10 Most Efficient Family Airplanes
For pilots with growing families, a six-seat airplane can make perfect sense, you’ll be able to carry almost everything you need, and fly a little faster, higher, and farther at the lowest possible cost. A six-seat airplane whether a piston single or twin, a turboprop, or a light jet offers exceptional value. This video is not about family airplanes with the lowest fuel consumption, in no order, this video contains top 10 family airplanes that offer the best possible performance with the least amount of fuel consumption.

I think a Cessna 150 is a great family airplane... assuming its just you and your cat.
Dam right about that
Lol good one
😂😂
No fuel is allowed with cat.
For me, it’d need to be a hamster. A small one.
Great video! Thanks for the vid! I am thinking about moving from my Lancair to a larger plane in the future and this helped!! Keep it up!😎😎😎😎😎😎
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait for the DA 52 RG
Us too!
Well done video, good narrative, informative with the right data. Thank you.
I'm doing research for some creative writing and I'm so glad I found this video. Thanks for making!
Seems that you missed the PA-32 family (Cherokee 6, Lance, Saratoga line). I can carry six, but most often carry 4 people with four sets of 170 - 180 cm skis, boots, and winter gear for ski trips, or golf clubs during the summer. Club seating in the rear and a massive cargo door. Best of all, it is a single engine so maintenance / operational costs are reasonable and you can pick one up for a descent price. Recognize you are looking at aircraft currently being produced, but for many of us with families that want to fly, a current production aircraft isn't in-the-cards.
Yes... I only considered airplanes that are still in production
@@Dwaynesaviation Pilatus ?
A descent price, as opposed to an ascending one?
@@Dwaynesaviation Why did you only consider aircraft currently in production? The vast majority of airplane sales are used aircraft.
A Cherokee 6 is certainly a good value, and still a decent performer
Very interesting thank you for all the information !
Great research, excellent format. --- Thanks for the upload. ---
Thank you very much Lance
I concur...my first choice would also be the Diamond DA 50 CD 300. Wow, what a plane. And the demonstrator in that blue paint scheme is fantastic.
Excellent stuff bro
Great vídeo congrats Also Nice back soundtrack
That was a beautiful video. These airplanes are gorgeous. I love your narration. Love the voice over. Love the editing.

Loved the video.
I'm very happy and grateful you will be paying for all of this. Congratulations!
Very detailed video
Thank you for sharing! Not going to buy a cheap aurcraft and can not afford one that has high degree of safety record. ( does not matter whose fault, need a "close to fool" proof aircraft!! ) Thanks again Dwayne!
Do you have any info on pipers m500 and m600
and how many of these planes are affordable by the average GA Pilot? Family Planes...no one I know.
The Millennium Falcon. 😆✌️
Give me a Piper Aztec. That is the true Suburban of the air. If you can fit it in it will carry it. There is also the Cherokee 6. Their cheap in price and they are available in any configuration imaginable.
Agree. I have a turbo Aztruck and I love it.
Dang right. Big fan of the Aztec!
Why did I start clicking on airplane videos? My god I need to start playing Powerball. 😂
I like the da62 ! The disgn is a 💯
13:55 Daher TBM 940 in GTA V is the Velum and I love this plane ✈️
Awesome planes , the Diamonds aren't all that attractive to my eyes, but they are supposedly fantastic performance values. The JMB VL3 Evolution would fit into this I think, unless I missed it, + it comes with great stall recovery manors.
Diamond is owned by Chy-nah now, though Austrian genes are fantastic, I wouldn't want one for empowering their military with the profits and development support
My favorite would have to be the cirus vision jet, mainly because the 350 mph. Not to mention the sleek look it has.
I don’t understand why the Pilatus PC-12 isn’t on this list??? It is the ultimate suburban of the sky! And it is a very fuel efficient single turboprop. If you are going to put the TBM on your list then you really need to have the PC-12 also.
It has more than 6 seats though. Way more expensive too. Not really a "family" plane.
I was gonna say the same thing... I love PC-12 NGX even it's a 5 million dollars single turboprop plane with 1,803 nm range plus lavatory in it.
These days insurance is so stringent I was told that a pc-12 (and I assume the same for a TBM) requires a professional pilot, not just dad with a commercial license, so yes these aren't really family planes.
@@placidbeach Relatively speaking, it's probably cheaper to be that "professional pilot" if the definition means 1,500hrs or so PIC (dad will prob have that anyway) and ATP (not exactly hard to pick up). Have the wife get her ratings too, especially for the aircraft requiring a Type.
@@likeawhispr actually the guy I asked about it clarified he meant like a literal full-time pilot. Otherwise that's good news! It's still good news, I didn't realize that about the ATP.
