    • Completely agree, Miguel was such an underrated character throughout the series. Which I can understand considering the show is about Jack & Rebecca and the family they created. So I can see why he'd be cast aside as a background character a lot. But his love for Rebecca was so pure and beautiful. They truly loved one another. Rebecca was so lucky to have had two amazingly wonderful husbands that loved her fully until their last breaths.

    • Miguel definitely got robbed in the train scene. He was such a devoted husband and extremely patient with the big 3 who took so long to truly accept him. He deserved more than a few seconds with Rebecca at the end.

  • The show at the beginning and the middle would have you believe that Jack was the main character. But the end reveals that it was Rebecca this whole time, and that this is her story. She lost a child, and her husband devastatingly, she raised her kids during the worst period of all of their lives, she knew about Randall's birth father all along, she found love again with Miguel, she got to be there to see all her children find love get married and start their own beautiful families, and she got to be there when her late husband's brother was finally redeemed. She saw it all, she got to be there for it all, and then was finally put to rest❤ RIP Rebecca!

  • The single line that I'm pretty sure made me cry the most in this whole series is in the episode when Jack's mom dies. When he finally has his emotional breakdown and he looks at Rebecca and says I don't have a mom anymore. I've said that exact sentence out of my mouth the first mother's day after my mom passed. Its a blink and miss it detail for some people but for me it was relatable and heavy.

    • It was so cleansing- a deeply personal and truly spiritual baptism and rebirth- how he screams in the river and releases all the shame, pain, confusion, and anxiety he'd been tortured by his whole life. Just like his great aunt taught his mother, and she taught Randall (through Hai.) It goes to show you that sharing love, and soul freedom with someone is always worth it, at any time- and it just might come around full circle one day, somehow, even after we have passed away.❤

  • The scene that made me tear up the most was when the kids told Miguel they love him and appreciate everything he’s done for Rebecca. Kevin didn’t say it but he traveled to his son’s house to tell him Miguel doesn’t have much time and to not let things rest. I know Kevin acted like a rude, humongous immature little man-baby towards Miguel for years and I was happy Rebecca quietly put him in his place before naming Kate her caretaker. Miguel was nothing but good to Rebecca and the family even if they weren’t 100% welcoming.

  • The trains symbolism was wonderful for me. The conductor was a depiction of death. Whom would do all they could to help the soul be ready before they go. the people as they spoke appearing was them giving their peace as she can feel it. every door closes getting her closer to her inner peace. As the last door opened for her to sleep? it was her final rest so she could be given her peace.

  • I've watched This is us as a form of therapy. Not knowing my birth father makes me very vulnerable to stories like Randall's. When I knew that Jack's death was coming soon I had to stop watching for a few months and I kept this approach for the rest of the series. I made months long breaks so I had time to process everything that was going on in this family and in myself. I am forever grateful to the whole This is us-Team, from the writers to the actors. But to no one am I so grateful as I am to Sterling K. Brown who touched me deeply in every appearance. So him telling his mom to say "hey" to Jack and she doing it made me tear up. I cried in every episode of 6 seasons. This is us is a masterpiece from beginning to end.

    @ViniciusSC10@ViniciusSC10 Жыл бұрын
    • I think what made that scene so beautiful is how imperfect it all was. Jack wasn't a good golfer himself, and Randall wasn't either, at first. But remembering the vote of confidence that Jack gave him as a kid allowed Randall to relax and learn from the political contemporary who taught him how to golf as an adult. Sometimes we might think we've failed at teaching our kids certain things... but maybe we haven't.

    • Same! I watched this video a month ago and didn't think I'd be engaged in it. Only to find myself bawling my eyes out at the death of a character I had never even watched before. I've since binged the entire series in the matter of a few weeks. The #1 spot on this list hit me the hardest. Gut-wrenching, but beautiful. Which is exactly how I'd describe the series in general, but specifically that penultimate episode. If you haven't watched it, it's worth watching.

