    • People seem to have forgotten Pride is a sin. The original sin for which Lucifer was cast out of heaven. Let's go out and celebrate as we double up on our sin and debauchery. Maybe next we can have a gluttony month ? Or how about Wrath Week ?

    • My famous now deceased congressman Henry Hyde author of the Hyde amendment told me we must change the hearts of men. Exactly what your sermon proclaims. Let us pray for hearts to turn from sin and be transformed in Jesus name we pray. I might add that we need to elect government leaders that share our Christian values and encourage this through their legislation. Amen.

  • My parents were Roman Catholic, but they never took me to church. They stopped going as adults. I became an addict to alcohol and hard drugs. I’m a year sober, and for the first time in my life I feel like something or someone is screaming at me to follow, to learn, to join the community I was guided away from, I cry when I listen to these sermons. It’s what I’ve felt all along but ignored.

    @YoursUntruly@YoursUntruly2 ай бұрын
    • Brother/sister, congratulations on a year sober! I struggle with addiction as well. Jesus misses you so much. And we do too! He’s calling you to come back to the Church He founded, the Catholic Church. This is the meaning of the parable of the lost sheep and also the prodigal son. I was an atheist for 11 years before coming back. Listen to His call and come home. Let me know if there’s any way I can help! But first, ask God. Look into RCIA and talk to your local parish priest. I’ll add you to my intentions when I say my Rosary today. God bless you.

I think the most significant differences today within christianity is not between but STRAIGHT THROUGH the denominations, between individual souls/ priests and pastors and congregations. • Wow. As a Protestant I thought this was excellent. This chat had more courage to speak the truth in it than I have heard in awhile. As Christians we are to be on the narrow road not the wide road chasing the culture and engaging in the seduction of this fallen world.

    @daveintheshed4870@daveintheshed4870 Жыл бұрын
    • True indeed, but the only Narrow Road is Christ Himself who opened the road to the Highway to Heaven that anyone who believes can be saved. We should stand for the Christian Ideals, but when sinners no longer come to God is when the message and the Church has missed the mark. Anyone can be saved. The work was completed on the Cross.

I am a conservative Lutheran, and I choose conservative Lutheran priests and congregations when I go to my own Lutheran denomination (the main Lutheran Church of Sweden) for example St Pauli church in Göteborg Sweden. Sometimes I visit the Catholic church, because I beleive that the catholic vicar in my town is a man who preaches with guidance of the holy Spirit. The gerat differences today are NOT BETWEEN; BUT STRAIGHT THROUGH the denominations. That is my belief. Just on the distance between 2 tram-stops there might be entierly different faith and preaching in thte same denomination. THEREFORE we conservative (and now I mean theologically conservative - not politically) christians must work cloeselY TO>GETHER. That is my belief -work for the gospel, for evangelization.

But I never heard the truth of the Gospel, which would’ve saved my tortured soul… But by the Grace of God, at age 27, the Lord drew me to Himself and I was born again and baptised. The first sermon I ever heard was the one that opened my eyes to a whole new world that I could not have imagined would exist. A world where my Creator actually loved me? He sent His only Son to die for my sin, that I might be made clean? And forgiven? I could talk to my Father God and He wasn’t somewhere up in the sky, with no concern for us down here? How unimaginable this had all been to me. But it was the Truth, and it was real. God really does exist!! WoW!! • The parishioners of OLGCC are so lucky to have a priest like Fr. Michael. I live 1,361 miles from this church, and despite going to Sunday mass at my church, I still sign in on Monday to listen to what the homily will be. I say lucky because I used to have a priest similar to Fr. Michael. His homilies were never more than 12 minutes, were interesting and tied to both the gospel lesson and real world issues. And Fr. Michael calls out the sin of abortion and everyone who supports it. Thank you Father!

