Can't wait to see your report from Africa! I'm taking the a1 to Tanzania in June 2023 and still trying to decide on lens combination because of baggage restrictions...
I read of that eMount to Z adapters in a Z9 Facebook group. Seems they work extremely good.
I’m glad Z9 is doing very well. Great for Nikon users but I can’t imagine why I would buy Z9 instead of another A1.
I've seen a lot of people on forums interested in the A7iv + 200-600 "inexpensive" combo for wildlife, wondering if it's any good and how to set it up, so I think your guide will be very popular!
yes me too!!
If any photographer is worthy of a trip to Africa, it’s def you. Awesome stuff as always.
Excellent Mark! Always look forward to your posts and stories! It would have been a wonderful experience!
Awesome! Im looking forward to both the Z9 with sony 200-600 and the a7iv videos. Im on the verge of selling my 500pf but can't decide what to put in its place...and the sony 200-600 either adapted to Z or switching to A7iv has been a thought. I think a tremendous amount of nikon wildlife photographers are eagerly but impatiently awaiting the Z 200-600... if nikon doesn't put that lens out soon (and a competitive prosumer body that can match the R5/A7iv), many will be buying the sony 200-600 and adapting it or just leave nikon altogether, like so many already have.
I have been using the exact setup for the past month, My Z9 with the Sony 200-600 works excellent.
Aww man I’m excited to see some Africa footage. As for the adapters, I know a lot of people who use those adapters for Fuji cameras and love it. I’m sure that adapter will be great with a very mild hit to the performance.
Great just got the Sony A74 and 200-600. Looking forward to the guide. Loving the results so far but I feel I am not maximising it.
Hi Mark, Incredible news! I look forward to your presentation on your trip to Southern Africa.... (I believe mana pools in Zimbabwe). A very exciting trip I'm sure!! I shall be visiting around Kruger national park in September using the Sony a7riv/a9ii together with the fe200 - 600 g / fe 70 - 200gm ii. Your videos are always so appreciated!!!
Great updates, and cool Z9 / Sony lens setup! Looking forward to elephant pics / video 🙂🐘
I hope you will test the Z9 with firmware 2.1 using a Nikkor Z lens. Thank you.
Would love to know thoughts on Nikon glass on a Sony A1 adapter.
Very excited to hear about your trip brother. Stay well.
Sounds like it was a really good trip and I'm looking forward to hearing about all of it when you get the chance.
Welcome back :) Looking forward to hearing more about the Megadap doohickey - hope it works better than the Techart TZE-01.
look forward to more Africa images and the A7IV review. Cheers Mark.
Welcome back. I am so pleased that it sounds like you had a great time in Africa. What did I tell you?... "Ellies on their hind legs" - That sounds like Mana Pools? Did you meet up with Strech Fereira there? On your next rip here, I can show you the rhino's that you missed ... Right here in our reserve 😉 Have signed up to your U Tubne channel. Best regards Tim.
Thanks for signing up and yes it was mana pools and yes we met Stretch several times. He walks right up to lions. Interesting fellow for sure. He was super nice!! I definitely need to plan a trip to your area!!
Welcome back! I really want to hear about that adapter (with hopes they have one for Canon glass). Also, beware the osprey with that mini pro 3 - they'll snatch that right out of the air if you get near enough (might be a great shot if you're recording to the remote unit though!)
Thanks for the heads up on the Osprey!!!
Awesome on a74 guide, my wife will love that (don’t mention a1 in it) 😂😂😂
Lol ok
Hi Mark. Did you manage to do a setup guide for the sony a7iv camera.
Overly anxiously waiting
The most professional people are also the onces that are the most down to earth and normal
Mark~yeeah- superb edition-see you later,
Any updates on your setup for the Sony A7IV. Great video's love the channel.
Looking forward to your Africa content. I have seen other videos using the Nikon to Sony adaptor, but they left me skeptical for action. Looking forward to your thoughts.
As long as you have the adaptor, try the 600 f4 on the Z9 as well. It may be a while before Nikon puts out a 600 f4. My fear would be that once Nikon produces their own equivalent lenses, would they do something to prevent the Megadap from working.
