  • After travelling Round 12,000 miles from Australia I had the great pleasure of calling in at Fab Rats shack to pick up some merch and Grandma Lolly insisted we go in and meet the boys. They had the FJ up on the hoist mournfully looking at the damaged locker. Great bunch of blokes, and then to top it off we got to have a fabrats burger at Archies! Life doesn’t get much better than that!

Truck died as we coasted into a gas station on Rexburg. This was back when station attendants pumped your gas for you. The guy came out and said "could you pull a little closer to the pump?" A few days in the salt lake area and a couple days in Moab checking out Arches National Park. Y’all are lucky to live in such a beautiful state. I wanted so badly to come to the rat shack but just didn’t have the time so next time I am out there I am definitely scheduling the extra time to do that! Keep up the awesome content. I will keep watching. I’m not a fan of people in the comments slamming you guys about Matt. Whatever is going on there is your business and when you’re ready to talk about it then we will know. Until then just keep doing what you’re doing.

    • I'm so oooooooo happy Matt wasn't on this trip. He has got to be the most annoying of all the fab/trail/recovery channels. The man never stops talking. I still watch his channel, but I fast forward through most of the videos because he just talks and talks and talks and has to make sure he is on camera all the time. It has annoyed me to no end this past year. The good part about it is that I get to skip 90% of his videos because it's usually just him talking about how to properly screw in a bolt, or something common that always needs overexplaining(in his mind)

  • I did the exact same thing, on the same stretch of road, on my way back from my stint in the Army in Fort Riley Kansas back in '95! I miss calculated how much fuel I needed and how few gas stations were scattered across the dessert and I coasted 30-40 miles into a gas station just over the crest of a hill I barely made! I had no idea if there was a gas station on the other side and prayed I didn't have to leave my truck with all of my belongings on the side of the road and have to hoof it! I could not believe my insane bad and good luck all at the same time! Too bad I was by myself and had no one to share the experience with!!! Later that evening after it got dark, an insane person driving on the wrong side (my side) of the divided highway went out of his way to try and hit me head on! Luckily I avoided him and then spent the next few minutes cleaning my shorts! That was a crazy trip! Oh, and I got a speeding ticket in Northern Utah as well! Fun Times!

Snow & ice? No worries. Figured we should break it. We'll, didn't that unit plow thru bush. There were hills that were an epic challenge for dirt bikes. That ol' bug would just chug right up and ask for more. No brakes, tho, so pay attention on the way down.

Once you pull winch line, when done, wrap it around the stinger to save time unspooling next time. Saves at least 2 minutes. Yeah Rudy, thanks for taking time to help. • Fun fact about most modern Common Rail diesel engines, if you're in gear and rolling down hill (no accelerator), they will shut off fuel to the cylinders as long as your rolling maintains a high enough RPM, while in neutral it will have to supply enough fuel to maintain the idle RPM. So if you can coast in top gear, it will be more fuel efficient to stay in gear rather than put it in neutral.

  • Fascinating sport and a great team building activity. Best of all you guys are good stewards of the land. Pick up trash and stay on the trail, so we can all enjoy the rugged landscape brought to us through your camera lens. Thank you.

  • Brilliant video, really good friends and brilliant content. I am not totally green when it comes to vehicles and engines, but what I do find astonishing is the amount of torque those shafts take before breaking is truly amazing. A heavy vehicle, huge wheels and tyres and climbing boulders, truly amazing and no surprise they snap, or like when a drive shaft screws themselves to destruction. If I were a young guy I'd look to build something like Pauls wrecker and use lorry axles or military vehicle axles. Mind I'm guessing they would weigh more that the whole wrecker.

  • Great video. Maybe you need to get a 5 Gal can for just this short of problems. That Trail looked like it was a killer. Stay safe and have fun.
