People have negative opinions of Bowen, but I have to give credit where it's due. To come back from the most one-sided setups and unfair reffing, my hat is off to him.

  • I hope events in India aren't all reffed like that, because it'll get their athletes all used to competing with really weird grips, straps and so-on which is basically going to cripple their chances in any evens in the major tournaments elsewhere...can see Mazahir is used to basically gripping a thumbnail while forcing opponents into a Dad move. Dude is strong though and it was a decent match. Ryan's usual defensive position is weird, but clearly works. Would love to see these 2 under different rules - would be a great match anywhere I have no doubt.

  • Few observations! Ryan tried a toproll intially and understood that Mazahir's toproll is better. While both were toprolling, both were on each other's knuckles and both were okay with it. Noone complained. From the second round Ryan was smart enough not to try toproll and gripped Mazahir Low and loose. He surely has better side pressure which earned him a win. Third round he again tried to use a higher grip which surely didn't work in his favour. He said he would wanted a tighter strap which may not have made a difference if he was gripping high. Ryan table IQ is really high and he again gripped low and loose to make it a side pressure battle. In the later rounds, Ryan was holding Mazahir really low by choice. It wasnt Mazahir who was adjusting to get a higher grip. Ryan dug his thumb deep and pushed it back in order to get better access to Mazahir's wrist. It is what many hook players do to get better access to side pressure against someone who has a very strong toproll hit. In this case, a referee's grip would have been a better option because Ryan was digging his thumb down which automatically forced Mazahir to grip high and come over his knuckles. As per WAF rules( which the refs are trained with), the strap has to be tight without any slack. The competitors can request the referee to tighten it but the one that has the buckle on hand is given a bit of preference. If the strap is already tight without any slack, the referee may not tighten it further. I don't see any issues there. Overall I feel Mazahir had a stronger toproll but couldn't finish the game by locking his dominant position with his structure. Ryan's elbow integrity was the game changer. He could hold Mazahir easily once he got his elbow lock set. Toddzilla training has surely worked for him. I'll be eager to see a rematch as the match was way too close and it was fun!

    • according to WAF rule number 8.1.6 Competitors cannot drop the competing shoulder below the level of the elbow pad when in a neutral or losing position. This will be considered a dangerous position. The neutral position defined as the starting position down to 2/3 of the way to the losing side of the table. and Mazahir is doing it through out the match and no one even warned him. at least be graceful no matter your fellow country man is winning or loosing, this is pure pathetic and disgusting.

  • Great event for armwrestling community. Arm wrestling is really getting popular right now, and this is because of this kind of event. My only pet peeve with this match is the different angles of the camera during the fight, it's not like your filming a movie so why change it, we want to see how the fight transitioned even in preperation, you could do it in post matches as recap. Regardless, love the event.

    • If you watched any types of combat sports they barely changes the angle because people want to see the raw reaction of the fighter/player after a win or lose. However, in this match they always show a random zoomed angle instead of the wrestler, specially after a pin. Anyway, that is just my opinion as a fan of this sport but still just like I said, great great event. 💪