  • As a Protestant from Canada, I have to say that I appreciated much of what Fr Michael said in this homily. He takes the truly Biblical "third way"---not hate for LGBT people, nor saying that sin is somehow acceptable, but both showing love and upholding God's "ideal". It's interesting to note how much Catholics and Evangelicals have in common.

I stayed for the entire sermon :) I’m actually a born again, Bible believing Jesus follower, and it is looking like we all have more in common than that which separates us at this moment. • There are 3 Bible readings and a responsorial psalm at the beginning of the mass. The readings are not random but follow a schedule so that the Bible is read cover to cover over 3 years. When the Gospel is read it is often processed to the pulpit while being held over the priests head. There is also a large contingent of Evangelicals within the Catholic Church. They may hold group meetings or even build large auditorium churches. Even though it is the largest Evangelic church, I don't think most other Catholics are aware of them. Part of the RCIA preparing adult newcomers for Confirmation, or Baptism if they were not Chrstians, is a service bringing all the candidates in the city to be blessed and welcomed by the archbishop. Our group was assigned to the Evangelic church or I wouldn't have known about them either. I will say they had a great sound system

Jeremiah 44 17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil. 18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine. 19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men? 20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying, 21 The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind? 22 So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day. 23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day. 24 Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt: 25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.

I am only on this planet because I know the Lord holds me up and takes care of me. It’s all written in the Bible, the most wonderful words to us His children. I must say though, I was pleasantly surprised by this sermon, as I don’t usually watch RC priests. I only watch the pastors who preach the Truth, and not those who are involved in man made traditions (which the Lord hates as they mislead people). There are so many awesome pastors out there, and their sermons are always thought provoking and can be life altering if we put their words into practice. Have you ever heard of Billy Graham? • fifty (50) yrs ago homosexuality was (still) listed as a mental illness; homosexuality ran and ramped our nation (in some ways the world); then about in 1975 they (dsmv4) changed that and it is not longer listed as a mental illness. politicians "purely" observed this as an opportunity to meet the government "job" if they agree, promote and support homosexuality. today it is listed as a near "qualifier" for employment positions or promotions; even though our laws and constitution stated no discrimination based on: gender, race, ethnicity or religion or sexual orientation. does not matter to the "agenda": look at the recent mr. karine jean WH press secretary. the day she started mr. psaki "praised" ms. jean for being for 1st: immigrant, female, homosexual, black. the following week ms. jean stated the same works (near-identical). nowhere (either jean or psaki) stated any objective qualifications (education, etc) pertinent to the WH press. sec. they do not have to; hence sexual "orientation" and that ms. jean is a lesbian is one "in" of itself. basically we "require" so many positions to be held by "homosexuals"; and our core nation has no issues with this. for 60yrs+ our nation allowed this; now maybe a "price" to pay.

And still I cannot see false humility and pride. Strong devoted mature compassionate folk interceding has delivered so many folk! The Holy Spirit's leading is that still small voice. And you've still got a sacred freewill choice. How long shall the strong control the weak? Seeking the face of the Father rather than man's approval. Likely cause pain and remember those who were executed for they refused to fight! Cowards they were called by many Yet Jesus didn't have any other agenda than to ultimately save the wretched sin loving dying by degrees soul to make them whole and practice self control! • Thank you, father, for your homily, my children were very confused with this homily, they thought that Jesus was not very nice because he did not let go to say goodbye to his family and friends to dose who were trying to follow him, but now they understand that Jesus calls us to respond more intelligently. To respond to God's call with the fire of the Holy Spirit, my daughters realize that June even though that celebrates pride month, sin is also celebrated by those who do not have the fire of the Holy Spirit, also we celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus those of us who have the fire of the Holy Spirit we are called to pray tirelessly for all our brothers and sisters and for us to ask God to send the Holy Spirit to his church. Thank you, God bless you father, Thank you for your Yes to our Lord.

Only Jesus decides whom fo give The Holy Spirit, but not exclusive to men who preach the gospel. A saint is anyone who Jesus has gifted with The Holy Spirit.
