i made this video last year its the most comprehensive guide to catching alligator gar anyone has made and i think its worth reuploading. im constantly getting asked for tips and help from people either wanting to learnt o catch alligator gar or learn to catch them without harming them, video format is really the easiest way to answer those question. hope you enjoy and learn something.

  • I'm glad you released this. I've been inspired to start kayaking and trying to find gar in subsidiaries between erie and the Ohio. I have definitely not been prepared enough to handle releasing one once I'd catch one. Thank you for this. We all need this to understand preservation

    • I am pretty sure we only have Longnose and Shortnose up here. I live in Ohio. There used to be a population of Alligator Gar in the Ohio River but that no longer exist,

  • I wish more people would teach about gars. Thanks so much for protecting these awesome creatures I cant believe they have tournament were they bow hunt them to get the biggest!! Just to kill them for sports well just pisses me off!!! Hopefully someday we can get them protected. Love watching your videos. I hope someday to visit the trinity river. But the ones you catch would pull me in and I would be bait lol.! Always watching

  • This is sort of the method i like to use already for long nose gar. A small baitholder hook gets em more often than a treble hook ever will, in the mouth usually too. If itll work for big gar too then cool

    • tackle direct, you can also buy 400# dorisea braid off amazon its not hollow core but its way cheaper and works fine
