For more information about sponsoring a nest box for the upcoming breeding season, please visit www.BirdEndowment.org.
Donations are welcome and provide vital long-term support for the Nido Adoptivo™ nest box program, as well as habitat conservation and reserve management to help save the Blue-throated Macaw and the vital ecosystem in which it lives.
To honor Laney Rickman’s legacy, her family, the Bird Endowment, Asociación Armonía, and American Bird Conservancy established the “Laney Rickman Blue-throated Macaw Fund” in September 2017. Dorothy (Laney’s sister) and Audrey Paterson (Laney’s niece) have been leading the fundraising efforts for this special Fund to continue Laney’s amazing work protecting the Blue-throated Macaws of Bolivia. Through the generosity and support of an incredible number of people, more than 235,000 USD has raised to date.
This Fund, managed by the American Bird Conservancy, is of critical importance to assure reserve sustainability: abcbirds.org/rickman-fund/. Disbursements of the investment income of the Fund will provide an important part of the Reserve’s annual protection costs.
See Armonia's website (armoniabolivia.org/wildlife-an..., for information on visiting Barba Azul Nature Reserve, home to the northwestern sub-population of Blue-throated Macaws and other Beni Savanna bird species, as well as Giant Anteaters, Maned Wolves, Howler Monkeys, and more.

  • Ok this is exactly what I wanted to start doing where I grow up in the hinterlands i live in Guyana and I grow up in region 6 and at my grandmother's farm a flock of red shoulder makah live there but recently my mom wanted to cut down some trees cause it's hard to see the cows some times and people steel them and we dont get to see the cows so I started putting up some nesting box but these nesting box I made them just by making a holes in would that we cut down and put them up back and surprisingly I recently took a baby owl out of his nest and I never saw the mother again the small owls that dont grow big and she took the nest so I ahve to put up some more but I dont really like hights😁and recently I purchased a pare of budgies and when I Googled it that if you cut a budgies wings if they'd still mate turns out that not entirely thru they mated the next day in my room on the floor😑 and I think they accidentally sold me an young adult Male the female is very young she started flying 3 days before I got them so hope shes a good mother or I'm going to have to rase them and that can be really fun i like raising baby parrots and how i feed my parrots that ah I had 4 red shoulder makah and I fed them buy mouth my family ddint agree but who cares they my abby's I was 14 then I'm 17 now they passed away dont not how honestly I traveled alot and often left them at home or sometimes took them all

  • If no human intervention is needed to save a chick that was that far behind in growth I don't think any human interventions is needed with boxes as I am sure the pairs will find other areas to nest.

    • Except with such habitat destruction caused by humans the large trees have been destroyed so finding a suitable tree hollow is next to impossible