I couldn' wait for your test of the nikon z9 -Megadap ETZ21-Sony 200-600 G combo. So I decided to order the Megadap adapter and the Sony 200-600 G lens. So far I'm pleased with the result. The autofocus is fast and most of the shots are sharp. The only thing is that I'm not sure how the Optical Steady Shot works/or should be activated. Maybe you have some good advises in your test video.
I am in the same boat, got the adapter and borrowed the 200-600mm to try on my Z6: at first I thought it behaved like a native lens, loved the ergonomics, great results. But doing a side by side test with my D7200/300mm f/4 and AF acquisition now looks sluggish and like you I am not sure the Stabilisation actually works at all with the SL electronic shutter … maybe the rental from my second trial was a dud?
I tested to activate the IBIS (InternalBodyImageStabilisation). It was possible by turning off the Optical Steady Shot on the lens. I will test it more when the weather gets better.
Hi Mark - Hope all is well. What insurance do you have for your camera gears for drop and spill and for stolen/theft when you travel internationally?
Thanks!
Hi Mark, welcome back!. I really appreciate your work and LOVE your videos. Recently I started to film wildlife videos with the Sony a1 and the 200-600mm - its a wonderful setup with one big problem: its overheat fast, especially when the ambient temperatures are high (in 4k 120p and 4k 60p) . I wonder if the z9 also overheat as fast as the A1 ? and how do you find the z9 as a video rig compared to the A1 ?
Joined the club, anyone who’s has been helped like you’ve helped me should join!!!
Thanks
Can’t wait!!!!
Hello. How's everything with you? Where did you purchase the Megadap ETZ21. How long does it take? Thanks.
Soo cool videos themes omg I'm very very interested!!
Nice. Sounds like you were over there for awhile.

@@MarkSmithphotography Nice. If would of guessed, 2-1/2 to 3 weeks with all you experienced. Good stuff.
@@thomastuorto9929 got very very lucky!!!
@@MarkSmithphotography Most always plays a part in outdoor photography. Wildlife, Landscape & Nature.
always amazed of how much you´ve going on and keeps in orginized, can´t wait to see more of the africa trip!
What adapter on that z9 u have to use sony lens ,
I am more interested in the combo of Sony a1 + Nikon Z lens, b/c a1 still works better than z9 in focus, while Nikon will have better telephoto lenses than Sony in the future, right now Nikon already has 800F6.3 and 400F4.5 that Sony never has, and 200-600 as well as 600F4 with x1.4TC are also in Nikon's roadmap.
Hi Mark, could you share the reference of the adapter Sony->Nikon? I’m very curious to hear from you about your experience with the Z9/Sony 200-600.
Did you find the A7iv to be any good for wildlife? look forward to your in depth review!
Of course
@@MarkSmithphotography between that and a used a9 would you still opt for the 9?
@@rachelintherockies for stills only?
@@MarkSmithphotography yes. only stills but both wildlife and landscape. am quite torn between the two..
@@rachelintherockies a7iv. More megapixels for landscape and better dynamic range I think.
Most importantly, did you see an African Fish Eagle?!
Yes I did and they are huge just like everything else in Africa!
Sony A7IV Setup Guide
Funny... while I was working on a video I herd a very loud and long rumble! That must have been when the elephant 🐘 farted. I know it wasn't me!
That’s it!!
Lens"e"
Lenses
Lens... not "lense".
Supposed to be lenses
Do elephant farts smell like other animals' farts? For science.🤔😂
It was odorless as far as I could tell but it was loud and very very long!!! Elephants are marathon farters I guess!
YOU DIDNT EVEN SAY NIKON ONCE WTF
Z9 is Nikon.
Haha let me explain. I was arguing with someone about how to pronounce nikon, so we typed “nikon” in to youtube and clicked the first result which was your video. We watched the entire thing eagerly waiting for you to say the word Nikon and when by the end you hadnt said it a single time we were dying of laughter and left this comment. Sorry about that 😅
