What are the best foods for your brain? What you eat matters, especially for your gray matter.
And who better to have this discussion with than Dr. Lisa Mosconi? She’s the author of an incredible book called, Brain Food, a must-read for anyone interested in having a healthy and powerful brain.
Dr. Mosconi holds a Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience and Nuclear Medicine and is a certified Integrative Nutritionist and holistic healthcare practitioner.
Her research is well known regarding the early detection of Alzheimer’s disease in at-risk individuals using brain imaging techniques such as positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). She is passionately interested in how the risk of memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease can be mitigated, if not prevented through the combination of appropriate medical care and lifestyle modifications involving diet, nutrition, physical and intellectual fitness.
In this episode, we’re taking you to the kitchen and sharing with you foods you can eat right now to boost your brain health and the foods you should avoid.

  • Summery: Warm water (not hot) Flax seeds for us vegans (or fish eggs), mix with water (but to get omega 3 you need suppliment from sea plants, flax seeds does not give enough) Fish, but olive oil, algy oil and almonds for vegans. Almonds, hazel nuts Avocado Blackberries Broccolli and alot of vegetables Red wine (just a little), drink with food, not on an empty stomach, depending on the period cycle. Women need carbs. Men need fat. (This was my favorite aha-moment!) Coffee is dehydrating. Drink sensibly, not too much. Take a nap after a big dinner, don't keep eating. Don't eat late. Overnight fasting. Avoid: Processed food Margerine Fake cheese Baked goods Whipped cream (processed) Artificial substances Candy Meat Treat your brain like your best friend!

  • Listen to this and being quick I am making lunch before I walk. 5mins to prepare. Broccoli and cauliflower into the steamer and a handful of broad beans in there too. I’ve eaten a few almonds before it cooks and that will keep me going till I have dinner later. My brain food quick mousse is as follows. Half small avocado a small banana handful of spinach some nut milk cacao powder a date or two. A scoop of kelp a teaspoon of ground flax seeds a teaspoon of chia seeds and a handful of berries. Whiz it up in a blender and serve. If I take any supplements I do it with this meal. It’s delicious and sorts out any chocolate cravings. Jim you have a very listenable voice and you ask such good questions. Thank you.

    • Hi there, I would recommend to opt for an organic vegan diet (preferably raw if you can) due to disease on the rise in animals, as well as radiation and mercury in the seas affecting fish like wild salmon (radiation) and tuna (mercury). Fish farmed salmon is to be avoided too due to the use of GMO feed and may not provide Omega 3 Fatty Acids which is obtain from algae by wild salmon in the seas, i believe. You can opt for organic walnuts and pecans that look like the brain and target the brain (Contains brain targeting nutrients e.g Omega 3 Fatty Acids); as well as organic cabbage, cauliflower and berries. Moreover, try and incorporate it with plenty of pure, clean water to hydrate brain cells (avoiding artficial flouridated water due to the negative impact flouride can have on the brain - i believe), as well as drink colloidal silver and gold (avoid purchasing colloidal gold from a different country as it may deplete in quality during transportation, from gathered information). Furthermore, aim to obtain fresh air as much as possible including sleeping with a window open and allowing it to circulate in your room freely as it gives clarity of mind, improves concentration and enhances learning abilities, i believe. It also gives a sense of happiness and well-being by altering brain levels of serotonin; and induces sound sleep. Best wishes 💙💙💙

  • My favorite brain foods from this video are salmon, fish roe (the bigger the better!), blackberries (so yum), and the almonds she mentions. 👍 I noticed however, she didn't go into the delicious looking juices on the counter in the video. I've been experimenting with our electric juicer since our move out west, to increase my nutritional content in a readily available form I can enjoy quickly to hydrate & digest (I have gastroparesis). What veggies would you recommend for my superbrain training? Thank you for sharing Jim & Lisa! I'm looking forward to learning more about increasing my cognitive "super powers" with you. 😊🙌

  • I found this information very interesting and helpful, I've never thought about your brain and diet, I do healthy though, I don't eat anything processed or from a can and I eat a lot of flax seeds and chia in my smoothie I never realized how much that was doing for me, as someone who used to do everything wrong and I weighed over 300 pounds changing the way I ate changed everything. Thank you I subscribed and will be watching more of your videos. My grandfather died of alheimerz so this really was an eye opener. Thank you

    • Have less chia seed because it’s high inflammation stick with flaxseed but consume in powder form. Try out cottage cheese with a pinch of organic salt with flaxseed powder with additional fruits & nuts if u want add something sweet by adding honey or some jam into it just like you eating yogurt. By eating this will help you cleansing your colon when your gut is healthy your brain also healthy.

    • @@tangvanle Thanks for quick reply, where should I get organic sea salt , is there a good brand I'm using celtic sea salt but it doesn't say organic. And about Flax I'm taking organic flaxseed oil is it as good as seeds ? Appreciate your take on it 🙏

    • @@moniryousefian8782 celtic sea salt also ok but a bit salty just add a little. About the flaxseed buy in a seed form grind few tablespoons put into a small glass jar for use & it’s best taken in powder form because we need it fibre to cleanse the intestine. Remember to freeze the flaxseed both the powder & the seed.

  • Hello, I was most surprised as to the percentage of H2O, that affects your brain function, as well as the percentage of saturated foods, and dementia. Thank you so much, for the education. I have been following you Jim, a little over a year now, when I first came across your video, while searching, how to improve my retention and learn better and faster, as I noticed a big negative change, in my late fiftees, and I didn't like it, and have been doing your exercises to change and improve my retention and learning capacity, and I'm for ever grateful, to you. However I had never heard of Dr. Mosconi, and now, I'm going to purchase the book, and buy it for each of my kids. Thank You Dr. Mosconi, for all the education, I'll now follow you as well.
