Listen to “Love Is Here To Stay” off Tony Bennett & Diana Krall’s new album ‘Love Is Here To Stay” HERE: Verve.lnk.to/LoveIsHereToStay
Official Music Video for "Love Is Here To Stay” An unprecedented union of the two greatest living jazz singers, ‘Love Is Here To Stay’ celebrates Gershwin’s 120th anniversary with a new recording of timeless American popular standards and jazz repertoire.
TONY:
The more I read the papers, the less I comprehend
The world and all its capers and how it soon will end.
DIANA:
Nothing seems to be lasting, but that isn’t our affair.
TONY:
We’ve got something permanent,
I mean in the way we care.
It's very clear
Our love is here to stay
Not for a year
But ever and a day
The radio and the telephone
And the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies
And in time may go
But, oh my dear
Our love is here to stay
Together we're going a long, long way
In time the Rockies may crumble
Gibraltar may tumble
They're only made of clay
But, our love is here to stay
DIANA:
It's very clear
Our love is here to stay
Not for a year
But ever and a day
The radio and the telephone
And the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies
And in time may go
TONY:
But, oh my dear
Our love is here to stay
Together we're going a long, long way
DIANA:
In time the Rockies may crumble
Gibraltar may tumble
They're only made of clay
BOTH:
BUT OUR LOVE IS HERE TO STAY

  • Tony B passed away 2 days ago, July 21, 2023, at 96.....I miss him already. I watched this video with Diana Krall 4 years ago and was so astounded by his performance I ordered the CD immediately and have listened to it everyday on my way to work. It sounds new and fresh Everytime. It was his time to return home as it will be for each of us someday, but I can't help but wish he could have stayed a few more years with us. See you up there, Tony🌟🕊💖

  • Do you hear his incredible voice? It's not possible but there it is! I'm shocked. He's from some other planet, right? He just went up a half step. He can STILL do anything he wants. So musical. I don't get it! He's like 90 here or something. -- MW, I love Diana's sultry sound. She's a jazz singer.

    • Love your comment, Steve Sanzari. That means you're old enough to remember when Hank Williams called Tony on the phone (they never met before Hank died at age 29) and said, of Tony's million selling COLD, COLD HEART -- Hank deadpanned, "Hey Tony, why are you ruining my song?" Tony loved to share that story and laugh at it again.

    • Thanks for your comment, David Caruso. When he played here in Winnipeg for an audience of a thousand, he put down the mic to sing a closing number -- and his voice filled our concert hall. I wasn't a part of the 'meet and greet' with Tony after the show, but spotting his Cadillac SUV ahead of me, heading a block away to our most important hotel, I followed and while my wife waited in the car, I spoke to him as he emerged with his daughter. I was holding my copy of his autobiography. "Mr. Bennett," I said, "I was at your show. That was not merely the best performance by an 83 year old -- that was the finest performance by anyone that I have ever seen." He kindly extended his hand (warm and . . . frail like a grandfather's) and inscribing my copy of his book, he told the young man accompanying him (who'd offered a big Sharpie pen) 'No . . . this deserves a better pen," and he reached into his breast pocket for his own fine-tipped pen: "To Mark, with thanks." My wife said when I got back into the car, "Let me shake the hand that shook his hand" (Tony's been her favorite great singer).

  • This is a great American pop song. (My very favorite.) The lyrics are both dated and timeless. The lyrics, by Ira Gershwin, are in the American vernacular of the late 1930s. The music composed by Ira's younger brother, George Gershwin. Written in 1937, it is the last song these two brothers collaborated before George passed from this life. It is one of the greatest declarations of Love of all time.