Don't let the comments about your voice over work get you down. With continued effort you will improve your English speaking ability. If you are passionate about making videos you should continue to do so.
Thank you very much Joey
Didnt even notice any issue with his English...didnt even notice an accent until I read your comment n really focused on his voice
@@daviejay5326 Same. I actually understood this perfectly so ignore the hate comments
I am just so pissed about all the haters saying he has a bad english. It’s sharp, infos are correct and it’s a hard work the montage. Nice work man !
@@Dwaynesaviation Your English is fine mate. Great content, you showed me some planes I was unaware of. Keep up the good work!
Good idea, if beside voice of narrator there is also a written one in bottom of photo.and video.
SHALOM BROTHER. I LOVE YOUR VOICE OVER. WELL DONE.
🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
Bonanzas don’t cone with TKS. It can be had in the aftermarket, but not from the factory. Barons aren’t turbocharged. At least not in this century.
Adding subtitles with technical data would greatly increase the value of this video. Just reading text with a lot of data is not a good solution.
Yeah, I agree, I was searching at times trying to figure out what he was saying , not all the time, but from time to time..
I liked the video.
That’s a good analogy comparing C 206 to large SUVs. DA 62 is a nice new twin but the cost is too high to justify it. At 1.2 Million you can get a nice clean used Citation Jets.
After all COVID experiments, the situation had changed. Citations for 1,2 - is very difficult to find in good condition. Because they are able to make long-range(about 2000 nm) flights, they became popular again, among little companies and pilots.
There's more to just fuel when owning am aircraft. Check for insurance premiums and maintenance
It seems like it got less efficient over time, not more. I don't Have a license so maybe I'm not understanding.. but saving a dollar per hour here or there amd having leather does not really make up for paying an extra million on the initial purchase does it? Is this like a long term leasing option where you use the thing for a few hours per month, or is it just a favorites list? Im trying to understand the industry with only a single cell layer skin deep understanding
Where do we buy these privet aircraft
Where is Cesna 421C?
Beechcraft Bonanza - my dream
verygood😃😃😃👍👍
2 RV-10 can fit the bill.
Sí fuera posible enviar él vídeo actual en idioma Español Gracias.
The Best family aircraft that I would buy would be a TBM or Cessna Caravan
What's the name of your theme music?
Diamond DA62 a 6 to 7 pax twin piston burning Jet A-1 and easier to flight than a single is unbeatable.
Maybe if they finally give it counter rotating props
@@SkyBiscoff you have a point but it appears that the three computers controlling the whole thing compensate it.
@@Santos.Sarmento I seriously hope they do a better job than the 4 on the DA-42NG i fly that for a living and have had more ECU failures than I care to count. Plus computers do nothing for the horrendous Left turning tendencies that airplane has
@@SkyBiscoff I never experimented them personally so I’m just writing about others opinions and never heard about problems with the ECU (but didn’t made a deep research on it either). Good to know yours, gave me reason to learn better. Thanks.
Not really a 5 or 7 pax aircraft. Just because there is that many seats doesn’t mean you can fill them.
A broke man here watching planes🤣
Hard to overlook Cirrus aircrafts with their CAPS parachute safety systems
15:39 - Announcer says that it's a Diamond DA-50 (which it is), but the label says that it's a Vision Jet!
My bad 😂😂😂😂... Nobody else caught that, except you .... You're smart
permeable
Seems like you left Service Ceiling out of your data. Crucial information for anyone planning a cross country trip.
You said that the FA50 burns 9 gallons per hour, and with a JetA cost of $/gallon, fuel cost is $36/gallon. You meant to say $36/hour.
The not-needed music competes with the dialogue.
i think the best its the cessna 150 or cirrus sr22
The most efficient family airplane is Cessna Conquest II !!!
Pilates PC-12 NGX, is the best all around value for comfort, speed, operating / maintenance costs, fuel consumption
5 million USD price tag and near 3 dollar per nautical mile DOC doesn't really seem that "value"
The cirrus vision jet its my favorite
And if a bird gets sucked into the jet, then what?
@@MrJohnnyDistortion then your SOL, just use the CAPS system. With an engine mounted there and its small opening i doubt it will have a bird strike, probably a 1% chance of it happening.
@@AhmadAlAjeel CAPS system?
@@MrJohnnyDistortion Yes its like a parachute deployment system on the cirrus vision jet
@@AhmadAlAjeel Thanks. I'm new to aviation and learning.
You should include used aircraft....
For someone who doesn’t know what they want I would recommend the cessna 206. It’s probably the best price for the amount of plane you get and the maintenance won’t make you cry like owning turbine does.
