  • For anyone wondering, that cactus is called a teddy bear cholla, which can be most efficiently removed using pliers or a comb. Its barbs have mini barbs on them that dig into the skin, so it’s like ripping off a really bad Band-Aid.

  • I pet a porcupine wildlife ambassador years ago, but I still remember how he felt. Surprisingly, their quills are not very sharp, and are only really dangerous when the poky mouse feels threatened. The best way I can describe it is a bunch of pin feathers on a molting bird, and how weird it feels.