  • I’m ugly crying right now just remembering it all… this show really plays with your feelings but somehow always leaves you with the heart full of love for them. None of them are perfect, they all have their struggles and their demons, but it’s exactly why they come across as so real and you can relate to them and love them. (BTW, I love you all, specially Jack, Kevin, Toby, Beth, Rebecca… shit, I can’t choose. But I specially love the writers who brought them into my life, directors, producers and all the actors who made such an amazing AMAZING job)

  • Four months late, but Eight times out of ten, this show did not make me cry as it did with sooo many other people. However, there were two or three times it broke me. I don't know if I'm emotionally stronger or just not very empathetic. I took care of my mom with my family's help for about 15 years, so this show hit close to home at times. I remember one night I was having was bad, so I watched the show and broke down sobbing when we found out Deja grew up to be a social worker and adopted out that little boy, and that her dad was still there for her and so proud. (Randall was far from my favorite character, so that says a lot.) It took me months to get to the last three episodes of the series, because in the middle of all that, my mom had passed and I'd went through the grieving process, so I knew it was going to hit me hard. Cried like a baby, but now I can't remember which parts specificially, just a lot of Rebecca dying and seeing her kids at different points on the train. (I don't like Kate, but I was disappointed we didn't get to see her and her child selves on the train.) I knew of Justin Hartley from his Green Arrow on Smallville days, and I remember Milo playing Peter Petrelli on heroes. Milo gave me daddy issues (Sorry, he's hot!) and Justin freaking bulked up, omg! He's a super snack now and I'm proud of him for being so famous now. Drooling over both of them on the show and that's probably weird, but they're playing fictional characters. Waiting for them to hit their next big break, hope it is very soon. Maybe this time, they'll actually get to act together!! Also, Mandy Moore is great, I was into her CD's as a teenager. She's like the only actress I really enjoy, the rest are hot men. Glad Hollywood didn't destroy her like with other women.

  • One of (so many) scene I was crying is when Deja apologized to Randall in the car after she ran away the night before, and she said that Randall is her only dad. Actually, I was crying over many scenes of 'Dad moments with their daughters' in this show because I didn't had a close relationship to my father.

  • The thing I hated about the end of the series is that they basically erased the connection Rebecca had with Miguel. Once she died, she reunited with Jack (I'm assuming to spend her eternity with him), and where does that leave Miguel? Back with his first wife, who it didn't work out with?

    • I get you. Its the same thing writers did with Jack and Rose in Titanic. Rose married someone else after Jack's passing.

    • Plus, I'd argue, Rebecca's marriage to Miguel was one of true love. Jack is impulsive and destroyed Rebecca's chances of reigniting her singing career. Miguel was supportive and stood up for Rebecca when his kids were unkind. And dealt calmly with the Pearson kids. They lifted each other up.

      @pigpjs@pigpjs Жыл бұрын
    • I get where you coming from... but honestly I really wanted them to reunite (Jack and Bec). The entire story was about them after all, their union led to "This is us". Even Miguel knew that in as much as he is loved and he loves Rebecca, it has always been Jack.

  • I just finished this series on Netflix today, Super Bowl Sunday 2024. I CANNOT stop crying. What a wonderfully written and acted story. Its made me feel so alone. All I ever wanted as a kid was a big happy family when I grew up. My mother had terrible mental illness and my dad was a womanizer and alcoholic, bit of a rage thing too, so yes, some domestic violence there. I got out as soon as I could but didn't realize that's what I was doing, even went so far as to go to another country. Had a bad marriage that ended in divorce, 2 beautiful daughters but sadly, one suicide. I have failed every single big thing in my life, every relationship. I'm older now and feel so alone. I've never gone back in 48 years. So, a warning about watching this if you are alone. Its just made me feel like I'm living each day, same as the one before with no real meaning because its the people in your life that make it something worth living.