Good choice. Cessna is really - the first step. But my experience differs. I can recommend Beechcraft Bonanza.
You can't avoid mentioning take off distance and whether pressurized. Also an Infograph for each one and comparative, at the end. Otherwise good. Thx
I like the cirrus
I started getting my license to take my family of 5 places. I drive truck for a living. I make 65k gross a year. Im finding there is absolutely no way i could afford my own plane. Flying is only for the rich.
@5:30 A radio controlled model airplane.?...you could not find a photo of a real G36?
Fuel Price are at a all high and the older Models Skyhawks with the 145 Continental engine is the way to go now
I'm more a fan of the early '70's Skyhawks with the Lycoming 0-320-E2D engines. That low-compression, 150-horse 4-cylinder is darn near bulletproof. Lower maintenance and higher TBO than the 6-cylinder Continentals.
What about the PA30 twin comanche?
It looks like he limited himself to models still in production...
LOL RC plane @5:40 ROFL!!!
What about the Saab 340
I flow many twin on the past, the queen is the Beech Baron 58P!!!
Is great vidyo. Voice over man had awesome good time in United States of USA!!! I meet soo many womens and have so many drink.
No mention of “useful load”?! Useful Load has specific definition in aviation. Some of these planes can not make the range distance he narrates with a “family”. We’ll, if dad is a jockey, mom is a gymnast, and the only child is still an infant then maybe. But that maybe means the only luggage is a plastic bag with one change of underwear for everybody. The weight of the fuel needed to make the stated ranges takes up a significant amount of useful load and in some cases not much useful load remains for carrying anything that distance. Over the decades many people have been killed because pilots behaved like the number of seats were some indication of how much they can put in a plane. Neither max gross weight rating or number of seats tells you anything about how much a plane can carry. Only the Useful Load figure tells you. Some of these planes do not belong on a “family” plane list because of nearly useless Useful Load.
Piper malibu 💜
I was looking at getting a Cirrus SR22 but now thinking the Diamond DA62. Anyone have one?
look at lancair iv too
I would look at a flight school. they may have one you can try. My buddy flew them for his Multi and ATP training in Germany and loved it. I have yet to fly a Diamond but have sat in them and absolutely love the cockpit design. way better than any Cessna I fly.
Eclipse 550
Your hourly operating costs seem to only include fuel burn only what about maintenance and overhaul costs the King Air for example is in the $1000/ hr all in.
I said: hourly fuel cost, not hourly operating cost
Total costs are NOT in the average families budget I would bet.
Piper PA-34 Seneca
The twin Diamond "climes like a rocket at a little over 1,000fpm..." Rocket? I think I'd opt for a 450hp turbo prop conversion on a Cessna 206. The TBM (or PC12) would be my ultimate choice if I didn't absolutely need a twin.
Then your fuel burn goes from around 10gph to somewhere near 50 That adds up quick
@@Meowface. The fuel price is offset by how much the 206 can haul and by the increased safety margin and performance latitude of the turbine engine. People fly single engine over the Sierras and the ocean and large lakes all the time, but that's not something I'd recommend, especially if you're in business. Fuel cost isn't what I'd be bracing for with a turbine engine - it's the OTHER costs, like having to replace a turbine wheel or some mess. Today, when it comes to performing work - single engine turbine is hard to beat for a good work/profit ratio. Piston twin is just out of its league today. 2 thirds liability, worry, and poor performance and 1 third cheap to operate compared to turbine solutions.
Unrealistic choices for the average pilot looking for a plane to haul around family or friends. Lots of lower priced used planes out there that will accomplish the job.
TBM 940 all the way for that kind of money.
i always wanted to know what's the cheapest plane ... uncle Ahmed has been bugging me forever, can you make a video about how much jet fuel each can carry?
Hi
7:22 isn’t that an m600? I mean, it’s clearly a turboprop

Count to 200 out loud Max volume and try to excelarate you count as you goo.. and you will pronounce words 10 times better.
Nice video but I quit flying my family around in small planes after a few friends died. You either have the time to make the money to afford one of these or you have the time to stay current as a competent pilot. Few have both.
How did they die?
When a duck is speaking about aviation, we listen.
Why did you quote MPH, aircraft today use Knots
OK but you left your sound system running which makes it irritating to try and listen to the specs
I am glad the Kennedys had a drunk 12 year old available to narrate this video.
I thought the intro was an ad
So which is best for smuggling copious amounts of cocaine? I'm asking for a friend...

Blimps are better. Imagine sitting down together for a nice family dinner, while taking a slow trip from Gary, Indiana to Beijing.
Why usually these small planes have design like from 50s.
