loved this.
Here's a fun fact: My mom is Hmong and was in a refugee camp in Thailand. She immigrated to the US in 1992. The previous year the movie Terminator 2 came out and apparently it was shown to the camp my mom was in. The movie scared Hmong people so much that it created a fear of going to the US, because they thought Americans were like the T-1000. According to my mom, there were a couple Hmong families that refused to go to America because of this.
How to catch COVID tutorial ☝🏿😅
Sonny how are you still alive? It's always a crazy experience watching your videos, I have learned so much which i would never have learned from books alone.
LOVE HOW EVERYONE COMES TOGETHER TO HELP EACH OTHER. HOW THEY GO OUT AND CATCH BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER THEN EAT.
I’m just happy to see lots of recipes with MSG..I had to order it online here because reasons.. It’s like gluten intolerance..yeah it exists but is way rarer than people pretend it is. If you have a allergy then I get it but I worked in a Chinese restaurant when I was 16 and MSG was in everything, it’s a great flavor enhancer.
I have seen bat clouds like that, leaving Carlsbad Caverns. The sky turns dark, the sky moves in a mysterious way, and a few minutes later, it is all clear. Amazing sight, and I can’t imagine catching (or eating) them.
Great episode, like always. Fascinating approach to different cultures!
Let's all give a big thanks for this channel, really appreciate the way you the videos are staggered so we get 2 or 3 per week sometimes
I just love someone who shares my passion. My goal in life is to become successful enough to travel and try all these unique foods. Nothing else calls to me like what sonny does
Love my people and my home land. Thank you for showcasing the incredible food and culture of Laos, again 🩷
love your people and your home land but your food is not for eating animal food
such a cool episode, food, history, culture , hunting and phenamenal sights, it has everything. plus a very good back ground music.
Wow. Another really good video. This was so touching and knowledgeable. I think this is my all time favorite youtube channel...ever.
Love the channel and how you introduce people to different cultures! The bats make me a little queasy, but this is why this is your show and I just watch and learn 😅
Man, I really respect Sonny. He has the guts to eat anything.
This channel is more than a food review; it's a cultural documentary that fosters appreciation for our planet. The emotional connection to Yia's story resonates deeply, reminding us of the importance of acceptance and understanding.
Loved every second of this!
Sonny, i definitely appreciate you for everything you do and puttingy people out there. Most people dont know who we are when we mention that we are KHMU people. I love all your videos but i love this one the most. Thank you!

Who would have guessed that a group of people hunting and eating bats could be so humble and intellectual at a dinner table..!! ☺ I just love how this channel breaks a stereotypic mindset every freaking time..!! Really and truly the "Best Ever Food Review Show".
Love how Sunny's comments at 21:00 remind us he's based. Love Sunny's sense of humor and I love these documentary. "Best Ever" is no hyperbole lol
I love bats :c but this is amazing and im always so shocked with how respectful you are when it comes to eating these different animals, and the culture that surrounds them.
you love eating bats or just alive ones
That Institute of Virology line was brilliant 😂
He’s spot on when he said “when I come to these places I don’t feel bad for these ppl, they have a strong sense of community, in touch with nature etc etc” I say this bc governments will constantly say the reason there is so much crime and violence is bc of people being poor when in reality it is how the system is set up.
I love all the videos with Yia co-hosting. I hope I can eat his food one day.
Sunny got balls of steel posting this hahaha
Sonny so grossss
Batman is gonna be really pissed at you, Sonny. 😂
This show, platform and production now on another level and energy with food. It becomes very Enlightening, Spiritual and Emotional the way you present story's and culture to food and experience! Thank you Sonny and your Team, the humour, amazing authenticity along with food appreciation really inspires.. Chur and Respect from New Zealand, 🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
i love that they always say it's so tasty. it has msg which you can put in any food to enhance food taste.
I don't think anyone can review food like Sonny did. Love this guy. ❤
Last few lines, GOLDEN! No depression, mental illness, anxiety... They live with family, community sense, have time to bond, get exercise, connect and value their food!
This whole episode ❤❤❤❤so much respect!!! Humbleness.... everyone!!!!!! this is the secret ❤❤ ingredient... so much respect
I’m Lao/Thai and I met my Khmu friends here in NC never heard of it before then and they even have a whole different language/dialect. It was so interesting to me to hear it because for the most part I understand them but some words I don’t. The older I get the more I love learning about where my family came from considering I’m first generation in America. I love seeing his videos and how educational they are for me.
This series of Sonny being in Loas makes me wish that I experienced even more of Loas and of the food than I tried to cram in when I was their early last year. Such a beautiful country! Amazing food and culture. ❤
Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia was a war country, during war they hide in the jungle and they eat everything that they can catch. these food are very commons and become their traditional food there.
Always enjoy how you guys present the cultures you encounter 👍👍
Wow both of you have too much fun eating foods tour from Laos. Enjoy !
Covid-19 likes this video.
Sonny is da bomb! He’s a food enthusiast, culturalist and historian. What’s most impressive is his openness to try anything considered edible in order to challenge and expand his palate. 👊🇨🇦
I'm admiring the courage you have to try this food!
Best one so far, well done 👍
That voicecrack of Sonny after he tries the bat 😅

another great video, keep it coming guys
Wow.. what a great cultural heritage and unique of foods.
We all need to appreciate a country that will eat anything that moves 😋😋👏
Loving the Lebanon series on the other channel!
Sonny, because of this episode I went to the same Meung Feung market in October, but it was so rainy I could not find anything to eat! lol but the sceneries were awesome! Thanks so much for this experience!
Can’t wait to visit🙏🏾
THANK YOU for talking about the secret war in Cambodia and Laos, next to nobody in the US knows about what our government put these people through.
Sonny , as usual a great video showing all angles of the culture, their food and their history , broadening the horizons and understandings to our “ plastic processed food culture “ ! However , don’t drink the kool-aide when it comes to the origins of Covid-19 , it has been traced back to our military complex and very much a man made (lab) production, deep dive research bears this out ! Thanks again for your great show , big fan !!!
This show is my go to any day and time.
Didn’t expect to get teary eyed watching this.💕
This is awesome seeing the resources being used and working as a community something the US struggles with
To eat flying rodents, damn nasty
MY first reaction when I saw the Title. "Isnt this how covid started?"
Well, batman, too. Our own super vigilante
It did not start from bat soup. That's a racially charged conspiracy theory.
Sonny & Team.. u guys are amazing... from Indonesia with ❤. U put a lot of respect to other traditions, their way of life .
Many thanks as always for sharing these food adventures also culture, people's and stories very touching indeed..however food is love and can bring much unity that can spread across many places and time..travel well..much love..one love..respect..
