I just read an interview where Chris and Lance said this was the hardest video shoot for them to do. The plan was to film the video in 24 hours and then it got pushed to 3 days and this was also during the preparing for the Pop Odyssey tour. Chris said they were all miserable and burned out during the shoot and Lance was uncomfortable with the girls lol. Also with MTV there the cameras were on them all the time so Chris hated that. I’m assuming this was starting point for the downfall that became their hiatus leading to breakup.

I wish I could put my finger on exactly what it is, but there was a WAY pop stars talked back then--it was like its own inflection. Definitely influenced by AAVE, but that isn't the whole of it.
