  • the house is lovely ❤I love the old doors with those beautiful frosted glass seperating the spaces. I think in the 70s 80s & 90s in Malaysia, Malay houses are decorated with lace items too. I remember our house had lace for table cloth, to cover the TV/radio/fridge/sewing machine, or just randomly placed on the head rest or hand rest of the sofa. lace everywhere! 😂 we don't use them anymore now, but we still keep some of them.

  • Lovely. Lived in Macedonia for years. This is what is different from Canada where I live now. All the pipes the water tanks etc. Are in plain view in Turkey. In North America there are no hot water heaters and every pipe etc. Is hidden through smart carpentry. You never see a pipe anywhere. Second of all....the Beautiful curtains all done by hand in Turkey hanging in the windows have been replaced in Canada in many cases with Venetian Blinds and then drapes. Third item. The bathrooms. Usually in a Canadian bathroom you will find bathtub..shower..sinks..bidet..the bathrooms are usually large. Love your home!

    • Our eastern countries are more unique & designed with deep n purest love & feelings. at least I think this way. & don’t blame me for it. because after more than 30 years, every time I see a picture or video I want to fly myself at that moment. I just want to go there I’m missing our traditional home & refresh my soul, brain and the semple n pure happiness we had. that unfortunately they took all from us. I can’t wait, that one day we can go there. & breath under its shining blue sky & the smell of it’s soil & grasses😔😞😒

    • Turks would rather die instead of giving up on their identity. That's why I'm disgusted when people say we are getting westernised. We are modernizing our country while making our culture and identity a part of it. The most important part is to keep us away from gettin westernised

  • There were similar curtains and formal living furniture in the U.S. in the last two generations. We have a less formal living area called the family room. Pipes are hidden in the wall and ceilings. I have never been in a home with glass in the interior doors, but sometimes at the main entries. There are no toilets in the floor here in my lifetime or that of my parents and grandparents. Very interesting glimpse of another lifestyle. Thank you.

  • What a lovely home! In the United States, we call the second living room where the family hangs out together, a family room. Also known as a den. This is where people gather to watch TV or to have conversations. Usually, the first living room is a more formal room where we entertain guests and maybe serve coffee or tea. :)

  • What a beautiful lovely house your grandmother has and what a spectacular view from the kitchen. I noticed that the pipes around the sink area are all exposed rather than behind the walls. Is this common in Turkish kitchens in the older homes? I love older homes as their craftsmanship is amazing. I was not aware that the Turkish remove their shoes inside the house; I thought that this was only practiced in Asia countries such as Japan, China, and Korea. Thanks for sharing your video.

In the states the second living room is known as the family room where the family gathers everyday, it is quit often found off of the kitchen area and away from the main entrance. Thanks for the tours of the homes.

Te voy a agradecer mucho tu ayuda. Gracias

The dining room had three doors and one was a pocket door. The dining room also had a fireplace and caste iron radiators. 👍 the pocket doors faced the living room. So that’s why they had two regular doors. Because the side door faced the steps to the upstairs on the side. Hope there’s no confusion in picturing my description.
