Playing With The Primer Bulb & Governor Return Spring On The Mower
Originally recorded May 6, 2024.
I need to get this old pig running properly. The primer bulb hasn't worked right since the first one broke. I took it all apart again, double checked absolutely everything, replaced the retainer ring with the old one in case there were differences between them in tolerance. The end result, instead of pressing the primer 3 times, it takes more like 20. That's no better or worse than before. I can live with that.
I bought a new governor return spring. Unfortunately, this spring was of such poor quality, and the guage of it so small, it wasn't going to even hold its shape, much less do it's job. I returned that and got my money back. Put the old spring back on, bent it as best I could. The engine still surges up and down, or hunts for proper idle. But after running for a few minutes, it smooths out. So now it's kind of like an old car that you need to warm up for a few minutes before it will run properly.
End result is that I'm no better or worse off than I was before. Good, I didn't break anything further.

Man if you lived closer I’d just give you one of my older craftsman’s. You should look for a used self propelled mower, total game changer, I’ll never go back to a push model
This one actually is self-propelled, and that does work.
@@jaykay18 My goodness I didn’t even notice.
Yeah you have pretty much done everything you could by this point. Time to get a divorce hun, and go green out of your wallet with an electric mower!
LOL! Yeah right. That’s what the government wants!
It's funny you mention that. Last September when I had the "Mow Of Shame", I have to say, that thing will run as long as there's power. That's a very handy backup. Oh China?????
