This release finds HELM exploring slow dirge-like lower register tonality that breeds unease in the listener. At times, the music seems more akin to the more metal side of grunge than modern black metal, certainly a welcome sonic novelty. The vocals manifest themselves in mad, diabolical, distorted mutterings that further add to the unease of this release. HELM has deftly crafted a soundtrack for a pensive and wary exploration of either metaphorical or literal darkened spaces.“
